"One-Stop Shop for Social Media Management with Stellar Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I primarily use Meltwater for social media management, and the 'Publish' feature is the one I use the most. I really appreciate the content and calendar management capabilities, and the fact that it generates easy reports. Meltwater's customer support is great, with quick messaging in the system, and my client support and account managers are the best! I also like being able to post one piece of content across social media platforms, which reduces the need to post content manually. Overall, it seems like a one-stop shop for social media and media relations, and the initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

"Efficient tool for media monitoring"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I appreciate Meltwater for its reporting capabilities. The social media publishing tool (despite being in its early days) works very well, and I also enjoy using their media outreach tool to target journalists by beat/region/reach/etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

The social media publishing tool, Engage, has some limitations, especially related to video posting. It compressed our videos and they become blurry. I'm not in charge of our departments budget, but I am told that Meltwater is quite expensive, however, it does offer a lot of different reporting tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Data Insights, But Needs Stability Improvements"
5/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I really like Meltwater. I find the Boolean logic very satisfying to write, and I enjoy the complex nature of crafting these algorithms. I also like how I can quantify and provide interfacing reports based on concepts using data, as I'm a very data-driven person. I'm a big fan of the insight reports and have been getting into the dashboards more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

The more data that you pull, the more I run into errors. It says too much data, issues like that. When I create working reports or dashboards, they suddenly don't work if time goes by, so I have to redo things all the time. I find the system buggy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great product for digital media success!"
4/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

The Meltwater tool has a lot of features, so many so that it may feel overwhelming at first, but they are clearly demarcated in the software. Particularly useful for us are the Media Relations tool, which allows us to quickly find journalists active across the world, as we are active and invest in multiple countries. The other features that are incredibly useful not just for our stakeholder management team, but also other internal stakeholders, are the automated Daily news Alerts, which provides a comprehensive overview of where we've been mentioned in the media, so much so that we were able to cancel another subscription we used for media monitoring and allocate those resources elsewhere.

Customer support has also been great, the success managers (while they do rotate out fairly often) are proactive and have helped support our journey throughout, particularly with trainings, onboarding new users, and refining our media monitoring and searches. And the new AI Mira chatbot, while having some bugs, has made it much easier to search for contacts and journalists! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

The platform can sometimes be a bit laggy on web, so it does take a while to load at points, but given the amount of resources it provides it is understandable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Media Database That Makes Journalist Research Fast and Easy"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

Its comprehensive database of media contacts helps us save time when researching who might be the best person to reach out to for a particular story. The embedded social media profiles, along with links to journalists’ work, also help us understand not only what their beat is, but whether our story is truly a good fit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

No complaints at this time. We don’t use it for pitching, though, since all of our outreach is 1:1. Our process is a bit more laborious, but it has still led to good results so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Media Monitoring with Some Complexity"
4/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I use Meltwater for media monitoring, and what I value most about the software is its ability to consolidate a large volume of media intelligence into a single, structured platform. The real-time alerting capabilities are particularly great for tracking relevant brand and industry mentions across news, social media, and industry mentions. I also appreciate that insights and media data can be exported to Excel for further analysis or integrated into visualization platforms such as Tableau. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

It is a comprehensive platform, but it has its own flaws too. For example, the interface sometimes can feel too complex, especially for new users, and it may take some time to fully onboard users. Additionally, refining search queries and filters can require trial and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Media monitoring for Canadian PR agency work made easier by Meltwater"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

Ability to monitor for Canadian media coverage - makes it easy to keep track of mentions for our clients and also stay on top of any competitor news. Setting up daily digest reports and alerts for mentions has been very helpful. I also really like the Media Relations add-on and the ability to search for outlets or journalists based on a number of filters. The Canadian publication and journalist database seems to be quite robust and growing, which we found was lacking with other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

While there's a lot more Canadian representation than we found with other competitor platforms, I do find some of the new features a bit clunky when putting in Canadian filters for searches. Using the Mira AI Companion/Studio, for example, sometimes hangs and fails to produce responses or results when we search for Canadian journalists (the press release/pitch function with the 'search for media who would be relevant to pitch for this' option often does not produce any results and hangs in the process of searching). I find that we get more results by using fewer filters, but a geographical search is important for the business and clients we serve, so think there's some opportunity to enhance the experience for users outside of the USA. "Best-in-Class UX: Intuitive and Easy to Use Across Platforms"
4/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

The UX is the best I’ve seen across different platforms. It’s easy to use and feels very intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

The support ticketing system is not the best. In particular, extracting data to understand adoption and user KPIs is very, very difficult. The segregation of duties around roles and responsibilities is also not easy at all. From a technical perspective, it’s not the best, and we’ve also had a lot of issues with the API connection. Overall, they could improve on the technical side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Media Monitoring, Needs Pricing Flexibility"
4/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I like Meltwater's ability to bring media monitoring, social listening, and analytics into a single, easy-to-use platform. A standout feature is the breadth of coverage across news, online publications, and social media channels, allowing me to get a comprehensive view of brand perception and competitive activity without switching between multiple tools. The onboarding team provided useful guidance on setting up dashboards, alerts, and keyword searches, which helped us get value from the platform quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

There are a few areas that could be improved. Like certain features are available only in higher tier plans, which may limit access for smaller teams. Improving the learning curve and making some advanced capabilities more accessible would make the overall experience even better. It would be helpful to make advanced analytics and reporting features available in more pricing tiers, or offer modular add-ons so organizations can access specific capabilities without upgrading to a significantly more expensive plan. "Not perfect but the best there is!"
4/5
What do you like best about Meltwater?

I like that the product is constantly being updated and it's a fast-moving company. Support is available 24/7 and there's a sense from talking to account teams and attending events, that Meltwater has an ambitious culture. It's also an easy-to-use interface. Cision offers almost all the same things - but it's slower to integrate new technology and the people there are slow to respond and less eager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Meltwater?

Lack of transparency in the sales process. My most recent experience with their sales team left me disappointed and distrustful. That wasn't my experience in the past so it was disappointing.

Product-wise, I love that Meltwater is at the cutting edge but the new products are unrefined, buggy, and often useless. Still, I trust that in time they'll be usable but the contrast between the blue sky language int he sales pitch and the reality of using the AI, for example, is jarring. Mira is not very bright.
