What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?

Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Alation serve different but complementary roles in data management and analytics ecosystems. SSIS is a data integration tool primarily used for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), while Alation is a data catalog that helps with data governance, discovery, and collaboration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services to Alation?

Complexity and Learning Curve:

SSIS can be complex to set up and use, especially for those new to ETL tools. The learning curve is steep, requiring a good understanding of SQL Server and the SSIS environment.

Limited Data Cataloging Features:

SSIS lacks built-in data cataloging and governance features. It focuses primarily on ETL processes, which means it doesn't provide comprehensive data discovery, lineage tracking, or metadata management like Alation.

Dependency on Microsoft Ecosystem:

While SSIS integrates well with Microsoft products, it may not be as effective or easy to use with non-Microsoft systems. This dependency can be limiting in diverse tech environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
