instant access and instant answers to colleagues which helps cut down on email clutter! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mattermost?

not as responsive as other messaging platforms...sometimes is a little buggy. E.g. if MM's messaging platform was more closely modelled after the iMessage experience, I think it would be much, much better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

reaching out to different teams quickly and getting answers quickly. Keeping a 'consciousness stream within a team to discuss in a productive manner vs getting tied up in email death'. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mattermost?

- Fast installation

- Single binary design

- Good web chat experience

- GitLab integration out of the box (Notifications on new comments, merge requests)

- Webhook intgration

- Perfomance

- Using battle tested db PostgreSQL Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mattermost?

- No packages for Debian, CentOS (packages could improve upgrade process dramatically)

- No custom oauth support (deal breaker for our team)

- Mobile apps could see an improvement (mobile apps from Rocket Chat are generally more pleasant to use) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mattermost?

I like the fact that it is highly extensible and open. The ability to run on local servers is also a plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mattermost?

I think the Administrative interface could be better. Ability to run any command that is currently only run from the command line, but it runnable from the Administrative Console (i.e. deleting a user) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mattermost?

Mattermost is an open source clone of slack, this allows us to host our own instance which gives is greater control of the platform. The features have diverged from a straight clone of slack and have started exceeding slack in usefulness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mattermost?

The release schedule means that slack will often be offline for updates. The support structure is more limited than slack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mattermost:

Switch from slack to mattermost. It is open source and is in our opinion heading in a better direction. It may not be the right solution for large companies though. We are medium size but any larger and the support slack provides might be worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mattermost solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed to be able to host our own version control provider. We chose gitlab for this which integrates well with mattermost. This allowed us to continue using the slack/GitHub interface that everyone was used to while using open source tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Messages are kept for a longer time and it has more features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is not easy to download the desktop version. I wish it would automatically open when I log in on my computer.
