Great product that is easy to use with a small learning curve. Can have entry level techs run the data gathering with just basic instructions and feed everyting into the app so that a higher level tech can review, generate reports and then have converstaions with the customers. This thing and everything that goes with it is insanely expensive! It was always higher priced but still semi-justifiable most of the time, but then Kaseya purchased them and jacked up the prices to a redicilous level for what it is. There are many open source products out there, in fact the whole Network Detective Pro product line can be put together from open source products; however it requires a signifigant amount of time and knowledge to be able to do so, so unfortunatly many small to midsized MSP's are stuck with this since they are the only game in town right now. Every time you use the tool you will feel dirty when you know how much you are paying to have some people combine together a bunch of already free programs under a proprietary wrapper. NDPro excels in its simplicity, making it easy to gather data from multiple sources efficiently. Small and large environment can be scoped rapidly and the data gathered is truthful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In the French-speaking province of Quebec, the absence of some major reports and or templates in French presents a challenge for us sometime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Prospective clients at the SMB level don't always have first hand knowledge of their IT related systems. Often times, the existing MSP is not part of the conversation while the prospective client is seeking a replacement. Network Detective Pro provides me with the tools needed to review critical IT components that give insight on the operational status and security posture. The generated reports also provide a new level of transparency most clients aren't exposed to giving full awareness to the state of their IT systems. Additionally, the Exchange Assessment is critical to mail migration planning as it automates so much of the analysis needed to accurately scope the project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Centralized scanning of workstations from the network detective application is limited but that's due to WMI/Microsoft limitaitions. In a pre-sales situation, changes to WMI via group policy (to allow for centralized analysis) are not possible. To perform a thorough scan of all endpoints, a manual scan is needed for each device. The recent edition of Netowrk Detective Pro Cloud has helped improve this by automatically uploading the scan files to the cloud so the technician doesn't have to transfer the files via usb stick. I like the fact it has scans available for cloud systmes to get vulernabilty assements for cloud users and also the normal on prem scans that are available, the reporting and unifromity with kaseya is also a great when you have the other products alongside this. the scan agent only runs once at 2am and if the device is offline it wont scan it again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use Network Detective to quickly get a snapshot of networks for new customers. The network scans take about 20 minutes per subnet and afterwards the reports are invaluable. We use the reporting to clean up the environment and sometimes for assessments as well if we are able to get credentials from the customer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside I have ran into with Network Detective Pro is that there is a customer limit, and I'm not willing to pay for additional customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that there is no agent to deploy. When I need to assess a customer site for a vulnerability assessement, I can run the scan from the admin's workstation, or in some cases, I ship them a miniPC that they hook up to their network and that I can then access via my RMM tool to run all necessary scans.
The reports are also very detailed and well formatted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The multitude of reports can be overwhelming, and many of them repeat the same information in different formats. However, for MSP/MSSPs that provide the reports to the customer, this offers great flexibility. Given that I work with very non-technical SMBs, I don't send the reports to the customers - they wouldn't understand much. I just synthesize all the information in my own reports and put it all in layman's terms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Network Detective is a great tool for quickly gaining a overall picture of a client's network. We frequently use the tool when engaging new clients to provide high level assessment of their network and servers. The output data is extremely useful and saves significant time over pulling all the same reports/data manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a LOT of output. The vast majority of the reports and outputs we have no use for. Our clients are not interested in reading through hundreds of pages of reports. There are executive summaries available, but they usefulness is limited in my expereince. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Does a lot of different things in a single license. We keep looking to replace it but the only replacement options involve at least 2 or 3 different products. Basic features like one time scans for assessments are easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Documentation is confusingly mixed with other RapidFire Tools products. Support reps don't seem to know anything that isn't in the documentation. Scheduled tasks often fail with unhelpful error messages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Network Detective Pro is great for getting clients to realize the things they need to resolve within their network in order to make a more secure environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is cumbersome. There is a lot of setup in order to get it to run within a network for the amount of info given. You either need to have an agent on each machine and run scans or have an onsite server to help run them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Network Detective shines in its ability to identify and clearly present infrastructure and network security issues. When combined with VulScan, it transforms into a powerful tool for evaluating an environment's security posture.
