The best thing about NetBeans is that it auto completes the code and suggests snippets of code to choose from. It is very helpful for large applications. It provides tools to fix errors in java code. It is integrated with GIT. Though it is written in java , it supports many languages such as C/C++, HTML, XML, JavaScript, JSP through plug on support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Even though it is great for JAVA it is very heavy and the debugger is really slow because of too many plug-ins so it lowers the performance. It takes up too much space as compared to other IDEs. Also, configuration setting could be time confusing sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been using this IDE for years and it's the most convenient one I've ever used for Java development. I like that it's lightweight and not resource-hungry and it has a lot of cool features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The design is a little bit outdated in my opinion, a little makeover would make it ten times better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am using Netbeans from past 5 years and I simply love it. Some of the best features of Netbeans are Intelligence, well managed project management, plugins, Git integration, and personalization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It loads all the projects everytime we open netbeans. We need to wait until that. Nobody wants to sit and wait. There must be some other way like turning this progress in background. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that the interface is clean and compact. It does not distract from my coding. I also like that I can debug the program as I am running it. I can pause the program, change variables, and reload the fresh code. It is great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like that I have to use a separate program to design my fxml forms. I would prefer to stay with in NetBeans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it pretty easy to use. I have been using NetBeans IDE since 2012 for Java J2SE. It came inside a CD provided by the management. When I started using it, I was a complete beginner, developing cross-platform GUI based Java applications is super easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It feels bit fragmented and takes a while to load all the modules. I personally don't feel it since I use an SSD. The thing which annoys me the most is that NetBeans won't install unless you have JDK installed. By default, the installer looks for the JDK in default programs directory but if you have it installed elsewhere, you have to feed the JDK path. Likewise, it won't uninstalled unless you have JDK installed. Seems too much JDK dependent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Netbeans is one of the most popular IDE for developing Java, developed by Oracle.
It is a good option when you start learning Java because of its ease of use.
It has an integrated GUI builder that allows you to create graphical interfaces for your programs.
Its debugging mode is correct and allows you to locate faults in your code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The problem with NetBeans is that the projects that you create when you try to import them in other IDE, such as Eclipse, usually give compatibility problems.
Also the code that you write when using the GUI builder is different from the one used by the javax.swing and java.awt libraries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In my earlier years, I used Netbeans heavily in order to properly learn the ins and outs of java development. What it is best for is simplicity and it ease of use, and unfortunately, not much else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The problem with Netbeans is that it does not offer a lot of room for growth for professionals. It offers good tools for beginners only, and quickly becomes a clunky and disorganized IDE. For the beginners and interns, I recommend this IDE, otherwise, look elsewhere. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It’s my first IDE, since my undergrad; I have been using this for more than 6 years now and it still surprises me with the performance and speed not lacking any plugins needed. It is on a further step on the verge of development compared to other IDEs. Having worked at both university school projects and industry level projects, netbeans seemed to be lighter, faster and competitively performing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Compatibility, since I hve been working on many other IDEs as well, netbeans has to widely increase it developer tools and be available for others to work on it as well. That way, one can know the in and out of the plugin/any software added to it.
It isn’t that they are farther behind, I just want to see them on top of list for their sensibly sweet software development environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the interface.
I also like the GUI feature, which I think it's something most people do. It makes tasks easier, rather than typing 5-6 lines of codes just create a textbox, button etc.
It is quite similar to VB drag and drop, even though the language differs of course.
with double clicks on the object, one can easily navigate to the exact line of codes for that button handle. It comes in handy when dealing with thousands of lines of codes.
Refactor even though available on other software is something really nice. saves you the trouble of dealing with names mismatch and individual renaming Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It sometimes takes ages to load.
It might be due to the packages, but it sometimes is absolutely slow to load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Netbeans is very easy to install and use straight away, which is very beneficial for new coders. It is very good for advanced coders as well, for building projects with great Java 8 Constructs. There are a lot of bits for auto code completion. Offers great support for GUI code creation and support for Java, C++, HTML5, and PHP too. Overall it just provides great tools to generate different kinds of applications and the readiness of it is what makes it the best IDE in my opinion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The debugger in Netbeans is not the best debugger out there. It does not provide as many features as Eclipse Luna etc, but it is a very good place to start. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
