I have not experienced any downsides to using Nvidia or any of their cards. I have noticed with their more recent updates they require you to have a username and password to be able to check for updates. Nvidia vGPU provides a great way to use VMs efficiently. Because normally in a VM the GPU performance socks because the virtual GPUs used normally are not very good.
