What do you like best about Merge?

The Merge team is amazing to work with and is always there to help with everything from implementation, troubleshooting, and connection support. They're always responsive and helpful! They're also great partners along the integration development process and bring a depth of knowledge regarding the integrations they support.

On the platform side, once we've built support for a few applications in a certian category, we find it's a relatively simple effort to add additional integrations in that category. The ease of implementation here and time saved as a result is great! Our customers frequently use our Merge integrations and have smooth experiences making and using the connections.

I also appreciate the strides they've made with their documentation in the past year, making it easier to understand the nuances of each platform, which is especially useful when building dozens of integrations in a specific category. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

It can be a little challenging getting feature/enhancement requests prioritized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge helps us build integrations more quickly through their unified API! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

Merge's unified API solution made it incredibly easy to add 20+ CRM integrations in less than a week, which significantly expanded our total addressable market. The integrations are highly customizable and reliable - it's truly "set it and forget it." Their Field Mapping feature has been particularly valuable, allowing our customers with heavily customized CRM instances to easily map their unique data models. By using Merge, we've saved at least $450k annually in engineering costs by eliminating the need for ongoing maintenance and custom integration development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

You're somewhat dependent on Merge's supported integrations rather than having complete control over custom-built ones. While their coverage is extensive and met our needs, teams should verify that their required integrations are supported before committing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge solved our need to support highly-customizable CRM integrations at scale without investing internal developer resources. Our product needs CRM data to help product teams understand the revenue impact of customer feedback, but building and maintaining these integrations ourselves would have diverted resources from our core product. With Merge, we were able to quickly add integrations with major platforms like Salesforce and HubSpot, as well as niche vendors, allowing us to serve a broader customer base. The automated maintenance and reliable performance have freed up our engineering team to focus on building our core product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

Merge helped us expand our client offerings as well as helped us improve our internal processes. Their list of possible integrations have helped us create features that our clients have been asking for. It also helped us provide our clients with data analysis of their hiring and retention practices.

It was easy integrating with Merge using their API documentation. It made it much quicker for us to implement our client's ATS and HRIS data into our platform so that we can provide them with key metrics and data analysis. We've also started planning out how to use their other offerings for future feature requests. Their dashboard is easy to use and helps us manage all of our integrations in one place.

The biggest selling point, that made us choose them over other products, is that they make it so easy to map disparate data into our schema. They have a great way of consolidating different HR provider's data into their platform. They also let you use custom types to add specific mappings you want to include in the data ingestion process.

Merge's customer support is excellent. We recently had to fill out and submit an application to use an external HRIS system and they helped us through this process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

There’s sometimes a mismatch between ATS and HRIS offerings but Merge has been quickly adding new integrations in each category.

Some HR solution providers need extra paperwork to get started but Merge helped us fill these out and get our application submitted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Merge?

Merge has been a game-changer for our integration needs and enabled us to scale our integration platform exponentially faster than we could have building each integration in-house or relying on third-party contractors .

First, the scalability is impressive. We don’t have to worry about managing the unique authentication requirements for each HRIS or keeping up with API changes—Merge takes care of it all seamlessly. This saves us countless hours of maintenance and ensures our integrations stay reliable.

Second, the flexibility of their common model when combined with their custom mappings feature is outstanding. The common model provides a robust default structure that works for most use cases, but, with their custom mappings, it’s also extremely customizable. As a result, when a customer asks, “Can you handle this unique scenario or custom field?” we’re almost always able to say, “Yes, we can do that,” thanks to Merge’s flexibility and extensibility.

Their support is another standout feature. The response times are next-level, and it’s clear the team genuinely cares about helping their customers succeed.

Lastly, debugging is refreshingly simple with Merge. Their API tester and detailed logs make it easy to identify and resolve issues quickly, keeping our development and debugging processes smooth and efficient.

Merge enables us to focus on delivering value to our customers rather than worrying about the complexity of integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

We did encounter quite a few bugs early on, but this seemed to be due to lower adoption of the HRIS integrations we were leveraging at the time. The platform has become much more stable since then, and we rarely experience issues now. Additionally, when we did encounter problems, their support team was very responsive and communicative and did everything they could to resolve them as quickly as possible, which helped mitigate any frustrations.

Another consideration is that some companies Merge integrates with may pose additional challenges during the integration process. For example, larger providers like ADP, Paylocity, and Rippling often require going through partnership processes, which can take time. This is not an issue with merge - these are challenges you’d face regardless of using Merge, and their team provided excellent support to navigate these obstacles more smoothly than we could have on our own. It’s just worth noting that not every HRIS integration is entirely ‘turnkey,’ and some HRIS platforms may also charge customers for API access. Being aware of these nuances and differences with each HRIS can help in planning your integrations effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge helps us solve the complex challenge of integrating with dozens of HRIS platforms, enabling us to deliver a scalable and flexible integration solution for our customers. Before Merge, we tried building integrations in-house and working with third-party contractors, but neither approach gave us the scalability, flexibility, or support we needed. Using Merge allowed us to launch integrations for 12 of our most-used HRIS platforms in under a year, and we’ve since expanded to 22+ integrations. This has dramatically improved our win rates and customer retention while reducing the engineering, support, and implementation resources required to maintain integrations. What do you like best about Merge?

The most useful thing is a combination of several things:

- a wide range of integrations

- a wide range of supported languages for SDK + ready-made solutions for Frontend SDK

- a convenient and fast flow for linking accounts for our end users

- a diverse set of tools in the admin panel such as webhooks, sandbox, test api

- clear onboarding during registration in the admin panel Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

- price (it would be possible to break down the pricing policy depending on the modules that are needed, i.e. why overpay if, for example, only one ATS module will be used)

- sometimes a certain api is poor in functionality, for example, certain batch requests such as POST requests for creating candidates for ATS systems are missing

- more advanced multitenancy is missing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using Merge so that our recruiter users can easily integrate their ATS system into our platform, for example, to easily export candidates found on our platform or to synchronize certain data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

The most helpful thing about Merge is the fact that we don't have to manage the actual integrations with the accounting systems we're interested in (QBO/Xero). Upsides are quick connection to users' accounting systems, no need to manage keys on behalf of the users, and the ability to sync most writes instantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

So far my experience with Merge has been good. It's able to collect/read/write most of the data I'm interested in to the accounting systems we integrate with (QBO & Xero). However, there have been a handful of times where the documentation indicated support for certain endpoints and it ended up not actually having support for it with the promise of the fix coming within the quarter or following quarter. A lot of the time the promise has been delivered. It would be nice if there was an easier way to setup webhooks programmatically so that we can sync merge accounts on the fly for data written via passthrough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main way Merge is benefitting us is with the unified nature of the api. We don't have to maintain software to maintain direct integrations with the different accounting software. I like that we can connect to the users' accounts pretty easily and not have to worry about juggling the different datatypes that can get returned from similar calls to the different thrdparty softwares. For example, retrieving a user's contacts can have different response bodies whether I query QBO ro Xero if I were to do it directly, but merge does a good job of normalizing the data into a consistent format so that the differences are abstracted away. Additionally, the SDK is also very helpful so that we don't have to worry about the http calls directly in most cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

We rely on Merge to support our Accounting and HRIS integrations. From the start, we knew integrations would be critical to our success, and we set a high standard for selecting the right partners.

Over the past year, our experience with Merge has been exceptional. Their platform has enabled us to efficiently expand integrations across multiple categories, allowing us to stay focused on our core product. When unique challenges or support questions arise, the Merge team is always there to provide prompt and effective solutions, helping us accelerate our development and stay on track with our roadmap.

Managing integrations—whether it’s resolving issues, applying updates, or ongoing testing—can be a significant burden on engineering teams. Merge has completely taken that load off our shoulders, saving our engineers hundreds of hours annually and freeing them to focus on building what matters most. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

Some their integration partnerships, can be "difficult" to work with. There have been times where the integration has gone down, and it hasn't been on Merge, it is has been on the vendor they are integrating with. The good news, is that Merge was super collaborative with us, and talked us through everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

We primarily rely on Merge for their HRIS integrations, which have been incredibly valuable to us. These integrations have saved us significant time, money, and relationship capital. Without Merge, individually brokering these relationships would be both time-consuming and expensive, requiring considerable manpower and financial resources. Merge has streamlined this process, allowing us to allocate our efforts and resources more effectively. Technically the product is great. But the Business Development as a Service is really the big value add. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

We use Merge to pull in data from HRIS software to help companies provide services to their employees. We could have spent hundreds of hours building and maintaining custom integrations across the 20+ integrations we provide via Merge today. Instead they make it fairly easy to connect to different HR systems and safely pull in employee data.

Their customer support tends to respond within a business day typically, especially if you get the plan with a Slack channel.

I like how easy it is to show my customers that we aren't pulling in sensitive payroll data to the API (as our service does not need that data, though I believe Merge can use it if your service needs it) because you can toggle which fields sync on and off very easily. Generally HR managers can also decide whether Merge has access to that information at all.

I am not an engineer, just an administrator that trains customers on setting up these integrations, but the software is straightforward enough that it's fairly intuitive for me to use their admin site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

Some HR systems are very easy to connect to, and all they require is the HR admin to log in with a username and password. Some HR systems, like ADP, are more complicated setups that take 20+ minutes and if you mess up a step you need to start over completely. I think that is more in the nature of the original HR software than on Merge's side, to be fair.

Their documentation could be better, sometimes it is out of date compared to UI changes in the HR system I'm trying to implement. Troubleshooting errors can be a little complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Merge?

The thing I like best about Merge has been the support we've gotten from the team. The product and documentation are definitely good, but it is inevitable to run into challenges with integrations. The customer success team has gone above and beyond in helping us to meet deadlines and the needs of our customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

The thing I like least about Merge is that I wish they were just focused on Applicant Tracking System integrations. In my role that is the only type of integration we are focused on, and I think the experience could be even better if Merge focused solely on the ATS space. This is definitely a selfish perspective. If we ever aim to integrate with HRIS or CRM, I'm sure we will be happy that Merge has more to offer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge gives us a giant headstart when we are looking to add integration support for a new Applicant Tracking System. Instead of starting from scratch and having to digest the documentation of the underlying ATS, we can use the Merge Unified API. The Unified API will probably not work 100% for any new integration, but it still saves you ~70% of the pain. The logging + API Tester + Passthroughs help you to close the gap on the last 30%, and get your integration working.

In cases where understanding of the underlying API has been hard to come by, Merge has stepped in and been a huge help. We've felt fully supported by their team, and I would argue that this has been the most impactful part of our experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

Having worked with third party integrations for most of my career, I know full well the pain and cost that comes associated with this type of work. Merge's product removes the majority of this pain.

By offering a unified API, great documentationa, a straightforward implementation and an incredibly responsive suppor team, I'm now to integrate with a plethora of providers with minimal work from my end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

A unified API comes with its own set of challenges as it is to be expected, so while Merge caters for 90% of the use cases, sometimes one needs to use the escape hatch and bear the pain of talking to providers directly when something is needed that is not on the usual trodden path. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge is providing a unified API for data providers and that means that, from my point of view, integrating new providers takes a minimal amount of work (if any at all). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Merge?

The Unified API has been a game-changer for us, allowing smooth data transformations across platforms like Justworks and Gusto. It’s saved us a ton of time and effort, and the setup was impressively fast—probably the quickest we’ve seen in terms of integrations. The platform itself is intuitive, making it a breeze to use day-to-day. And I can’t say enough about the customer support team; they’re super responsive and always jump in quickly when we need a hand.

A feature we really appreciate is the API Tester. It’s been incredibly handy for pinpointing issues, letting us confirm right away if a hiccup is coming from the source data. And passthrough tables? Lifesavers. They allow us to bring in extra data beyond the Unified API model, which has been a huge help when we need that added flexibility.

Syncing data with Merge is seamless and just works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Merge?

We did hit a few snags with an integration in beta that made it a little tricker than expected, but their support was fantastic and offering a quick workaround that got the job done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Merge solving and how is that benefiting you?

Merge has taken the headache out of integrating multiple data sources. With Merge, we don’t have to worry about juggling individual API integrations; it’s all simplified in one place. This has saved us loads of development time and created a more efficient data workflow across all our platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
