Getting started with Mule is relatively easy especially with the online training which brings developers up to an basic level of competency.
It is very flexible with many ways of achieving the same result and can other technologies such as xslt and maven were required.
The tool is continually evolving and with Anypoint Platform and CloudHub, it is now much more than just an ESB - it is truly a complete, Enterprise-level, Integration platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Advanced mastery of this tool is no-so-easy and complex integrations require a good degree of knowledge. Mulesoft do seem to suggest it is easier than it is.
The IDE also does have some issues (eg. can be slow and does have some bugs) but these are getting less as newer versions are released.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been working as the architect on integration project using Mulesoft recently. The best benefit to me is the quick delivery of re-usable API on Mulesoft ESB. This gives me the lead time to drive the whole integration project. It also gives the business the confidence that the project delivery can be met in time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have been dealing well with my Mulesoft Developers. The only problem is the documentation from the development team is lagging as the development goes so fast :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The freedom and options to connect any system / component using the Anypoint Platform. Can connect flat files and expose them as a Web Service! The system doing a "GET" using web service will never know what kind of language / platform they're dealing with. It's a consistent look and feel of REST and SOAP. Too complex sometimes. In Mulesoft Anypoint platform, you have a number of ways to achieve a goal. There are so many components and connectors such that it becomes hard to know everything available out there.
Logging needs to be more user friendly. An audit file in an HTML format with collapsable headers will be great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There many connectors to make life easy. We have to just explore Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have to be careful with Flow processing strategies which when used without proper design could lead to unexpected results.
Sometimes, studio hungs and when restarted fails to identify the default domain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is very simple. Everything is readily available. Just drag and drop in your flow and you are ready with your integration. Anyone from non programming background also can start creating the flow and deploy it to see how it is working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The icons in the palette. They are not having pleasing look. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The easily adaptive connectors, integrating multiple systems. API Kit Integrator is an advantage. Munit and debugging helps in learning Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing much to this point of learning. If the DB , MQ connectivities are readily supported by the platform, why not make them commonly available for all applications / in the runtime instead of adding JAR files to each application.
Unable to understand, how we can deploy multiple applications into Mule runtime simultaneously and leverage both the data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of use - it is very easy to get around the Anypoint Platform and most of the features are straight forward and easy to use intuitively. It is also very powerful - you can do so much with the click of a few buttons. Creating APIs, distributing them, managing their access - all within arms length in snappy package. Visually the platform is very appealing as well - the user experience is very straight forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At times support and resources for learning are lacking - the primary source of information seems to come from the community and the forums. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
More than tool, it is API enabled methodology which is best being put by Mulesoft by not only providing tool to develop it, it also provides runtime environment to deploy and execute it. Training material is also great which gives hands on steps to really learn tool as well as methodology. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As I am still in learning curve as doesn't come from distributed background, I am pretty much taking it as is. One thing though which I felt that breaking a flow in too many pieces could act negative for performance and if not designed properly could create few weak links if not designed properly. Not sure if tool provides any such intimations as that would be really great or could create havoc if found late after productionalize application as it would mean changing whole design. Cloudhub deployment & API Manager are a fabulous way of developing, deploying and managing your APIs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

AnyPoint Studio is sometime taking long time to get start and it may require some good hardware. Once it get started, it is very fast.
One more things we should be Java Expert if want to write some custom connectors or code.
