I will say that it is very aptly named. I have used numerous EHS platforms in the past that make you conform to their design. The Flex platform is very useful in the fact that you can design it in numerous areas to do what you want and need to be successful in your goals for compliance, internal audits, accountability, resource availability, and many more features. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** There aren't many things. One change that was made recently I don't care for is the filtering of Assets. I prefer the previous iteration. I hope that this is not the direction that all filtering options will go, ex: Employees page. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** We outgrew our previous EHS platform in a hurry. Flex has given us the ability to work our desired outcomes across numerous areas of our company. We have numerous branches spread throughout the nation and are rapidly expanding. This platform allows us to build in protocols in the back end, regardless of expansion. When a new branch comes online and the roster input into Flex things will work for them day one. With our previous systems, there was a major lack in accountability and follow up. There was no way to automate some of the basic things we needed. For example, it would be very helpful if the QR scanner worked directly from iPads, since we use them for safety meetings and attendance tracking. The form layout is very intuitive and self‑explanatory. Additionally, the ability to schedule reports to be automatically sent to designated users eliminates the need to manually run reports on a daily basis. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** One concern I have is that the dashboard does not provide the level of detail needed to effectively manage and analyze the metrics. Certain response fields do not allow date entries, such as for follow‑ups or calendar tracking. Additionally, when pulling responses, the data must be manually added to the column fields each time, as those selections do not save. Another challenge my team has identified is the inability to have multiple forms open and in progress at the same time. This functionality would be especially helpful when managing multiple ongoing audits concurrently. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having a dedicated representative who is responsive and supportive is extremely valuable. It makes a significant difference to work with someone who answers questions without making you feel uncomfortable for asking, and who takes the time to explain processes clearly so the same issues can be avoided in the future. Our representative also maintains a weekly meeting cadence, which allows for regular updates, discussion of ongoing issues, and proactive suggestions for system improvements. ### 4. We have various scheduled reports that send out automatically to higher-level management without us having to lift a finger. In addition, we can view past responses and generate a report using our specific filters. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** There isn’t much I dislike about KPA, but like any system, it has a few gaps. I’d really like to see more robust reporting around the companies and projects within the software. Right now, we can filter reports and view results for specific companies or projects, which is helpful. However, it would be even more beneficial if each company and project had its own unique profile where we could see everything it’s tagged in, along with any additional details or context. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** The two biggest problems that KPA solves for us are eliminating paper usage and supporting a safety culture. We can quickly and easily tell what happened at a Jobsite just by viewing the email automatically sent to us when a report is submitted. We no longer have to send multiple emails and reach out for information because it's accessible at all times. We also can't lose paper copies of our forms because they are all stored in the system! ### 5. Many of the new features have bugs or incompatibilities that need to be resolved. A more in depth beta testing with actual users would allow for better development before roll out. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have converted many of our paper or informal processes like training, OSHA reporting, environmental reporting, investigations, inspections, and corrective action tracking to a digital platform in KPA. It’s become our central hub for everything related to safety and operations, especially for our field teams using the app. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** The back office functionality for Admins to build out forms can use some improving. Although I love all the feautures available, it's easy to go down a rabbit hole trying to figure out how to build out a form that meets our needs without overthinking. Updating the permissions for each form that is created can also be very tedious, especially if you're creating multiple forms for a workflow or that will be used as subreports and you're wanting to limit the access of sensitive information to specific groups. The more I use the program, the more uses my company has found for it. It is something that is used everyday across our entire company and it relatively easy to implement with project managers, foreman's, and superintendents. The response time of customer support is unmatched. If I ever come across an issue, I normally have an answer by the end of the day. Does not matter what internet connection I have, it is always slow. There are also limits on some items that could be enhanced to be more user friendly and create a better platform. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently Novara Flex has created a way for our company to house all of our documents, forms, and items that we use on a daily basis. We've built out forms for incident reporting, good catch/near miss reporting, safety observations, safety audits, and jobsite safety analysis (JSA). We're also starting to create strategic safety planning tools for our field supervisors and project managers. Being able to build tools within Novara Flex that make safety easier for folks is key. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** The app/website often load slowly, which causes frustration for users and adds unnecessary friction when we are trying to use this tool to make safety MORE accessible. There are also some ongoing connectivity challenges, particularly in remote areas or locations without cell coverage. This is a significant issue for our employees working on rural jobsites or on new construction where internet access is limited or unavailable. On the admin side, the platform allows some basic customization but the overlap with reporting capabilities is pretty limited, so we frequently have to pull data into other tools (Excel, Power BI) to be able to do meaningful analysis. For example, we have the ability to add important employee data to their profiles, such as their recent project manager, but we're not able to include those data points in all reporting. This results in our team needing to merge multiple sources of data. Additional flexibility in appearance and layout would also be valuable. For example, more control over charts, font colors, and form fields would improve usability and consistency. The platform is missing some well-established UI design practices that would improve usability. For example, when a required field on a form is missed, the form can't be submitted, but the error message appears in a low-contrast red text that is difficult to see. Our users often struggle to identify which field is incomplete/missing which leads to frustration and delays. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Novara Flex has centralized our communication, training, planning, and incident reporting in support of our goal to prevent serious injuries and fatalities. ### 14. I've used other products that claimed to be mobile-friendly, but Novara Flex truly is. It's also customizable, allowing us to edit an out-of-the-box software to fit our needs without having to pay for additional customization. With a fleet of 1000 remote workers visiting job sites daily, it's invaluable for ensuring they have their credentials accessible via the app. If a safety incident occurs, it can be captured and shared immediately. The software also helps us manage and document preventative maintenance, corrective actions, investigations, and inspections. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** I think Novara Flex could improve with better dashboard widgets and a wider variety of safety metrics and stats to report, like days since the last OSHA case or first aid rates. A trailing 12-month TRIR would be nice too. I also find it annoying that when assigning a course, it defaults to send to everyone instead of no one, which seems like a small thing that could be fixed with development. Another issue is there's no forms search function on the App even though it's available on the desktop version. Lastly, an integration with 3rd party qualifiers like Avetta and ISNet would be nice. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Novara Flex compiles multiple platforms into one, simplifying our processes for safety and compliance. Training and form reports are just a couple clicks away, or you can create a widget on your dashboard to see what you need the second you log in. If you need any help, customer support or your Client Success Manager will definitely be able to assist you. We use Forms and Trainings the most and have been able to achieve a lot with the features that the platform has. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** Although it is something on the roadmap, we have not seen a lot of AI introduced on the site. We are hoping to see some soon. For us, the site can sometimes be a little slow to load reports or the information on an employee profile. We don't see or use a lot of integrations with Flex - whether it be in the Flex site or on other platforms. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it for all of our safety training. It is easy to set up a group of trainings for employees to take when they are onboarding. The system allows for them to be automatically assigned when the profile is created. Additionally, we have other trainings that employees take every quarter. All we had to do was set the up with the assignment criteria and it is now on autopilot for us each year. We also house the majority of our Forms in Flex. Whether it be safety, payroll, operations... you can do a lot with Forms and customize them as much as you need. ### 16. At times, those limitations keep us from viewing the data the way we want. To nitpick, I think there could be some more reporting options, but that can be relatively easily addressed through API and Power BI. **What problems is Novara Flex solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everything needed from an HSE and LMS perspective. Additionally, we've started using it for other departments due to it's ease of use and customizability. In short, it is our all-encompassing juggernaut of an HSE management system. ### 46. The system is basically where anything HSE needs it is stored. Also many of our BU's are using the system for their personal needs, not just safety. It has also helped with capturing metrics, data, and accountability. **What do you dislike about Novara Flex?** the contractor management system is terrible and is an after thought. Until all of the bugs are worked out, I would not recommend it. Besides our CSA, the customer service is VERY slow as well.
