## Looker Reviews
 ### 1. Real-Time Insights and Interactive Dashboards Elevate Analytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Balo Y. | Operations Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like how its interactive dashboards provide real-time drill-downs, ad-hoc queries, and access to row-level details on governed data. This enables us to gain quick insights and make decisions directly within our applications through embedded analytics. The graphical representations also help us clearly understand the details of our data.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker is a great app, but it uses its own modeling language, which can make it somewhat complex for new or non-technical users to learn. If Looker offered an easier learning guide, it would help users overcome this challenge. Aside from that, Looker is impressive overall.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker is assisting us in addressing data inconsistency issues by managing metrics through its LookML feature. It offers real-time dashboards and predictive insights via Vertex AI, as well as embedded analytics. This combination is streamlining our operational analysis, such as revenue tracking and inventory optimization, making it easier for business analysts to handle our project data.

 ### 2. Excellent for Data Exploration Once You Get Past the Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishal D. | Quality Assurance Specialist, Gambling & Casinos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like that Looker makes it easy to explore and understand data. LookML helps keep reports and metrics consistent, and the connection with Google Cloud makes managing data smoother. I also like that you can dig into the details right from dashboards to find insights quickly.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker can be hard to learn at first, especially with LookML. Some charts and visuals are limited, and it can slow down with big datasets. The interface isn’t always friendly for beginners, and setup usually needs help from a developer. Better self-service guides would also make it easier to get started.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps us to centralize our company’s data from multiple sources and makes it easy to build consistent, shareable dashboards. It eliminates data silos and ensures teams are using a single source of truth for reporting. By empowering non-technical users to explore data without relying heavily on analysts, it speeds up decision-making and improves data transparency across departments.

 ### 3. Powerful LookML Modeling for Consistent, Governed Self‑Service Analytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karthik K. | Information Technology And Services Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Looker?**

What I like best about Looker is its powerful semantic modeling layer (LookML), which allows centralized and consistent metric definitions across the organization. It enables self-service analytics while maintaining data governance, reducing discrepancies in reporting. I also appreciate its seamless integration with modern data warehouses and its ability to create interactive, real-time dashboards that support data-driven decision-making.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

While Looker is powerful, its reliance on LookML can have a steep learning curve for new users, especially those without a technical background. Customizing complex dashboards sometimes requires developer support, which can slow down quick changes. Additionally, performance can depend heavily on the underlying data warehouse optimization.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves the problem of inconsistent reporting and disconnected data sources by providing a centralized semantic layer through LookML. It ensures that metrics are defined once and used consistently across dashboards, reducing discrepancies and manual data validation.

 ### 4. Excellent LookML Governance and Seamless Embedded Analytics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alok K. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker's semantic modeling layer through LookML provides excellent governance for our SaaS analytics. The ability to define metrics centrally and have them consistently used across dashboards reduces errors and saves significant development time. Integration with our PostgreSQL database on AWS is seamless, and the API access enables us to embed analytics directly into our product.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The learning curve for LookML can be steep for non-technical team members. While powerful, it requires SQL knowledge and understanding of data modeling concepts. The visualization options are more limited compared to dedicated tools like Tableau. Initial setup and deployment complexity can be challenging for smaller teams without dedicated data engineering resources.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker enables us to provide analytics to our SaaS customers without building dashboards from scratch. The centralized metrics layer ensures data consistency across our platform, reducing engineering time spent on ad-hoc reporting requests. It's also helping us make our product more data-driven by embedding analytics directly within our application workflows.

 ### 5. Transforms Data into Actionable Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven M. | Account Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I use Looker to analyze data across multiple sources and turn it into clear, actionable insights. I like how it makes complex data both accessible and actionable, and with custom dashboards and visualizations, I can see only the metrics and trends that I need, making it easier to monitor performance. It helps me create dashboards and build reports to track performance and monitor KPIs, which is great for answering business questions without needing constant support from data teams. This makes telling a compelling story with data for strategic conversations in sales a lot easier. Looker also solves the problem of fragmented and hard-to-access data by bringing everything into a single, trusted source of truth, eliminating the need to manually pull data from various tools or rely on ad hoc reports, saving time and reducing errors. I appreciate being able to pull up-to-date reports without waiting for manual exports or data teams to support, which ensures decisions are based on current information.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

There's a bit of a learning curve at first, which can require a bit more education upfront to maximize all of its capabilities. In addition, some reports or dashboards can load a bit slower when working with very large data sets, which can sometimes cause delays if pressed for time.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker consolidates fragmented data into a single source, eliminating manual data retrieval and reducing errors. It provides clear insights, enabling me to identify trends and make strategic decisions confidently, streamlining performance monitoring with custom dashboards and real-time reports.

 ### 6. Empowering Data Exploration with Robust Governance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Venkata M. | Bench Sales Recruiter, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I use Looker as a Business Intelligence and analytics tool to explore data and build dashboards and reports. I appreciate that it solves practical problems around visibility, consistency, and speed. Looker lets non-technical users safely explore data without breaking logic. What I like most is that it forces clarity and trust in the data, offering self-service without chaos and a live connection to the warehouse. A few things that genuinely work well are governance without killing flexibility and performance at scale. The initial setup was easy to understand and set up.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

A few things don't work as well, or could definitely be better with Looker. Explores can get overwhelming and performance tuning isn't always obvious.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves problems around visibility, consistency, and speed. It lets non-technical users safely explore data without breaking logic.

 ### 7. Powerful and Flexible Analytics Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rashini H. | Junior Business Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker excels in providing robust analytics and customizable dashboards. I appreciate how it allows me to connect multiple data sources, create interactive visualizations, and generate actionable insights without extensive coding knowledge. The platform is highly flexible and helps in making informed business decisions efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

One downside is that Looker can have a steep learning curve for beginners, especially when setting up complex reports or custom metrics. Additionally, initial setup and configuration may require significant time and technical expertise.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps me analyze large datasets and visualize business performance clearly, which improves decision-making and operational efficiency. It solves the problem of fragmented data reporting by providing a single platform for querying, visualization, and dashboard sharing, ultimately saving time and reducing errors.

 ### 8. Interactive Dashboards with Minimalist UX

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul W. | Student, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I love that Looker treats data modeling like software engineering, being organized and consistent, while keeping the front end simple enough for anyone to use. Unlike some other tools that look like complex airplane cockpits, Looker’s interface is very minimalist and shows you only what you need to see, which lowers the intimidation factor for new users. I also appreciate how Looker provides live, interactive dashboards that allow us to drill down into specific data points immediately, moving away from static PDFs or Excel sheets that become obsolete the moment they're shared. I mainly pair it with Snowflake as our database and connect it to Slack to automatically ping the team whenever our key metrics hit specific targets.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The visuals feel a bit stiff; it’s definitely function over form. Also, the setup is heavy—you really need a technical expert to handle the coding language initially.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker replaces outdated PDFs and Excel sheets with live, interactive dashboards, making data immediately accessible. It organizes data modeling like software engineering, while its minimalist interface simplifies user experience. It fixed our 'messy data' and unified our numbers, making it a critical tool compared to Tableau and Excel.

 ### 9. Powerful Business Intelligence Tool for Data-Driven Decisions

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** deneth p. | Product Development Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

What I like best about Looker is its ability to turn complex datasets into clear, interactive dashboards and reports. It makes data exploration much easier and allows me to drill down into details without needing advanced SQL skills. The platform helps teams collaborate by sharing insights quickly, and the customizable dashboards give a clear view of business performance. Its integration with Google Cloud also makes it scalable and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker can feel overwhelming for new users because of its steep learning curve, especially when working with LookML. The setup and implementation require technical expertise, which might not be ideal for smaller teams. At times, the loading speed for very large datasets can be slow. More intuitive drag-and-drop features would make it easier for non-technical users.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves the challenge of making data accessible and actionable across the organization. Instead of relying on static reports, it allows us to create real-time dashboards and drill into details to uncover insights. This helps different teams make data-driven decisions faster, improves collaboration, and reduces the dependency on IT for reporting. Overall, it saves time, increases transparency, and supports better business performance.

 ### 10. Empowering Ad Hoc Analysis with Accessible Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg W. | Manager, Digital Customer Success (Acquired by CoStar!) , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like that Looker is fully accessible, which means I don't need to go to our data or BI person to pull reports. I can ad hoc, build a query, and dive into the metrics that are really valuable to us. It's great for understanding customer segments and analyzing performance based on those metrics, like subscription levels, upgrade or downgrade status, and user activity. I appreciate the ability to create recurring reports that can be sent automatically. This automation makes Looker a bit easier to use. Overall, once you know how to build a query, Looker makes it pretty easy to replicate tasks, and it plays a crucial role in doing quick ad hoc analysis on our customer data.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Sometimes it's not really Looker's fault, but, because it's connected to Snowflake, it's not always 100% real time. It's near real time. So if there's certain complex queries or if I'm not able to find a field and what it means, then I have to go to our data team and that takes a little bit longer. So while it is self-service, there are areas that are a little bit more challenging and technical, and because I'm not the most technical end user, I'm not able to solve it on my own. I require assistance. So I think Looker is definitely a tool that requires a little bit more tech savviness to be able to solve some of the more complex issues.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Looker to do quick ad hoc analysis on customer data, analyze it in near real time, and segment groups to understand performance. It helps me identify underperforming segments and create reports for leadership without needing BI team assistance.

 ### 11. Powerful Data Visualization and Analytics Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sidath P. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker’s ability to turn raw data into interactive dashboards and clear visualizations is its strongest point. The modeling layer with LookML allows for consistent metrics definitions across the organization, reducing discrepancies in reporting. I also like how seamless it is to share reports with non-technical colleagues, ensuring decision-making is always based on the same source of truth. Its integration with cloud databases and the ability to embed dashboards into applications is extremely helpful.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The initial learning curve for LookML can be steep for new users who don’t have technical backgrounds. Dashboard loading times can sometimes be slow when handling large datasets. Additionally, pricing can be high for smaller organizations, and some advanced customizations require deeper technical knowledge, which reduces accessibility for non-technical users.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps us solve the challenge of unifying data across multiple sources and making it accessible to both technical and non-technical teams. Previously, we relied heavily on analysts to run SQL queries and generate static reports. With Looker, business users can explore live dashboards, drill into details, and make data-driven decisions without waiting on the data team. This has improved efficiency, reduced reporting bottlenecks, and created a single source of truth for metrics across the organization. It also allows leadership to track KPIs in real-time, improving overall strategic alignment.

 ### 12. Seamless BigQuery Integration Supercharges Finance Dashboards

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Being part of the Google Cloud ecosystem makes it a powerhouse for us. Integration with BigQuery is native and lightning-fast. For a Finance PM, this means I can pull transactional data from our platform into a dashboard in minutes without a heavy ETL process.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The learning curve is steep. Unlike "drag-and-drop" tools, you really need to understand LookML to get anything meaningful done. This makes it hard to "self-serve" for non-technical members of the finance team who just want to build a quick ad-hoc chart.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I deal with complex multi-party transactions (merchants, print providers, and shipping carriers). Calculating real-time unit economics across millions of transactions in spreadsheets was impossible. Looker’s in-database architecture (leveraging BigQuery) allows us to analyze granular transaction-level data without the "export-to-Excel" bottleneck. I can now track merchant P&L and print provider performance in real-time, allowing for much faster product roadmap adjustments.

 ### 13. Consistent Company-Wide Metrics with LookML and Easy AI-Powered Data Queries

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nataporn C. | IT Support, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Looker?**

The centralized LookML layer ensures our metrics are consistent company-wide, and the new AI-powered natural language queries make data accessible to everyone.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The steep learning curve for LookML and the premium price tag make it a significant investment that requires technical expertise.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves the critical problem of data silos and inconsistent metrics across our organization. Before Looker, different departments often had conflicting reports, but now we have a Single Source of Truth thanks to its centralized modeling layer. It has also eliminated the bottleneck on our data team; with its intuitive interface and AI-powered queries, non-technical users can now explore data and get insights independently. The biggest benefit is the ability to make real-time, data-driven decisions directly from our cloud data warehouse without waiting for manual report refreshes.

 ### 14. Easy-to-use platform with seamless integration and clear visualizations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pradhyum U. | Data Analyst, Accounting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

What I like most about Looker is its ease of use — the interface feels intuitive, so even non-technical users on my team can create and understand dashboards without heavy training. The ease of implementation was impressive too; once data sources were connected, we were able to start building dashboards quickly. I also value the ease of integration — Looker connects seamlessly with Google tools like BigQuery, Analytics, and Sheets, while also working well with external sources such as Excel or SQL databases. The number of features strikes a good balance: from filters and drill-downs to LookML for reusable data models, it’s powerful without being overwhelming.I find myself using Looker regularly, often on a daily basis, which shows how naturally it fits into my workflow and decision-making process.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The main challenge is the learning curve with LookML. While it’s incredibly powerful, less technical users may struggle at first. Large datasets can sometimes slow dashboard load times, and certain advanced visualizations don’t feel as polished compared to other BI tools. I’d also like to see more documentation and faster customer support responses on complex issues.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me, Looker Studio solves the problem of scattered reporting. Instead of pulling data manually from spreadsheets and different tools, I can bring everything into one place and build dashboards that update automatically. This saves a lot of time and makes it easier to track sales performance, marketing KPIs, and operational metrics without digging through raw data. The biggest benefit is how simple it is to share these insights with others — stakeholders understand the story instantly because the data is visual and interactive.

 ### 15. Great tool to visualise data from BigQuery

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

 ### 16. Strengthens Data Consistency Across Teams

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sannidhi p. | Project manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like Looker's modeling layer and how I can rely on it for analysis and decision making. It provides a single unbiased decision for every metric, helping me avoid conflicts and other problems. Its semantic modeling layer gives a single unbiased output for all metrics, which is really helpful for making business decisions as it avoids conflicts, emotional decision making, and ensures consistent results.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

I find Looker's developer environment and UI a little complicated to learn and use, especially for new users. It would be helpful if the developer environment were simplified a bit, and more integration of genAI could assist with this.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Looker for data analysis. It solves inconsistencies and errors in metrics across departments by unifying metrics via a single source. Its modeling layer gives consistent, unbiased outputs, aiding in conflict-free decision-making.

 ### 17. Empowers Teams with Consistent, Real-Time Analytics

What I like best about Looker is its ability to create a single source of truth through LookML, which ensures consistent metrics across teams. The platform integrates seamlessly with cloud data warehouses and allows users to explore real-time data without moving it. Its strong governance, scalability, and self-service analytics capabilities make it easy for both technical and business users to collaborate and make data-driven decisions.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

While Looker is a powerful analytics platform, it has a steep learning curve, especially for users who are not familiar with LookML. Building and maintaining models often requires strong technical expertise, which can slow down initial adoption. Additionally, dashboard customization options are somewhat limited compared to other BI tools, and complex reports may require developer support, reducing flexibility for non-technical users.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves the problem of inconsistent metrics and fragmented reporting by providing a centralized data model that ensures everyone works from the same definitions. By enabling real-time analysis directly on cloud data warehouses, it eliminates data duplication and reduces latency. This has improved data accuracy, increased trust in insights, and helped teams make faster, more informed business decisions.

 ### 18. Advantages & Disadvantages of using Looker

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vishal G. | Digital marketer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker is liked for its powerful, centralized LookML data modeling layer, which creates a single source of truth for data and allows for consistent, reusable metrics across an organization. It offers an intuitive user interface with self-serve data exploration capabilities, making it accessible to business users. Additionally, Looker is praised for its seamless integration with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other cloud data warehouses, its support for developers through APIs and SDKs, and its ability to support collaboration and data security.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Users often dislike Looker's steep learning curve, particularly with its proprietary LookML modeling language and complex features like data merging, which require significant manual effort and technical skill to set up. Additionally, performance issues such as slow dashboard loading times and lag, limited visualization options compared to competitors, and a costly price point for its features are frequent complaints from users. Other dislikes include issues with data connection stability, the need for workarounds on common tasks, and a sometimes buggy user interface.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker solves the problem of fragmented and inaccessible business data by providing a unified, semantic layer for data modeling, creating a single source of truth for all metrics. This empowers businesses by enabling self-service analytics, data-driven decision-making through interactive dashboards, and the ability to embed analytics into other applications. Users benefit from consistent, governed data, deeper insights into customer behavior and operations, and increased data engineering efficiency, leading to better business transformation.

**What do you like best about Looker?**

I like the connections Looker has with Google products, specifically BigQuery datasets and Google Sheets. Since our company mainly uses Google Suite, the infrastructure is already built on Google products, which makes it a lot easier to use.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

 ### 30. Great tool if you’re comfortable with SQL

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bharathi G. | Senior Data Analyst | Data Visualization, Modeling, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2025

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

I don’t like that it takes a lot of upfront setup with LookML, and even small changes usually need a developer. It’s not very friendly for non-technical users, especially if they just want to make quick edits or explore data on their own.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps us make sense of large amounts of data by turning it into clear, shareable dashboards. It’s solved the problem of relying on analysts for every small data request—now teams can explore the data themselves, which saves a lot of time and speeds up decision-making.

 ### 31. User-friendly, customizable, a game-changer for our Analytics and Overall MOPs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea G. | CEO & Founder / Senior Marketing Communications Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker has been transformative for how we manage and interpret data. It has become a tool we use weekly, if not daily. It has been central to our data consolidation and centralization process. We've combined sources including Google Analytics, Search Console, social, and custom spreadsheets that have completely changed how we approach reporting. It has helped us reduce time to generate reports, draw insights, and reduce errors. It was also easy to implement and scale. Looker has helped us build a culture of data-driven decision-making year-round, giving every team the tools and insights they need to operate effectively and efficiently. I have never had to reach out for customer support, which tells me the tool is doing what it is supposed to do.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

There are bugs sometimes with modules, where filters, charts, and data sources aren't syncying or go out of sync for no reason and won't update the visualization. That requires you to sometimes rebuild an entire project, which is very frustrating.
The learning curve for new users using customizations was a little steep. I didn't feel the online training /resources available was sufficient or well positioned. It's more like you're on your own or watching YouTube videos.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker tackles the fragmented data sources and inefficient reporting processes that most businesses have. Before using Looker, our data was siloed (Google Analytics, Search Console, custom spreadsheets, social, paid, and various other platforms), and was manually pulled together in a PowerPoint. Compiling reports was time-consuming and likely included human errors. Looker has centralized these data streams, giving us a single source of truth and eliminating hours spent on manual data corraling. Also, the easy integration of filters has allowed us to scale our services and serve more departments/clients. Instead of spending 3-4 hours in a report, I spend a few minutes monthly now. Of course, set up required hours, but it was worth the investment long-term.

 ### 32. LookML can create wonders if use wisely

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mayank k. | Senior Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Looker?**

1. Web Based tool - Easy to setup ,only require email Id and can easily reset password by tirgerring reset link from User Tab.
2. Various role available for different usecases - Looker can have read-only user, explore user and other users. So it provide right access for right persons.
3. Support 24*7 - Looker provide Customer support, in case you have problem related to product you can raise a ticket and you get answer fast.
4. Usage - Since it is web based various people can use it at a single time. Also we can open as many links and all will be seperate which is quiet good in looker.
5. Frequency of Use - You can use it 24*7 it provide dataframe usage which automatic refresh the data and we can create various schedules which run as per time frame.
6. Ease of Implementation - You can work upon various client making different folder with selective access and can also create security based on it.
7.Integration - Looker have various connectivity plugins and it can connect to nearly everything.
8. LookML Modelling - This is core of looker. via LookML you can create dashboards , persistent tables and can even do basic ETL.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

1. Don't give us option to upload csv and analyse - Looker always needs a dialect.
2. Can't fully establish row level and column level security - You can hide columns but you can't hide rows. Also, if it is a PHI data and you need to have limited access you can't to it easily. You have to do a lot to cater this.
3. Needs hands-on before working - Since looker is based on Lookml ,which is similar to SQL but one can't start at its own withou having some guidance.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1.Looker is making things dynamic for me. Schedules are running at its own since past 3 years and it is running good.
2. We have made very data-intensive and calculation-heavy visuals easily in looker with the help of persistent derive tables.
3. We are currently handling more than 6 clients in looker using the security feature.

 ### 33. Powerful BI Tool with Excellent Data Visualization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yasas W. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Looker?**

Looker makes it easy to transform raw data into meaningful insights with highly customizable dashboards and reports. Its LookML modeling layer is extremely powerful, allowing for consistency and scalability in reporting. The ability to drill down into data directly within dashboards provides real-time visibility, which is very helpful for decision-making. Integration with various data sources and Google Cloud services adds even more flexibility.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

The learning curve for LookML can be steep, especially for new users without a technical background. Some advanced customization requires knowledge of SQL, which may not be ideal for non-technical teams. Additionally, dashboard load times can be slower when working with very large datasets, and the cost can be on the higher side for smaller organizations.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker helps centralize and standardize reporting across different teams by providing a single source of truth for data. Instead of spending time manually pulling and cleaning data from multiple sources, Looker automates the process and makes insights easily accessible through dashboards. This has improved decision-making, saved time on reporting, and increased data transparency across the organization. By enabling real-time analysis and self-service reporting, Looker has reduced dependency on technical teams and empowered business users to access insights independently.

Looker has integrations with a lot of 3-rd party apps which actually makes it versatile.

Since it'a a product by Google, the community and customer support is obviously going to be great.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

Looker is quite complex to implement at first atleast for beginners in data domain and hence takes a good amount of effort in development and maintainence.

Also Looker can be way slow at times if you're asking it to handle a lot of complex data related transformations which might impact deliverables for tight deadlines.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looker is helping us to generate cool dashboards for our customers and provide them valuable business insights

We use looker heavily for generating all of our dashboards which are used by various teams to get business insights.

 ### 37. It is one of the best or rather is best Power BI Tool I have come across

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anand K. | Associate Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Looker?**

It is a I would say very powerfull Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Analytics platform that I have come across and I have used it in my previous projects, to do various tasks Like analyzing and visualyzing our data sets. Also I have a Google Cloud ecosystem which help me to easily collaborate and Integrate across various data Sources and delivering a better and faster dashboards and reports. One feature I would like to mention is that LookML language, It helped me to create a centralized model that made consistency across my whole team. also the various visualization options, including the bar charts or the heatmaps , or the geospatial charts are very helpfull to me. For a beginner like me the simplicity of the tool was very helpfull, but the complex tool like LookML or the SQL needed my tecnical attention.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

When I talk about the cons I would say that as we are having the powerfull data exploration and reporting tools, but the interface and underlying concepts of data modelling like (LookML) were a little complex for me. Since our project demanded the custom data Modelling and we were short of expert data engineers or analysts we found it tough as I had to learn and understand LookML (Looker’s own data modeling language) and also SQL.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Now there was a problem with my project where in the data was stored across multiple systems, databases and platforms (for my case in Silos). This problem caused a great difficulty for my team to get verified view of the data which made the reports generated outdated and inconsistent. Now Looker comes to the picture and it helped us centralize data from various sources like Google BigQuery or the SQL Databases into there single platform, This helped us ensuring the consistent reporting and gave the team a real time data, by eliminating the discrepancies between the cross functional teams thereby giving the decision makers reilable insights.

 ### 38. Great visuals and highly recommended.

It is difficult to use, pricing is quite high.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps businesses by making data more accessible, consistent, and actionable. It provides a centralised data model, ensuring everyone works with the same accurate information.
Since Looker queries directly from databases, the data is always up to date, leading to better real-time decision-making.
Also improves collaboration by allowing users to share reports, set alerts and integrate with tools like slack and Google sheets.

I had the opportunity to work with Lokker while working at WNS, and the help I got from looker in tracking and managing my subordinates' performance really did wonders for me. Its data visualisation of performance, advanced use of analytics is truly great but when it comes to customisation with several available filters and other options really made my data collection and sorting task quite easy.

**What do you dislike about Looker?**

While it's great but during the initial times I felt that making use of such customisation and advanced visualisations could be challenging for a person who is new to such things.

**What problems is Looker solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping me to track and analyse my subordinates performance and how I can use those for data visualisation purpose in order to communicate the same to upper management.
