What do you like best about LUNA?

We use LUNA in an academic environment. We manage about 250,000 images across about 40 unique collections and LUNA makes this task a joy. LUNA excels on the user front end. Search and display is incredibly quick. Overall, the system is highly configurable. The meta-data options are endless you can make it simple or make things incredibly complicated. What do you dislike about LUNA?

The one thing that I don't like about LUNA is that for our public collections, it is difficult to keep out web robots and spiders from entering the collections and attempt to index them. While we have set up and Apache proxy to stop some of this unwanted traffic I wish this was a function inside LUNA. Other that that LUNA is solid and mature. Recommendations to others considering LUNA:

If you are in the Academic or Museum business this is one of the best tools that are available to host and manage tens of thousands of images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is LUNA solving and how is that benefiting you?

The problem was that we needed to serve tens of thousands of images, do it fast, and make them easy to find with simple keywords. LUNA does this and does it impressively. We also needed the ability to build collections fast and that feature custom meta-data. LUNA is successful in this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
