Mulesoft is a complex software system on one side and extraordinary and powerful on the other. And the concept of API led-connectivity facilitates and speeds up the APIs integration and management. I like describe my services through RAML files because they are well structured and documented, and it's simple generating basic flows from them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's not simple for the beginners understand API led-connectivity and different types of components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Great ESB Framework compare to other ESB tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Need to write certain custom components to satisfy the business requirements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I loved the way Mulesoft has maintained the Online training portal for all the trainings for Developers, Architects, Pre-sales, Managers etc. Supporting the developer zone by providing the free online content and holds a robust forum for Mulesoft related queries.
We loved the Mulesoft Meetup forum which helps strengthening the Integrators community.
MUlesoft Exchange portal is the greatest Asset which help developers to reuse the code across worldwide & & in many cases a GREAT Start to the developers forum. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
From a developer perspective, The Mule 4 & Mule 3 version has a lot of differences wrt to the development nuances. Ideally what we see with the versioning int the tool is just a enhancement in the features.
Also hearing from developers that Mule 4 is not as stabilised as Mule 3 and client are lingering on which one to go for ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Coming from Spring integration environment, I liked the ease of development provided. GUI based development is an excellent provision done by Mulesoft. Another thing I liked is an E2E environment build capability in Mulesoft. The concepts of API development are purely instilled in the Mulesoft platform. There are tools, applications, servers and gateways, all available to develop, test and production API without leaving platform. I mean I can churn out an API, mock test it with user and publish to private or public domain, within an hour, how cool is that.. and that to without leaving the platform provided tools. When you dig deeper and get to lower implementation, you will realize that Mulesoft still lacks a lot of connectors that are available in Spring and can be leveraged by Mulesoft. The most important part of my concern is lack of reuse in DWL files. In Spring I could define mapping based on Spring profiles and reuse same code to transform the records in different formats based on profiles. I did not get that option into Mulesoft, reuse the DWL code to multiple profiles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is easy to build APIs using MuleSoft. You can build a REST API endpoint with its HTTP listener connector in minutes. With MuleSoft, we can expose our database stored procedures with REST APIs without any coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a steep learning curve if you are not a Java developer and API developer. We are using Mule4 and the available online resources is almost nothing. If you are not guided by an experienced Mule developer, you will have a tough time getting yourself up productive in MuleSoft. Even I got a week of MuleSoft developer training, I struggled for almost a month to get used to the Mule way of development. Most of the materials you found online are tailored to Mule 3. Mulesoft is a workhorse & is the best on the market. It truly can accomplish anything we need. I use it often to do ad-hoc migration work with Salesforce. The XML base of the program works well with Salesforce's metadata api and I use custom python scripts to speed development. I LOVE using python to generate Mule flows. The learning curve can be steep and anypoint studio can be a bit glitchy. The price point can also be a point of contention with customers due to them not needing the API capability and only using for integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Tools for developing APIs are intuitive and many use cases can be satisfied out of the box quickly without programming due to the large library of pre-built connectors. In addition the API led connectivity approach allows us to prototype APIs and garner feedback immediately using the platform which allows us to deliver a solution quickly. There is also good support from the customer success managers and they always work to ensure that any issues or concerns we bring to them are elevated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setup of a VPC and dedicated load balancers is not trivial and can be challenging without the assistance of a Mulesoft Architect. Java programming knowledge is required for more complex implementations. Migration from mule 3 to 4 requires rework and migration tool that has been mentioned previously does not yet exist and no time-frame for completion has been given. "Exchange" is the most functional, beautiful, easy to maintain, easy to touch and learn specifications "API specification portal" I ever seen. It works both of internal and external. NZ Post is the best example.
Filters, especially SLA based rate limiting, is very interesting function/architecture. It doesn't affect on the API implementation itself, which means API project owner can manage SLA (for money-tization) independently from developers. It will attracts customer's interests.
Deployment options are also useful and helpful. CloudHub + VPC is the most quick and realistic option, but CloudHub (only) is also useful for demo. It's always good to have trial version!
And it's java applications. Even though there is any trouble on application, we can always dive into Java class (adding our own Java class to fix the problem). It's a relief. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
"Exchange" needs to support multi-language (does it?)
Relatively simple logics may need dw language coding
Anypoint Studio is heavy on my PC...
It's good to have some charm points which come from salesforce acquisition... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do like the ability to write API endpoint quickly and easily. It has tons of ability for writing system integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dislike Anypoint Studio. It crashes all the time. Mulesoft has been a hard learning curve and then Studio is buggy compounding the confusion in many cases. Mulesoft should not need to have Jenkins as a separate installation. It should include it's own deployment tool that you could replace if you choose. Getting the environments set up is really way harder than it should be. The monitoring shouldn't be at platnum level cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Extensive library of pre-built connectors
Easy to use connector development tool kit
Drag-and-drop’ interface for development
Visual data mapping and transformation
The graphical interface of Anypoint studio is fantastic.
It helps doing difficult things, with click of a mouse... the drag n drop..
For XML support for detailed level analysis helps to troubleshoot the issues.Web-based dashboard for control of your Integrations.
For Data Integrations we need to Understand our data, Understand our Performance requirement, Understand our Business, Understand our Rules and Understand Exception Management. Data Integration Tool should help to seamless integrate one or more Enterprise Applications. Mulesoft a cloudbase utility helps achieve the same in seamless manner.
