It increases system capabilities to run heavy software and database searches. This could not be achieved on standard machines. AI learning is also something that benefits day-to-day activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Nvidia Virtual GPU Overview

What is Nvidia Virtual GPU?

NVIDIA virtual GPU (vGPU) technology uses the power of NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA virtual GPU software products to accelerate every virtual workflow—from AI to virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). By making GPU performance possible for every virtual machine (VM), vGPU technology enables users to work more efficiently and productively. In a VDI environment powered by NVIDIA virtual GPU, the NVIDIA virtual GPU software is installed at the virtualization layer along with the hypervisor. The NVIDIA virtual GPU software creates virtual GPUs that enable every virtual machine (VM) to share a physical GPU installed on the server or allocate multiple GPUs to a single VM to power the most demanding workloads. The NVIDIA virtualization software includes a driver for every VM. NVIDIA Quadro® Virtual Data Center Workstation (Quadro vDWS) includes, for example, the powerful Quadro driver. Because work that was typically done by the CPU is offloaded to the GPU, the user has a much better experience, and demanding engineering and creative applications can be supported in a virtualized and cloud environment.

What do you like best about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

Nvidia has always been a strong name in the graphics card industry. They make powerful cards that are great for the 3d rendering world. I personally prefer them over AMD. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

I have not experienced any downsides to using Nvidia or any of their cards. I have noticed with their more recent updates they require you to have a username and password to be able to check for updates. In a world that we all have too many usernames and passwords I feel this can be deleted. However you can still just verify your version and compare to the latest software release on their website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nvidia Virtual GPU solving and how is that benefiting you?

Not only does Nvidia has strong graphics cards and processors but their software does not create user issues (i.e. BSOD) when Microsoft sends out their updates. Other brands (i.e. AMD) has created several BSOD's due to issues with their graphics card drivers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

Before I had to have a dedicated GPU per VM which wasted space and system resources, now I am able to share GPU between guests. This allows my business to save money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

Nothing! This is the solution I was looking for a long time.

Before it was very costly to get guest VMs to have GPU capability but now I can fine tune how much resources each one needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nvidia Virtual GPU solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem that it solved is that I used to have to purchase a Quadro GPU per VM, which takes up valuable x16 slots on my server motherboard which can be used for networking or storage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

Nvidia vGPU provides a great way to use VMs efficiently. Because normally in a VM the GPU performance socks because the virtual GPUs used normally are not very good. But with Nvidia vGPU you get the performance of an actual physical GPU as if you are not using a virtual machine but an actual installation of the OS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

Well there isn't stuff I don't like honestly I like everything. There hasn't been anything that was a problem for me or I didn't like. It's just great well done Nvidia! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nvidia Virtual GPU solving and how is that benefiting you?

Well as I said normally virtual GPU performance socks. With Nvidia vGPU it doesn't. As I said you get the performance of an actual physical GPU as if you are not using a virtual machine but an actual installation of the OS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

As a designer, we exchange and review LARGE files in a shared virtual setting. The virtual GPU is a must-have for any design team working on and sharing bigger, graphics-heavy project files. We looked at Red Hat and a few others since our designers working from remote locations looks like it will be a continued practice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

While the refresh/viewing speed is definitely improved, it's not astounding...just noticeably faster. Not cheap, but worth it for a more productive work experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nvidia Virtual GPU solving and how is that benefiting you?

Covid, covid, covid. I don't know that we would be using a virtual GPU if it had not been for our design teams working remotely and working remotely WITH clients. The improvement over slow render times and delayed refresh rates has been met with positive feedback among team members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

In the case of working from a laptop, it is difficult to have dedicated GPU hardware that is powerful enough to serve as a workstation, thanks to this tool, it is not necessary to acquire a desktop computer with a dedicated GPU, it is enough to have it virtually and thus transform a laptop or any device without great performance into a powerful and efficient workstation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nvidia Virtual GPU?

At the moment, I could say that it is perfect, it serves what is needed in daily tasks with a large amount of information to process, mainly renders, I don't find any negative points. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Nvidia Virtual GPU solving and how is that benefiting you?

Save the cost of both acquisition and maintenance of a dedicated GPU in a desktop computer or the necessary hardware to connect it to a laptop via USB-C. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
