What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

Internet Evidence Finder (IEF) was the first Magnet Forensics product that I used many years ago. Since then I have been following the company and recommending your products every time I have a conversation about DFIR. I truly believe that a product like AXIOM Cyber brings efficiency and consistency to the investigation process.

I am now in the process of creating a POC using MAGNET Automate. I believe that this product will help me to automate manual processes that shouldn't be part of a digital forensics analyst concern and allow them to focus on what adds more value to the business that is (Doing Analysis). What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

First of all, there is nothing about Magnet that I dislike, but there are things that I would try to improve. A downside that I see related to AXIOM Cyber is the deployment on demand of the agent. Especially during a critical Incident Response investigation, the analyst is under a lot of stress and pressure. If we add to that the uncertainty if he will be able to deploy the agent to preserve data, that is too much. I should be able to deploy AXIOM Cyber agent as part of the gold image across the entire plant and use it when I need it.

Another thing that I would suggest implementing is an AXIOM Cyber API. MAGNET Automate is integrated with AXIOM Cyber, but what about a company that already has an orchestration tool implemented? I am not saying that Magnet should provide API access for free. Instead, you should offer it as an additional service and charge for that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best Forensic Suite I've ever used!"

What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

Conduct forensic acquisitions from Desktops, Mobile devices, and Cloud sources in a single tool. Then analyze and integrate evidence sources into a single tool with terrific reporting and intuitive flagging based on the case type. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

The acquisition tools cannot be used in a virtualized machine/environment. I would prefer to stay inside a single VM for the entire investigation for obvious malware reasons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

Their support is quite responsive. When we were attempting to get a trial done to see if the software and the licensing server will work in our environment, the team was quick to respond to any issues we encountered and answered any questions we had. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

This isn't a dislike, but learning about the software itself and how it operates is always a little troublesome at first, but once we figure it out, we know this will be a very useful tool in our curriculum. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Support and Excellent Tools for Law Enforcement"
5/5
What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

I like the ease of use of the software - In my experience, it has been the most straightforward platform to obtain web-related data. Web history, search history, email parsing, username information, and user tokens are parsed well and given up in a straightforward manner. I also like that each piece of evidence is sourced so that it can be cross-checked either using Axiom or by any other tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

I would love a dark mode. I have also found that trying to re-process a piece of evidence which has already been processed a little bit unintuitive and requires some tweaking. I have not tried it in a while, but the last time I did, I essentially ended up with two evidence items in my case which were the same but had been processed differently. I think that going back and adding some parsing to an artifact that has already been parsed of other things should be easy. For instance, if I have carved a hard drive for image artifacts and then later learn that I require any phone backups from the device, it should be easy to just add that and process it into what I already have, without duplicating the evidence object in the dashboard and in an easy way. What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

AXIOM is great for internet based cases, as well as quickly viewing videos. Also, customer support is always wuick to respond and answer any question we've had. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

Loading an extraction from Graykey is a little confusing, AXIOM works fine with it...but making sure it is done in the right steps is a concern. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Support for different forensics areas. Functionalities are available for users to navigate, filter and run advanced searches. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

Nothing to dislike at this time but, would like it more if AXIOM could collect directly from Signal applications like Whatsapp and other social media applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

Magnet Forensic is a new player in digital forensics. It provides tools that are useful for data analysis in criminal investigations. While the tools aren't perfect and could be improved, they are user fiendly and well made. It's much better than what we currently use (FTK, Encase). I like the support we received from Kayla and the solution consultant at Magnet Forensic, to evaluate our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

I tried Axiom. There are things I like and things I dislike. Like FTK, the tool does struggle when there is a lot of data. There should be a way to cancel tasks that takes more than 5 seconds. (because I'll do something else; filter more; etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very good tool."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

I like the support it has for various apps. I like to be able to quickly navigate from the artifacts, registry, and file-system view. Tagging is really simple with this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

I would like to see a few features added. I would like to be able to navigate to the file-system view and highlight a certain pathway and review the artifacts in a thumbnail view. This would be extremely helpful in child exploitation cases. I would also like to see a preview feature at some point where we can add a device and simply review the evidence before processing. "My go to forensic tool for the variety of devices and accounts my team sees on a regular basis."
5/5
What do you like best about Magnet Forensics?

There are numerous things I like about Magnet Forensic's products. The top features for me and my team are portable cases to provide to our partner investigators and the ease of locating and bookmarking key artifacts saving substantial time within our investigations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Magnet Forensics?

Dislikes are rare when it comes to the Magnet suite of products. For the most part, anytime I have encountered an issue within one of the products or had a suggestion to improve a product it has always been met with a prompt response, resolving the concerns. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
