**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

I learned to use MATLAB at university. I love the ease of use. It gives me the ability to solve problems without much manual work. It automates things you wouldn't consider automated. With all the packages, you rarely need to write functions. The syntax is very easy to understand and the error messages are meaningful, which helps to correct the error quickly. It is a very good way to learn algorithms and a good way to develop some software skills. The user interface is very easy to use, the language is very intuitive and flexible.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

The small print of Matlab is very difficult to read, especially when you write a lot. It needs some kind of automatic error or duplicate button in case users accidentally duplicate several lines or want to duplicate several lines of code. It is not the most efficient or fastest programming language.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

It is truly an amazing software for engineering students. It can be useful for electrical, mechanical, and computer science students to solve different aspects of problems. Somehow it is expensive to buy, but many institutions have their own subscriptions for students so they can use it for free.

  ### 13. Excellent computer program

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberto I. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

Matlab is a very powerful software with a lot of functionalities for many sectors. Basically, what makes it so useful is having a lot of tools already written in C++ code that you only have to invoke with a simple instruction. This is a great advantage compared to compiled programming languages.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

Matlab has a significant disadvantage, which is that despite being very well optimized, it will always run slower than languages not based on others like C or Java. However, Matlab has tools to translate your code to C and create an executable so that you only have to run that file and save yourself many hours with complex codes. The problem is that it is a very intricate tool to use and requires prior knowledge of C.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

Even though the license is expensive, MATLAB is well worth it.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our organization, we mainly use it for econometric and statistical analysis, as well as machine learning, or "aprendizaje máquina" in Spanish. Uses for which Matlab fits like a glove, as it has tools exclusively designed for this kind of work, saving you a lot of coding hours and headaches.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

MATLAB allows you to develop computational intensive applications very conveniently. This is down to its matrix-based backend which allows efficient scientific computing. Also, its very high-level programming syntax enables people to get used to it very quickly.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

It does not allow you to develop interactive graphical user interfaces. Moreover, since it directly interprets your code, rather than compiling, its backend is much slower then other programming languages.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

If you are looking for developing a mathematical or computationally intensive tool, MATLAB is what you are looking for. MATLAB also offers several toolbox such as SIMULINK, BIOINFORMATICS Toolbox, Curve Fiting and several other, which make it extremely useful for people from all communities.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used MATLAB for developing a toolbox related to my research. The biggest benefit, in my opinion, was the MATLAB compiler which allowed me to generate executable files (despite it being commercial).

**Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | Senior Software Development Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

MATLAB, not at all like different SDKs, has a ground-breaking console. You can do anything specifically through the MATLAB comfort with no compelling reason to compose an entire C/C++ program to do straightforward things.
The best thing that MATLAB has, for me is the easy way that you can creat a basic and natural GUI with a great wizard.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

Frame prerequisites real-time simulations back off GUI reaction time.
The most noticeably awful thing I found is that when your GUI begins to develop and you have numerous articles, the execution begins to diminish rapidly and at times it begins to crash.
Something else is that you can't have in excess of one capacity in each record. That is to say, you can't make a sort of library in one .m record. In the event that you have distinctive capacities, you need diverse records, and the span of your undertakings increment a considerable measure.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

Highly recommended powerful software.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MATLAB is a great and useful software for programming. If I talk about Business problems then i would like to say this software is a blessing at work. It proves that it is an excellent and powerful software by itself.

  ### 38. Review of Matlab

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miguel R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

There are so many options available in Matlab from basic to complex operations, such as performing basic mathematical operations for high-end filter design.

The visualization capabilities are excellent, as is Matlab's ability to do matrix algebra. Once I rewrote my code to take advantage of matrix and vector calculations in Matlab, it sped up my program. It's easy to find help in the online community for any problem that may arise. In that sense, it's very easy to learn the language on your own through trial and error.

Finally, I love the huge collection of libraries and functions provided by the Matlab community. It has implementations of the latest works and techniques.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

Matlab seems very difficult to learn, especially due to the difficult programming language used to generate scripts. Additionally, the license to use Matlab is relatively expensive and there isn't much open source code available due to the licensing requirement, so many people choose not to use it.

Many tools seem to have very clear features, but they are costly. Sometimes, the errors that occur during debugging are not very clear, however, after researching online, they make sense.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

Matlab is a great tool for any user; from beginners to advanced users. It can interpret a large amount of data and provide meaningful results in a short time. A lot of practice using tutorials would help make it easier to use.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Matlab to process large datasets derived experimentally, to analyze them and generate various types of graphs as output. Additionally, I use it for EEG and MEG analysis.

  ### 42. Text encryption with Matlab

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose Antonio C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

It is very useful for us to use Matlab at work.

The program is very scalable and very useful for team programming of different modules.

The last work we did was using the DES (Data Encryption Standard) encryption code. It was programmed by 2 engineers and the matrix-based working method of Matlab was of great help to us.

Without a doubt, you can select the way it displays results on the screen.

Very useful also in the field of engineering, as it can read Excel files and work with them.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

If you don't have a programmer/computer scientist mindset, it's a bit difficult to use.

You have to be very attentive to the type of data you are working with so you don't get lost.

A big flaw I saw was that Matlab does not use an international ASCII Code, but rather has its own.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complex problems of:
-calculations of shooting
-programming of text encryption codes
-matrix resolution of equations

  ### 43. One of the best simulation and analysis software for engineering.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

Its programming language is very easy to understand, I like to have both the Simulink for simulations with objects and the GUIDE for graphic simulators. You can make a large variety of graphics that can be customized to make it visually interesting. Allows the use of equations in many Simulink blocks
It also provides the opportunity to generate .exe files,

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

It's a very heavy software, the download and installation time is long. To have two files that are in different folders, you have to change the location of the software in each folder. This is uncomfortable. It's all I do not like because the software in general meets my expectations

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

I highly recommend this software. With it you can perform your simulations accurately, with graphics and a high level of accuracy

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a thesis advisor, I've used this software with my students in their projects of simulations, frequency spectrum, magnetization, etc. The results have been very reliable and precise.

  ### 44. The best mathematical simulation program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julio D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

Undoubtedly, MatLab offers one of the best experiences focused on solving complex mathematical problems. The possibilities offered are very broad. From simulation to differential equations and matrix treatment, (almost) any mathematical problem can be solved in seconds using this program. Obviously, there are problems too complex, but using numerical methods can also provide approximations. It also offers a large community, with pre-created programs to save time.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

The interface is a bit outdated. You need to take a course to learn how to master the program. You also need solid mathematical knowledge. It can be somewhat expensive for novice users.

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

Make sure you have enough mathematical knowledge before using it

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Resolution of mathematical problems, differential equations, matrices, etc., in a short time to optimize industrial processes, which saves labor costs and shortens the deadlines.

  ### 45. Development of a cyber-physical system in MATLAB

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

I have managed to develop an environment that is compatible with IoT, so what I value most about Matlab is the implementation of the MQTT protocol through an AddOn and, as such, the implementation of different AddOns that allow adding versatility to the product. The ease of use is something noteworthy, and it also allows for exponential learning based on the constant use of the software.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

Sometimes it is quite cumbersome to read the code written in graphical interfaces developed through GUIDE. From my point of view, they should improve this tool. Another downside of Matlab is the level of system requirements specification for normal-advanced operation (I have tested it on a computer with an i3 processor and it does not run smoothly, whereas on a MacBook Pro with an i7 processor it works as expected).

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

I recommend the use of Matlab to those who need to use software that requires great computational power, and whose requirements allow them to use Matlab smoothly.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creation of a cyber-physical system that performs the transfer of information from a wastewater treatment plant. I have also used Matlab to support various subjects in which I was beginning to develop knowledge, such as the use of Simulink in control and automatic regulation tasks.

I was able to use some tools like heat map, to determine the shape of the flame for some fuels

  ### 47. Great tool boxes

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bashir I. | Graduate Teaching Assistant, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2018

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

The ability to process a variety of data. The interface is also user-friendly. the suggestion and notification of acceptable arguments is a good feature. This is because it makes it easier to trace errors from inputs

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

it is sometimes slow in loading. The lag when running computationally expensive methods is quite frustrating. I do understand it also depends on the power of the machine, but freezing the machine entirely comes from Matlab's memory consumption

**Recommendations to others considering MATLAB:**

The use of toolbar options saves a lot of time in typing codes and errors. For example imtool. It is easier clicking on the image from the workspace, selecting plots and them imtool, than to type the code. It also greys out unavailable options, which can save time

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Matlab for my academic research. I read images, then carry out operations on them. Matlab is good with statistical analysis, which I think makes it good for images.
