What I appreciate about Matter is that it creates a dedicated space and provides reminders to give feedback and kudos to teammates. Feedback is crucial for performance, yet it's often only given during really good or really bad times. I like that Matter prompts me to do it regularly, even on weeks when I have to dig deep to offer meaningful feedback. What I initially disliked about Matter has become an opportunity for growth. There were weeks when I felt, 'Ugh, I have to do this, but I have nothing to say—it feels so phony.' I do get frustrated when my teammates don’t approach it the same way, especially when reactions, rather than the content itself, seem to drive the value in the system. For example, a co-worker might say something surface-level or funny, and it gets a lot of likes, which then gets flagged as valuable feedback.
