What do you like best about O'Reilly?

The very best parts of O'Reilly in my mind are the webinars. First, there is something for everyone. If you're learning Linux, or Python, or AI, or studying for Security+, and just about any other tech topic, there is a webinar for you. Second, nearly every session comes with resources. I have many PDFs from the various speakers. It's great to be able to go back and look at materials. Finally, everything is recorded and a link is sent back to you when the recording is ready. What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

Recently, O'Reilly switched to a new webinar provider and there have a been a few hiccups. Nothing that is a deal breaker, but the previous vendor was less problematic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about O'Reilly?

O'Reilly Learning Platform offers a vast and well-organized library of books, videos, and learning paths, making it an essential resource for professionals looking to expand their knowledge. Over the past year, I've been able to delve into specific topics, like Quarkus for Java, Go programming, and even career development strategies, by finding exactly what I needed in their catalog. I appreciate the ability to bookmark resources into an "interest list," which helps me keep track of subjects that matter most to me. The platform's focus on relevant, up-to-date content makes it easy to find guidance on new frameworks or emerging technologies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

While the content itself is excellent, the application for accessing it, particularly on e-ink devices like my Boox Note Air 3C, leaves much to be desired. The app is not optimized for e-ink screens, resulting in glitches and occasional text display issues that require a refresh. It’s frustrating when trying to read on a device specifically meant for long-form content. Additionally, I feel the platform could improve by expanding its offerings in live courses, events, or even certifications—features I haven't explored yet but would find valuable in the future. What do you like best about O'Reilly?

There are so many options to learn: Video on demand, sandboxes to play in and live webinars!

I find that I reference specific chapters of books rather than reading the whole book. The search utility allows me to see chapters instead of just returning titles. I like that it's easy to use and pretty consistent across platforms.

I also like that there is a productivity category. I find a few gems in there to help me with my day. Pretty much anything I need to reference will be in O'Reilly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

There aren't any real downsides to using O'Reilly. The only issue I have is that AI/LLMs are dominating my feed. I get it, LLMs are the rage right now, but I'd also like to see some variations based on my other interests. It's not that big of a deal as I know how to search, have my playlists, and can discover new stuff easily so I can deal with it until it blows over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about O'Reilly?

The variety of books, videos, articles, live streams, sandboxes for learning new stuff, old stuff, and things only mentioned in passing. I work in a small "state/Local govt agency" where cross-training is key to meeting all the demands placed on the IT team. No training money in our budget, I scraped up the cash for my first O'Reilly account and have been a fan ever since (no corporate account for me). We actively search for new tech and ways to server our clients. O'Reilly has been my go-to choice to learn about emerging tech and to aid problem solving the old tried and true tech we stil have in play and must maintain. I thought O'Reilly was only tech info and training until I was pressed into a supervisor role. Info and resources in O'Reilly helped me get a handle on being a manager when no mentor was available. Twenty years and still going strong. This month I learning about Snowflake and trouble-shooting an old bash interface script. Neverstop learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

Can't say I have bad experiences, with books or humans. Firewall issues at work for a couple of live classes a few years ago but it was us not O'Reilly. So I just plan ahead for live courses with labs and do them off site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about O'Reilly?

It's useful for staying up to date on new approaches that are emerging, such as Gen AI and Copilot, and it provides more detailed explanations of how unsupervised algorithms work than other courses I've seen. I like the hands-on experience, the insights from visualizing results and the variety of topics related to machine learning algorithms with python. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

Regarding the content, I'm enjoying it! What sometimes happens is that when I sign out and log in again to continue reading, the platform opens the book from the beginning of the chapter I'm on and not on the page I paused in the chapter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about O'Reilly?

Exams practices, books, videos, sandboxes and Labs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

Again, it'll be awesome to have Cloud and Security Labs (AWS, Azure, GCP, Pentest) and more, even with a little price increase. The new look and feel it's a little confusing and it takes me longer than before to find something I want, but it looks good, and it's just a matter of habit.;) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nothing much to dislike about O'Reilly though it can integrate AI enabled term explanation for readers so that instead of going to footnotes, they can learn and understand on fly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about O'Reilly?

The playlists allow to create your own learning paths.

There are video courses to follow online at your own pace and live sessions too.

Lots of books available too.

It covers a wide range of programming languages and technologies.

My main use case is to prepare for certifications (like AWS, Java and so on) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about O'Reilly?

The iOS app needs a bit of polishing. When you puse a video training it leaves the playback controls overlayed on the screen so it's hard to pause to check a diagram or a question when the instructor asks you to pause and think about it.

This does not happen on desktop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
