They take pride in making reporting easy for our end users. The API is very deep, which makes performing tasks programatically extremely easy. Almost our entire implementation of Exago is done via the API. It is amazingly flexible. Exago provides an abstraction over many kinds of datasources, so you can easily link a SQL table to an XML document, for example. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** The API is very deep, but also a little obtuse. I understand Exago is working on a "Codex" to help developers/implementors more fully understand the intricacies and methodologies, which will be a tremendous help. I also wish the documentation was more complete. There have been more than a few times when I come across a setting that sounds interesting, but not enough information on how to implement it, or how this feature differentiates from a slightly different feature. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** I definitely recommend this product, especially if your client services department is as bogged down with minor "custom report" requests from customers as ours is! **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are providing our users the ability to report on a fully dynamic, fully-customizable database, with the ability to add data from outside sources. One of our main goals in this is to alleviate the pressure in our company to write "custom reports" for our users, by empowering our users to write (or edit) the reports themselves, without having to rely on anything outside a web browser. It can be as simple or as complicated as you need. The ability to use code in the dashboard provides some extra features not available in the UI. The use of data connectors and data cubes allows for easy manipulation of different data sources without requiring a complicated ETL on the backend. Ability to combine SQL data with Excel data and SharePoint data, with drag and drop functionality, opens up many possibilities for analyzing data across the organization. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** I actually haven't found anything that I dislike so far. We previously used Dundas Dashboard and were very happy with it. It allows casual users to create their own reports and has the power for the advanced reporting user. The Exago API allows a seamless integration into our product. We can control any aspect of the reporting tool from the API which is a huge win. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Need a bit more information on getting the solution to work on Azure WebApps vs. a straight virtual machine. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** Get a trial and do some basic connectivity into your DBs and try out creating some reports. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a reporting tool that our support staff could use to create custom reports for our customers. Our support staff are not developers and they find the tool very intuitive. The best part though is that one or two staff members at each of our customers normally jumps in head first to do reporting for their organization. We do some training with them and then they are off to the races creating their own reports. This self-service for staff to create their own reports has set our product apart from others. Other staff at the customer normally jut run reports and maybe change some of the report filters. There is certainly something for everyone in the tool. ### 26. We hit very few bugs during implementation, and those we did find were resolved very quickly. Enhancements were filed and some were made available during the course of our implementation. Though the tool does have a learning curve (as most BI tools do), their documentation is comprehensive, and this combined with their free training and knowledgeable support staff allowed us to entirely self-implement after a guided pilot with the Exago team. The dashboards with interactive filters, drill-down capabilities, and report export capabilities give us the power to provide at-a-glance high level results to casual or executive level users of our system and satisfy the power users who have a need to drill into details and understand the underlying data that makes up the visuals. Additionally, it's clear that Exago has built their software knowing that flexibility is key to living as an embedded tool inside of another software product. From whitelabeling to allowing styling customizations to parameterizing features and allowing custom expressions, client-side hooks, and server-side hooks, Exago gave us the flexibility to provide BI to complex network of different user types and user levels that are present in our system. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** One of the features that we wished to leverage was map reports. The existing mapping tool is fairly limited (for example, it does not support longitude and latitude and offers limited ability to show data associated to a location), however, Exago has promised that this will be addressed in the near future as we share our mapping requirements with them. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** Before electing to use Exago, we evaluated other BI tools. Most of these tended to be catered towards the user story of "As a user of software X, Y, and Z, I want to be able to pull together data from X, Y, and Z and visualize it." What we needed was what Exago provided - "As a software vendor, I want to be able to use a tool that can visualize the data provided by the different data sources in my application, and surface those visualizations to my end users." Consider your use case for BI strongly prior to making a vendor selection - Exago excels at embeddable BI. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** My company's software is multi-tenant cloud based SaaS solution that needs to provide analytics data resulting from company initiatives. We needed the ability to provide high level visualizations to executive level (or casual) users and cater to power users who need access to detailed data and need the ability to build their own reports. Thanks to Exago, we've been able to surface powerful visualizations and calculations that measure return on investment for individual and combined initiatives, slice and dice data with filtering as needed, and give our users much more insight into their actions. Logi does provide some integration, but really works better if its used as a stand alone application. It works similarly to Microsoft Reporting Services or Crystal Reports. If you are considering using this for an internal reporting tool and are comparing it to Microsoft Reporting Services and Crystal Reports then Logi does provide a number of compelling features.
