If you don't ever plan to grow your subscriber base beyond the 2,000 mark, then MailPoet may work well for you. It's free and pretty easy to build a newsletter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's the first time I write a review for our subscribers and while I thought I'd share my experience to help other users avoid falling into the same trap as I did.
We have a list of close to 20k subscribers acquired over five years on a single website through an opt-in form. After we passed the 2000 mark, we were no longer able to send emails to our subscribers without becoming paying subscribers of MailPoet, which we understood.
Following a rebranding and redesign of the site, we decided to upgrade our MailPoet account as we were no longer able to send emails to our subscribers. Right after paying for the upgrade (99 euros / $120), MailPoet asked us to fill a form to explain how we had acquired those subscribers. After completing the form, we were told that our MailPoet account would be subject to approval.
I found the practice of charging a customer first, then requesting the user to go through an approval process borderline unethical. Why not be upfront and ask those questions before charging your customers? We were really disappointed by such business practices so we decided to cancel our subscription straight away. Little did I know that I couldn't do so during the approval process. So you pay for a month of subscription but can't use the service. I emailed the support team to cancel my subscription immediately. I got a response 9 days later. I was informed that our account was not approved and that I would be refunded of my payment.
A month later, not only have I not been refunded of my canceled subscription but worse, we have been charged for another month! With no way to cancel the subscription. What a joke! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

All in one integration with wordpress websites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Sensitive ban thresholds - I have 0 subscribers as just installed it and using premium, only emails going out were Woocommerce transactional emails - got an email saying it's being suspended. 2) This suspension above results in ALL clients using your mailpoet agency to be disabled. 3) The product specific emails for followups require users to be on the subscription list - I just wanted to send a thank you email for purchasing and use mailpoet to send this out after they buy a specific product, will not work unless they subscribe. MailPoet is an easy to use tool. I like it because it has predesigned templates to send newsletters with very attractive designs. Another feature that I like is that it can be used for free. I also like the fact that it allows up to a maximum of 1000 subscribers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I don't like about MailPoet is that it is completely in English and has no option to select another language. I consider that in order for the plugin to be more universal it should be translated in different languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use and the fact users and unsubscribe from certain lists. Support seems to be pretty responsive. Andrew is awesome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not sure about 1 user being on multiple lists, will they get multiple emails if a blog is under multiple categories? We have yet to really dive into that, but i have read concerns in some of the forums. So this one I'm not sure just yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The integration of my blog content directly into the Mail Poet emails makes sending fresh content to my readers seamless and easy. Since I publish new blog articles daily, there is always fresh content for my Mail Poet emails. The initial email design was "drag and drop" simple. The statistics reports that follow each campaign show how effective the platform is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't come across any drawbacks to the product. I know there is a great deal of technology going on that I really don't understand. I handle the content, Mail Poet handles the delivery, tracking, and statistic feedback that lets me know I am doing a good job without having to understand all of the "magic" that makes it happen. Mailpoet is perfect if you are looking to manage your own email marketing services linked directly with your Wordpress site. The best feature is that it integrates with Wordpress nicely, and everything can be completed in Wordpress (welcome emails, newsletters and segmentation) without having to use another service. Another feature is the flexibility in the settings on how to activate certain email triggers when people join a website, or new content is updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing I dislike, only a suggestion for improvement which is the premium version of mail poet 3 should have the ability to support bounce emails using external email services. The current workaround requires a 3rd party created a plugin which I don't like, as it's not fully supported by mail poet. To use the bounce service with mail poet the only current option is to subscribe to there entire email service, which is not ideal, especially for organisations like myself who are partnered with amazon SES.
My recommendation for the mail poet team, to further improve their product is to simply add the bounce service support to the premium plugin, or as a separate paid supported addon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

After considering many possible email marketing solutions, I chose Mailpoet because it seemed to offer the the most responsive methods of communicating with subscribers. I took it as far as I could using the free plugin, then decided to upgrade to the premium version. This allowed me to request technical assistance on some issues that I was otherwise unable to resolve. The response was fabulous. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Like any plugin there is a fairly steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Integrated ezine subscriber list right into my WordPress site means more frequent and easier communication with my double opt-in subscriber list. No more futzing around with fiddly MC external email list and building tedious newsletters, now I send amazing emails, much more frequently, directly out of my WP website. I wish it integrated with BookFunnel (maybe it will in the future), yet no more procrastinating on sending content. No more double-time with writing blog posts and also struggling to come up with ezine content. It's one step, and I'm always connecting others to my blog, so much easier and superior to an outside newsletter solution. Surprised more people are not using MailPoet. It is an uber-fast solution to creating and sharing content to connect with readers all from within the dashboard of one's own website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing that I don't like about the app. The app solves my issue of not sending ezines regularly (I just could not deal with use of external email applications such as MailChimp and so on). I love that I can use the MailPoet drag-and-drop features to create and send out professional-looking newsletters in minutes all from within the WordPress website dashboard. It is easy, peasy. We have now been using the plugin for several months. Especially the ease of setting up everything, and the growing number of options make this plugin a gem for developers. But also the fast and friendly support if there is a question or issue is a relief. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing we do not appreciate with MailPoet. There are still all kinds of wishes for an extension of the smart woocommerce automations, etc. but as we have noticed, we are working hard on this and listening carefully to users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy to install and set up the form, mails and newsletters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish there were more templates to choose between. Other than that I have no complaints yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
