Top Rated MindTap Alternatives
As a web development and coding teacher, I use MindMap in my coding classes. Mindtap helps with:
1) Guided assignments
2) Automated grading
3) provides a lot to educational materials like quizzes, flashcards, books, etc
4) You can easily integrate Mindtap with the existing LMS. They support many different options.
From my experience, MindTap works best for Excel/MS Word classes; however, coding classes may have some issues like cross-platform compatibility and issues with assignment verification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A lot of bugs... MindTap is a great system overall, but my students often experience unexpected problems and lags when they use MindTap. Sometimes, they just can't submit an assignment despite that their code is perfectly correct.
Important to understand is that MindTap checks for the exact match for the output of the coding assignment. Therefore, if the student did everything correctly but used a different programming approach, MindTap might not count it as a correctly submitted project..
HTML CSS and JS assignment verification egnine not always works perfectly. Sometimes MindTap required students to schieve a perfect pixel-topixel match with the "solution". Sometimes it's technically not possible and couse a lot of troubles. But Python classes showed a better performance i guess because MindTap use Phython-based backend. I use Cengage textbooks for several of my courses. I have been using the MindTap/Brightspace integration for several years. The MindTap option allows me to easily choose which material I want to use to reinforce my student's learning, and the chapter quizzes and chapter homeworks help them test their knowledge before exams. It's a simple LTI integration into our LMS, which only has to be done once. Customer support was very helpful when I set up my integration. We use the MindTap integration in many of our courses, and students have had very positive feedback! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't found anything yet about MindTap that I dislike. There are many activity options for the instructor to choose from, and the integration was very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is asynchronous so you can learn at your own pace and time. There is minimal (could be much more) audio to learn pronunciation (not enough and not ADA read-aloud text either). The software has a very retro vibe. Think 1995. Not sure that's a compliment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I purchased the entire book, which is four courses, directly from the publisher. I cannot access the material without a class registration. I cannot even practice the material I paid for over the summer. You only have access to it for two years clock is ticking, so if your life changes, you just lose what you paid for. In other words, if you take a semester off the language for other courses, you just lose the access and money. It isn't really based on courses; it is estimating the courses and giving you a time schedule to access the material which begins with the purchase. It is beyond me why a customer can purchase access to material for two years and only get access through a registration in a classroom. It is not ethical to sell to individuals if this is the terms. It is gatekeeping knowledge for profit. It is an outdated system, and this publisher and those like it desreve to be put out of buisiness with open-access learning. Ironically it is gatekeeping a textbook and system that are far inferiror to Duolingo. I recommend every academic institution move away from these outdated language learning approaches, and turn to open access platforms like Duolingo. As a language learner and a language teacher, I can honestly say this Midtap and its textbook are an outdated methodology and an outdated system based on profit, greed, and with very little concern for the student's best ineterest. There are quite a few things that's great about MindTap, few of them I've listed below:
1. Grading is done automatically, which is a great feature
2. Top in-demand courses. Courses like management, psychology which are most sought after are provided here.
3. Easy to use for instructors
4. Different types of materials, like quizzes , flash cards etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The application still needs a lot of development, i.e mostly on making it even easier to use and with the reduction of bugs within the application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its a great plaform to enhance online learning. the availability of educational tools provide an ease of implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its good to use. I don't see any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The test banks have a lot of good questions and cover many areas. I like that some courses have updated case activities. More material to choose from is a good thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having to sift through so many different assignments. Not being able to edit the built-in tests/activities. It becomes cumbersome after a while. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
MindTap's Feedback Studio makes essay grading much easier than on my LMS or on Word. Rubrics, text comments, audio comments, and in line grading with information and textbook links are some of my most used features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Organizing a course on MindTap is tedious and time-consuming. Adding a drag and drop feature or allowing multiple items to be moved simultaneously would be a good idea. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing there is no feature that I have or will ever enjoy on this platform. This thing is a money making joke. They put 0 effort in making it even borderline usable because they know professors can just make their kids get textbooks from this joke of a company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Payment, chat boxes, urls, any fundamentally basic service this company claims to be able to perform does not work. Avoid at all costs. Textbooks from the 50's are 100x better than this platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is nothing good about MindTap. Maybe it makes it easier for professors to grade, but it's super unfair. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are so many windows you have to open for activities. I have to use this system fro French class, and there are many activities that are worth many points and only allow for ONE ATTEMPT! And you have to fill out entire sentences with French phrases, and put in all the correct accents and spell everything right. And if you misspell one word or letter, it COUNTS THE WHOLE THING WRONG! It's unfair to students who struggle in French like me, but who work insanely hard, JUST TO GET A BAD GRADE! I hate this website so much and I will never use this when I become a music professor because I will want all my students to succeed, not fail. I hate professors who weed out students like this. And unfortunately, my French teacher does not understand that this website is ruining my wonderful work and making it all be for nothing. I HATE MINDTAP WITH A PASSION! IT GRADES UNFAIRLY AND COUNTS THE WHOLE ANSWER WRONG IF YOU MISSPELL JUST ONE LETTER! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
