Defender is absolutely sufficient. In fact for a small business having as many systems in a single platform that your staff is comfortable supporting is far more important than having the bleeding edge anti-virus/anti-malware/whatever in disparate systems that a small team will struggle to operationalise. we have configured some policy's for secure Email collaboration, like safe attachments, safe link and etc. it's recommended to avoid any potential issues.
