This is a video editing software that have several features regarding PRO and SEMI-PRO video editing. Many options are familiar only to people with experience. Color corection is fantastiv (with S-CURVE You can do fantastic efects but You need a fast PC) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When importing, video analyzing is VERY fastidious and slow. Learning curve is very problematic. Some standard multimedia options and features are missing. Powerfull PC is needed for almost everything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has a ton of advanced features not normally found in free software packages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is can be confusing and lacks a flow. It will take some getting use to and learning how to best move through your projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The features offered at the price (especially free) are good, and the heritage of being a filmmaking tool is fun. The commitment to a powerful trimming experience is respectable. This is a tool designed for nothing but narrative editing—its commitment to focus is commendable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Stability has been a problem for me on every version of Lightworks I've used on both Windows and Mac OS X. I just cannot get through a project. Additionally, an overall problem with this program is how little it's fundamentally changed over the years—it's designed to feel like film editing, and it's limited to many of the things film editors could do. This is not a powerhouse for complex edits—it's a tool for cutting narrative scenes in. It's lack of interoperability with other tools, and it's failure to keep up with expected features are its downfall. Its impassioned followers like to say "Don't drive Lightworks like ____; drive it like Lightworks" as the umbrella excuse for it's lack of innovation. I have to say, I disagree with this notion. The way Lightworks "drives" is poorly. I had high hopes for this product, and remain disappointed every time I try it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One aspect of Lightworks I like a lot, and the reason I recommend it frequently, is the free version, which is enough for almost all beginning editors despite the limitations. The dynamic workspace also works really well and I like the flexibility in organizing windows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface can be a bit confusing at first as it doesn't operate like most NLE interfaces, but once you get used to it it's not too bad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the idea of Lightworks. One of my heroes, Thelma Schoonmaker has been using it for the past thirty years. Her work is evidence enough of its promise. I've evaluated the software and, at the time I reviewed it (late 2014), I felt it a lot of nice things in one package, but not quite developed enough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't really get a sense of where my data is being stored. It's not intuitive what is happening to it and that makes me wary. If you have an assistant editor who knows it well, it's a non-issue. If you're on your own, though, it may take you some time to get up to speed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lightworks deserve to mention in whole family of editing software. Few years before you have to pay for it, now you can download free fully working version. This is big big advantage of Lightworks. Lightworks was used in many Hollywood films. Maybe interface doesn't tell you that because it looks a little bit funny. And Lightworks works also different than other editing programs. Is is better or worse? I don't want to judge but Lightworks is attracvite alternative for other expensive programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For me disadvantage in Lightwork is different and weird interface. I want to accent that - for me. Many people like this interface so maybe it is not so bad. But you need to learn new way of thinking when you are using Lightworks. In a free version also you had fewer export options and file format support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
