"A Flexible and Developer-Friendly Notification Infrastructure"
4/5
What do you like best about Novu?

Novu offers a clean, unified approach to handling notifications across multiple channels—email, SMS, push, in-app, and more. We use Novu daily as part of our core application infrastructure. Its open-source model gives a lot of flexibility and transparency, which is great for teams that want to customize or self-host. The SDKs and APIs are well-documented, and setting up notification workflows is intuitive. Real-time logs and testing features make it easier to monitor and debug. The UI is user-friendly and makes managing complex flows more accessible, even for non-developers. Customer support is responsive and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

There are occasional limitations around provider support or documentation for niche use cases. Analytics and user preference management could be more robust. It’s not a blocker, but you might need to implement some workarounds for more complex needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Novu integration: fast, reliable, and well-documented"
4/5
What do you like best about Novu?

As the app owner who handled our Novu integration, the strengths are clear and consistent across both development and operations. Implementation and onboarding are extremely smooth — we had a working prototype within a few hours thanks to practical SDKs and ready-to-use examples that significantly reduced development time. The documentation is excellent: well-structured, comprehensive, and packed with real examples that made debugging trivial. Notifications are delivered immediately and the retry logic is robust, keeping delivery failures to a minimum. Customer support is very fast and responsive, so any blocking questions are resolved quickly. In production we send around 100–200k tokens per month and the platform handles that volume reliably. Overall the product feels polished, integration is very easy, and the pricing is fair for the value provided. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

There are a few operational gaps that make day-to-day management harder than it should be. Retention of notifications is still limited (it moved from 30 to 90 days, which is better but not enough for our needs)—we would like at least a one-year retention option or configurable retention policies. The dashboard is not very user-friendly for admin tasks: user management and notification search are basic and lack important features such as removing device tokens for a user, muting or blocking notifications for specific users, bulk actions on notifications (delete/export), and more powerful search/filters (e.g., by payload, retry status, or channel). Adding these admin/operational tools would significantly improve the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Novu handles the heavy workload of transactional notifications"
5/5
What do you like best about Novu?

Novu has always been really easy to integrate from the start of our startup journey. It's uptime is stellar, we have never faced service disruption in the 4+ years using it, which is really rare for an early saas company !

While not feature packed, the analytics dashboard does the job to know the state of our notification workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

The transition from free to paid was scary at first, with a starting plan at 200 dollars (that we were willing to pay albeit very painfully). Very quickly the novu team heard the complaints and created a simpler 20 dollar plan with a pay for what you use system that felt a lot better ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and efficient"
4/5
What do you like best about Novu?

It was very easy to integrate in our already existing software and the dashboard is very intuitive.

The support is very fast at responding. We mostly used the push notification feature. I like that it shows the logs of each notification sent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

Had a small problem that impacted our production servers, but it was fixed very early.

The notification retention is quite low. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Novu -- saves time; a little complicated"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Novu?

I've used it on two projects now. The fact that it abstracts channels, so you can use the "same" workflow for emails, text messages, in-app notifications, and other modalities is really great. Most projects start with just one of those and end up sort of stuck there. Novu is a nice and flexible abstraction. In my feedback here, I've noted some complexity with using Novu. The complexity is worth it. Novu is a very well-aligned to the problem they want to solve -- we use it all day in multiple apps for a diverse user base. The team has also been very helpful -- when we get stuck, they've engaged pretty deeply in order to get use where we need to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

It's not as simple as just sending an API request. If you use a custom rendering approach, Novu has a handshake between its API server and your app's API that's sensible but I found a little hard to get used to. They've also significantly changed the API several times, which is fine for early versions of a product, but has taken some adjustment each time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Novu is both easy to use at a basic level, and easy to expand to whatever you need it to be."
5/5
What do you like best about Novu?

Novu is plug and play, and I can easily create new flows and hook up new notification workflows from the console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Novu?

I cannot easily create these workflows entirely in code, like I'd like to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
