The downside of using MySQL 5.7 is that you wont optimise the performance of you are database size is very huge. Over the years I have experimented with a multitude of database solutions to integrate into my personal projects. I am certain there are few I haven't tried. Ultimately I always come back to MySQL because I find it incredibly easy to set up, use and manage.
