When using a shared IP, it sometimes gets polluted and I have to manually ask to be moved to a better IP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm using mailgun to circumvent the expensive fees of using an ESP such as mailchimp for lists with more than 50,000 recipients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mailgun has a great API and it offers sending messages via curl commands or smtp connections. Easy to use, logical GUI, 10k free messages / month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

I'd like to see some alerts when email sending behaviour is different from what it used to be. When something on my site gets hacked and used for spam. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Easy to start with, can scale up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Transactional message delivery (logs, password request emails, customer order emails, small newsletter sendings). Messages pass-thru rate is a lot higher than sending via badly configured server without email sending reputation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

Mailgun is great because of how easy it is to create new emails programatically. We use it to send emails from our application. We get a lot of requests for new emails or changes to existing emails. Mailgun's API makes these changes easy and fast. Also being able to segment and tag emails based on simple header parameters means we can handle all of our use cases simply.

The documentation is also really useful when trying to figure out new features or change how we use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

We do not use the templates available on the front end. We send over the email as we want it sent. The few times I have looked into their templates I have found them not very user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use Mailgun to send our user and admin messages form our application to the users and administrators. Mailgun has allowed us to easily setup and manage these emails from within our app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

Easy to configure and integrate into Wordpress Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

Free IP's frequently get greylisted or blocked by corporate mail filters Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Try with one or two domains first, if you get lucky your IP will be clean and whitelisted and you will not need to upgrade. 10,000 free is more than enough for most small business users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Good dedicated IP for sendability and troubleshooting delivery problems. We like having authenticated SMTP access and also API access should we choose to automate our sending. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I suggest using Mailgun because they provide a good service as well as great customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

The reliability and the logs have been the most powerful features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

The logs could still be more powerful. I don't like, for example, that I need a full email address when searching. A lot of searches I've done in the past have been for a domain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Hotmail/MSN/Live email addresses have been a major issue (i.e. in terms of rejections), but this is probably on Microsoft's end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

We need to email clients and customers using reliable, non-blacklisted IPs and the service has done that well for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

The ease of use of the API, it's clear and documented well. The logging in the application is great, it has helped us many times in development and in production to troubleshoot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

The receive mail API webhook was lacking in parsing some rtf emails, was worked around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mailgun:

Use the API, check out the domain level logging, it's extremely useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sending emails on behalf of our users, ingesting emails and storing for our users. Much easier to setup, manage, and use than an actual SMTP server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Mailgun?

Mailgun offers 1,000 free emails per month, which is great for using it on small projects for free and then seamlessly scaling when the customer grows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mailgun?

If I had to pick something to dislike, I wish the 'routing' feature had a better scripting editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mailgun solving and how is that benefiting you?

I used Salesforce and needed a way to send emails outside of their system. It is free, works over HTTPS connections, and is a dead simple interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
