Majestic has by far the best backlink data of any tool I've seen. You can see backlinks to any of your own sites or any of your competitor sites. I love the reports that show cumulative link growth over time. It's one of the best ways to show clients that link building is critical to them; plus, when you categorize links coming into their conpetitors it tends to light a fire under them. The backlinks database for majestic is the best for non-US based companies. Have tried most of the other big tools, and while they many have excellent tools and easier interface, the accuracy of the data just isn't there yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I currently see as short-comings in the tool are very likely my own inexperience with the tool. have been using for less than 12 months and have not invested the time yet to go thru the tutorials - my bad.
Would like to see an ability to upload a disavow file and have own site scores recalculated based on that. I know it changes the playing field for comparing against competitors, but it also enables us to see if the pruning is having the desired effect (apart from what we see in the search results - the ultimate test). With regard to the disavow request, we might be able to get part of the way there, by allowing you to "tag" links as disavowed somehow, but our metrics are pretty complex and take something like 30 hours a time to calculate without flags, so we could not recalculate based on individual preferences.
On the training, Majestic does have a bit of a learning curve. Fair challenge. We provide multiple free routes to develop, though, and will continue to invest in these. we are also working on UX ideas to make the system more intuitive.
