If you joined different workspaces in mattermost you still have only one single point for private chats. So you don't have to switch workspaces here. It's easy to create new group chats. There are a lot of options like private channels, public channels or just direct message group chats. I also like the layout and colours. Different notification settings make communication transparent. Easy integration of zoom. search function works very well. So far I found everything again that I was looking for :D **What do you dislike about Mattermost?** There is no possibility to schedule messages or mark them as unread. This is the biggest disadvantage. sometimes the zoom link does not appear. file sharing is not that good, as there is no direct integration. however for my purposes it does not matter. **What problems is Mattermost solving and how is that benefiting you?** it is improving cross-company communication. Especially for agile teams in a self-management structure, it's okay. But the most important fact is to increase security. So it is part of our GDPR compliance. It pretty much has all the features you are used to from Slack but you are completely in control yourself. We used Slack in the past but that proved to be not a good solution as it randomly started deleting messages. We can mold the software to our company and not the other way round which is the problem with most of the other player in the market. **What do you dislike about Mattermost?** There are only two dislikes I have found with the system which can be made better. One is the notification system. The notifications in public and private channel are not clear which has been informed to the customer support team. Second thing is that there are certain features which cannot be used as an add on feature based pricing and the most expensive licenses has to be purchased. **Recommendations to others considering Mattermost:** If you are into the mix of purchasing an out of the box product with the touch of open-source system, then go with Mattermost as it will give you the freedom to turn the product as per your requirement. **What problems is Mattermost solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mattermost has helped us streamlining our communication mechanism in our company which was missing prior to changing. The biggest benefit we have realised is the software being open source. This feature has given us so much benefits in changing the software to company requirements than the other way around. Also, sharing files have become much more easier as prior to this it was mostly through email but now we can send it quickly over Mattermost without any issues. As we have employees throughout the world, getting in touch with everyone in one channel was quite time consuming and confusing but Mattermost gives us the option to create a better communication structure for sure. ### 26. Tickets in the queue that used to revolve around 50 per month have been cut down to about 5-6. With Mattermost's persistent chat feature, end users are able to solve issues by quickly searching for a solution that other's may have faced, or by asking questions directly to the Enterprise Help Desk channel to get a quick response. In addition, file sharing, such as sharing a PowerPoint presentation that needs to be worked on by multiple people. Cutting out email as the middle man has proved beneficial and productive. ### 28. What can Slack really offer you that Mattermost can't? Keep in mind that Mattermost is more or less a drop-in replacement, also in terms of integrations. If something is said to work and be compatible with Slack, chances are it is also compatible with Mattermost, and will work just the same. **What problems is Mattermost solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used Mattermost to replace an XMPP setup. The primary driver for moving away from XMPP was easier of setup for users, especially on mobile, and easy integrations with other systems. Push notifications and better support for roaming users have also been welcome additions. It's not quite as fancy as slack, and it moves slower but it works very well and as an operator I almost never have to deal with managing the system. Once it's set up and running, it's a work horse that just goes. Upgrades are very easy. We've upgraded the entire system several times, and have only needed a few minutes (less than 10m) each time. We've never had an issue with upgrading. **What do you dislike about Mattermost?** There have been some annoying bugs in the mobile clients. Enterprise support has been able to help get urgent issues fixed for us. iOS is better supported than Android. **Recommendations to others considering Mattermost:** It's very reliable, and works very well.
