You don't have to be a javascript or coding expert to created fantastic visualizations out of the box. However, you can expand on the native functionality by javascript and C# code if you are so inclined. Very flexible and mostly intuitive to use. They actively add new features that are genuinely useful. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** When getting into the visualization creation a bit deeper, you can find occasions where the visualizations do unexpected things. There is normally a very good reason for the actions, but it can be difficult to figure out without calling or emailing support. Because the product is so robust and feature rich, there is a semi-steep, yet short, learning curve for new users. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have a vast collection of business data and have never had a visual way to represent this data that isn't excel based or static report based (i.e. SSRS). This allows us to provide these easily consumable data visualizations to our internal and external customers in a relatively short timeline. ### 2. The product is continually evolving, very robust, and I would say best of class-based upon feedback from my customers and team of BI developers who have worked previously with a wide range of BI products. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Nothing really, perhaps since covid the number of webinars has declined, which are very useful features. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our old reporting package was limited and slow, Exago is dynamic and easy to programme, the self service dashboards enable our clients to customise our standard package further so that it meets their precise needs. Most of my issues are solved within a day. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Having to deploy the entire engine for new application... needs a smaller foot print. Because we use the tool mostly for application development it would get great if you did not have to deploy the whole engine each time you deploy an application... you can circumvent this by creating projects for each department where we create multiple applications in the one deployment **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** Great product with a great team the is always looking to improve your experience **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** Less development time required to deploy an application to the customer, and provide reports that require less time and resources. We have been able to eliminate a costly digital signage system by using Logi and Java script to deploy digital signage metrics, and the departments use PowerPoint and save them as MP4 to create their content without involving the IT department. ### 6. We primarily use the report designer to provide scheduled PDF style reporting and aren't currently using any of the embedding options, but those seem more intuitive than some of the bursting functionality for email report generation. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** If you are looking for a basic analytics tool, Logi does the trick. It doesn't have nearly the bells and whistles of a platform like Tableau or Looker. Getting started is a bit unintuitive between using the designer and the server functions. Support was good to start, then waivered while they went through an acquisition, and then solid again. The transition hampered some of our development time, but it seems they are back on track now. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** Depending on your budget, you get a lot of tool for the cost. If you have specific reporting needs like geospacial or sophisticated permissions/parameterization, you may want to look up market. The tool would fit the needs for most basic reporting requirements, but has some growth areas in the distribution of reporting and stylization of reporting. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a solution to bridge the reporting needs of our legacy applications while we revamp our entire technology stack. Logi was a cost-effective solution that allowed us the functionality that we needed in a near/short term initiative. It gave us solid presentation layer to pull data from different systems and data storage types and present a unified reporting style to our clients while we worked through future architecture. The reporting tools are now being handed from our engineering team over to our business analyst team now that we have the plumbing and framework built out. This allows engineering to no longer focus on custom report requests but focus on actual product innovation. ### 7. Logi Info Self-Service Reporting Module (SSRM) is more visual and thus easier for non-tech staff to use. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Besides the self-service module, the rest of Logi is neither intuitive nor graphical with a heavy basis on using XML files to specify report formats and functionality. The Logi Info editor requires you to really know what you want to do in Logi already and how you would lay it out. It's not intuitive, not user-friendly, and not welcoming to exploration. It is not a product you use to explore data but to simply add visualisations into web apps - but why wouldn't you use a more conventional / superior web app environment anyway, such as (e.g.) Visual Studio / ASP.NET ? Many things you want to achieve in Logi Info require you to rely on JavaScript or CSS. Support is only available in specific northern hemisphere timezones. Only one person is allowed access to the licensing section of DevNet. Not all products are loaded into the licensing portal. The self-service module itself is an app sitting on top of Logi Info and while it is a better option for non-technical folk, it's still slow, sub-performant and doesn't offer meta-data facilities out-of-the-box for ODBC-based data sources. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** Be sure to consider what you are trying to achieve, and whether you want the tool to be used by BI experts or software developers. If BI experts, Logi Info is not the right tool. If software developers, it may not be the right tool, either. This said, Logi does offer other products - Logi Composer (formerly ZoomData) and Logi Report (formerly JReport) - both of which came from acquisitions. These are much closer to what you expect of a BI product, but it is unclear what Logi's roadmap is because Logi Composer, for example, is not supported on any version of Ubuntu post 2018. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Logi Analytics for embedded reporting within custom software. However, there are so many better options. ### 10. Need knowledge of Java script to run this software properly. The interface is comparitively more friendly to other BI softwares. The drag and design tools, various data customisable visualisations, themes helps you create interactive and amazing dashboards. You can export almost evrything to excel, pdf, jpg and powerpoint. It has an IDE which makes it easier to develop dashboards and reports in web applications developments. I like how they listen to their users' feedback and work on it to make it obsolete, even for users who haven't paid for the software. ### 12. By adding Logi Composer, we’re giving our end users an intuitive way to create reports and view all of their survey data, especially for key performance indicators (KPIs) and net promoter scores (NPS). Further, Elastic Search and its ELK stack have been technically transformational to our capabilities. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** While Logi is advanced, its composer lacks some advanced functionality like alerting, cross-filtering, and third-party compatibility. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our existing reporting was not sufficient for our clients' needs. The support and assistance are excellent; new features are available and often easy to implement, just what we need. New releases seem to come out regularly to assist our clients and us. We want to use more features available and need more time to appreciate all that the tool can offer. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** We sometimes have time keeping up with the upgrades. We can't take advantage of all the new features being an embedded product. However the Exago team are always helpful when it is time to do an upgrade. No other tool offers access to so many different data sources. Building full blown applications based on Logi Info is its greates strength. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Really not a lot. I work with Logi since 2012 and over the years it became more and more powerful. There is nothing on top of my head what I dislike. For me it is the perfect tool. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** If you are looking for a powerful and comprehensive BI tool, Logi Analytics is the way to go. Yes, you need to have good SQL/Oracle skills, but the power in showing the output of your SQL scripts is top of the nodge. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have written a complete CRM custom built for the 4x4 Response in the UK. This tool is helping the group with managing the volunteers, tasking of rescue missions, planning of staff and events etc. Exporting data to the internal accounting application, report generation for the customers and pulling data from severaal external sources to run the complex organisation. Some of my favorite items are: - Native support for multitenancy via a wide variety of patterns. - Flexible user, roles, and permissions management, both via UI and API. - Excellent exporting capabilities into Excel (better than all the platforms we have tested). - User interface is comfortable and modern, and while not sporting super sexy visualizations, they are always improving. - Easily embeddable as an iframe or a direct page, with a lot of flexibility on styling and theming. - Great scheduling capabilities, by far surpassing the SSRS user experience. - Convenient and straightforward pricing methodology, with a predictive cost that does not depend upon variables such as users, customers, servers, etc. - Multiple releases throughout the year, so bugs usually don't stay in the system too long after being discovered. - Great webinars and "advanced users" labs every few weeks, covering non-trivial use cases. - Exago does not impose its storage or persistence mechanisms upon the hosting platform. The implementer gets to decide how everything is stored, if you'd like to scale or change beyond the "stock" options. This is both an advantage and a hindrance, depending on far you'd like to take the system. - And last but certainly not least, there is a phenomenal and passionate team standing behind the product. I really cannot stress how important this is for this kind of product. You will be amazed at how quickly they can adapt their "language" to your line of business and usually help you within a couple of hours do things that might take you a lot longer. The post-sale experience is as good as the pre-sale and the handoff throughout the sale process is very smooth. It is exceptionally uncommon in this industry and I hope that others take notice. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** - Do not be fooled by the simplicity of what you see. It is not going to be a walk in the park, especially if your SaaS has many hundreds of different tables, types of users, and lots of conflicting use-cases. You absolutely need to have a strong, business oriented and a fairly technical person (or team) that will spearhead this implementation. Exago's tremendous flexibility is also a source of its complexities. You need to get into the weeds in order to determine what is best for your environment, and it is often not trivial. Be prepared for some learning curve, but if you dedicate an honest effort, you will see that it is very doable to have excellent results in relatively short time. - Although the documentation is very good, you need to have a clear plan on how to "map" your environment to the Exago landscape and have a clear set of links in the documentation with which you need to become intimately familiar. We were largely unsuccessful in our deployment until we did just that. However, once we invested a little bit of brainpower into this process, we had started gaining tremendous momentum and now the project is a major success. - The cross tabs (pivot) reports are lacking some computational features, but there are always improvements in this area and they are always welcome. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our basic issue was: how do we reconcile the fact that we have hundreds of legacy operational reports that our users rely on on a daily basis (many of them delivered via email on a scheduled basis), with the desire of these same users to modernize the BI experience and have flashy dashboards and ability to interact with their data in a self-service model. Out of the many solutions we have tested, Exago checked the most amount of boxes and was the ideal balance between features, functionality, and user experience. So it proves anybody who wants a self-service reporting tool with all relevant features of a BI tool can opt for Exago without asking any question. The openness supported by Exago to integrate and customize the default behaviour as per your needs made it more acceptable to us. End user (end user interface): The widgets offer a great deal of customisation (even after designing the widgets ) to tailor a specific information view to the needs of our customers. Integration (technical): The functionality offered can be easily plugged in any third party application. A wide range of tools in the Exago BI toolbox will be offered as an out of the box solution in which the DataObject structure abstraction is key to communicate to the backend **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** Relation between dataobjects and the configuration file. In out business case we make use of a dynamic database schema so on-forehand it is not possible to create the dataobject and store them (statically) in a configuration file. The trade off is that the Dataobjects need to be created on the fly which makes integration performance heavy. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1 Business Intelligence :-) . What do your end users want to see in their reports? Exago's clear strength is the "Advanced Report", which enables users to create detailed tables and reports on sophisticated data sets. They've also recently given their dashboards and visualizations a big overhaul, and so far those seem greatly improved. Will you need to make updates to your configuration after implementation? Their support team is highly competent and I've always had positive experiences with them. I have also served as an administrator for nearly all of that time. In both of these capacities, I have developed everything from simple, web-based reports through dashboarding and Analytics, to building mission-critical, enterprise-level applications, as well as configuring and maintaining user-driven data exploration environments. LogiAnalytics solutions have been a pleasure to work with. Whenever I have gotten stuck, I have found that the documentation - both within the IDE and on-line - is incredibly helpful and intuitive, as have the support staff. Interestingly, when presented with a new requirement - as happened just a couple of months ago - I inevitably stumble across an element that fits the bill nicely, and that was there all along. **What do you dislike about Logi Symphony?** This is a tough question. It would be nit-picking, but passing parameters from one report to another, or from one process to another, can sometimes be troubling. That said, I have never had an instance where I was not able to get the information that I needed relatively easily. My only overarching concern is that when using software that is so intuitive and that allows for such rapid deployment of pretty much anything that an organization may need, I have had to become very cognizant of users wanting features simply because they can be achieved and not necessarily because they should be achieved. Other than that, I can think of no issues. **Recommendations to others considering Logi Symphony:** As with any software consideration, do your due diligence in order to ensure that this software is the right fit for your organization. This software has the capacity to rapidly chance an organization from a technological perspective - just make sure that the people are behind the change, at an agreed-upon pace. **What problems is Logi Symphony solving and how is that benefiting you?** Throughout my time with three different organizations, I have been able to make use of LogiAnalytics software tools in order to do away with manual tasks, streamline existing processes, and provide insights into the organization that had been unknown up to that time. Even full scale applications are easy to develop and deploy, with the inevitable requirements creep able to be quickly accounted for ### 50.
