## Liferay Digital Experience Platform Reviews
  ### 1. Complete platform for corporate digital experiences

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** walisson p. | Analista de Comunicação, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

In this way, the Liferay Digital Platform proves to be strategic for Banco do Nordeste by offering a solid, flexible, and secure technological base, capable of supporting the continuous evolution of institutional digital channels, reconciling governance, systemic integration, and focus on user experience.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

As a main limitation, Liferay Digital is not natively oriented towards digital marketing and commercial campaigns, requiring additional integrations for these purposes. Furthermore, it is a robust and complex platform, with a steep learning curve and dependence on a specialized technical team, factors that can increase the effort of implementation and maintenance. Nevertheless, these characteristics stem from its architecture focused on systemic integration, governance, and security.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay Digital helps solve problems of digital channel fragmentation, integration with corporate systems, self-service limitations, governance in regulated environments, and scalability of digital solutions. It allows centralizing portals and intranet, integrating services, offering personalized experiences by profile, and evolving digital channels in a secure and structured way.

  ### 2. Liferay DXP: Modern digital experiences with flexible deployment and artificial intelligence.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gorka S. | ALLIANCES MANAGER, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I value most about Liferay DXP is the flexibility it offers to build complex portals and digital experiences without feeling limited by the platform. Its customization capability, along with a modular architecture and the possibility of integrating with other systems, makes it a very powerful solution for enterprise projects.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The learning curve can be somewhat steep at first, especially for teams without prior experience with enterprise platforms like Liferay DXP. Additionally, some advanced configurations and certain customizations require a considerable level of technical knowledge.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay DXP allows us to centralize the management of content, users, and digital experiences on a single platform. Additionally, it facilitates integration with corporate systems and the creation of personalized portals for different types of users.

Thanks to this, we have managed to reduce development times, improve the digital experience for both customers and employees, and have a much more flexible and scalable platform for future projects.

  ### 3. Enterprise-Grade Power with a Modern, Easy-to-Use Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff V. | Director Of Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What stands out most about Liferay Digital Experience Platform is its ability to combine enterprise-grade capability with genuine ease of use. Unlike many legacy DXP platforms, Liferay offers a modern, intuitive interface for both administrators and content authors, which significantly reduces onboarding time and improves adoption across teams.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

I think all platforms have this problem now, while I believe LIferay is taking the lead around AI for similar platforms, I wish they would move faster. With that said, their AI is really good, I just want more!

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay Digital Experience Platform is solving one of the biggest challenges our customers face today: modernizing outdated digital platforms without creating massive disruption to the business.

Many enterprises are operating on legacy systems like HCL Digital Experience that are expensive to maintain, difficult to update, and frustrating for both administrators and end users. Liferay helps solve this by providing a modern, flexible platform that simplifies migration, improves content management, and creates a far better digital experience for customers and employees alike.

  ### 4. Rapid Prototyping and Powerful Integrations with Liferay’s OOTB Tools and Headless APIs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris R. | Principle Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Liferay offers a complete set of tools that allow our development team to create prototypes quickly that have full features working in the backend. For example the UI allows for quick page creation, but for many demonstrations we are able to tie directly into systems the customers are using for content, using just the OOTB tools, allow the customers to not just see generic page creations, but their content being displayed and manipulated inside the Liferay tool.
The next piece is their expanding tool sets that are allowing interactions with other systems. We have used the headless API to create multiple mobile applications that are able to provide the same services as the web app very quickly delivering the same look and feel to the web customers. The latest integrations we have been working with has been the MCP server that allows Liferay to interact with AI agents. We have started to use this to increase development efficiency allowing AI to create frameworks, objects, pages, and Groovy scripts that run within the Liferay system.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The helpdesk support can be hit or miss. We often work in a proprietary system so the software cannot be shared. When we run into issues the helpdesk often asks us to recreate the issue in a vanilla Liferay instance which can be burdensome, and often shows the same issue we had been showing in our custom system.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The largest issue that Liferay is solving for us and our customers are quick development and security using role based access. We tie the user authentication into various other systems, which Liferay allows and the role-based access allows use to give the customers the experiences per level that they are looking for.
Most recently has also been the use or the headless API's to quickly create mobile applications, while maintaining a single place of editing and maintaining content.

  ### 5. Liferay DXP: open and modular platform with enterprise power and headless integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfredo G. | Entrepreneur, CEO, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I like most about Liferay DXP is that it is an open, modular, and mature platform at the same time. It has a lot of ready-to-use functionality (CMS, DAM, workflow, forms, page builder, commerce, single sign-on), but at the same time, it allows you to extend or replace any piece without clashing with the core. The headless strategy with REST and GraphQL APIs makes it very natural to integrate it with existing backends, mobile apps, or frontends in React/Angular. As a partner, we have been implementing it for years in very different sectors: financial, government, retail, logistics, and we always find a way to solve the use case without having to change the product. That combination of enterprise capabilities, partner ecosystem, and training is, for me, the real difference compared to other DXP in the market.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The size of the third-party extensions marketplace, compared to massive ecosystems, is smaller. In my experience, this is compensated by the ease of building your own functionality on the framework, but it is a point where Liferay still has room to grow.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our clients, Liferay DXP primarily solves three underlying problems. The first is the fragmentation of digital channels: public portals, intranets, client portals, partner or distributor portals, and mobile apps, which historically exist in separate stacks, with high maintenance costs and inconsistent experiences. Liferay allows them to be consolidated into a single platform with common governance, reducing the TCO and unifying the brand experience. The second is the slowness in bringing new digital experiences to market; with page builder, fragments, and headless APIs, marketing and business areas can launch landing pages, microsites, and campaigns without relying on each development cycle. The third is integration with the existing technological ecosystem: by acting as an experience layer over CRM, core banking, ERP, or legacy systems, Liferay unlocks that data to the end customer securely and with a single identity model. The direct benefit for us, as a Top Solution Partner, is that we can tackle very different projects (financial, government, retail, logistics) with the same product and a certified team, maintaining healthy margins and delivering predictable projects.

  ### 6. The most flexible enterprise DXP we've worked with

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Péter K. | Co-Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I appreciate most about Liferay DXP is how it combines a robust enterprise portal foundation with modern digital experience capabilities in a single, unified platform. The modular architecture based on OSGi makes it remarkably flexible, we can extend or customize almost any component without touching the core. The drag-and-drop page authoring with Fragments and Content Pages lets our marketing team build and update landing pages independently, which has cut our time-to-publish from days to hours. The built-in headless APIs (REST and GraphQL) made it straightforward to feed content into our mobile app and a separate React frontend without duplicating effort. We also rely heavily on the Workflow engine and the granular role/permission model for our multi-site, multi-tenant setup. Finally, the fact that it's open-source-rooted gives us long-term confidence - no vendor lock-in, and the community plus official documentation are genuinely helpful. AI also is a strong foundation in the portal.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The biggest challenge with Liferay DXP is the learning curve. The platform is enormously capable, but new developers on the team typically need several weeks to become productive - especially around OSGi modules, Service Builder, and the Liferay-specific build tooling. Better first-day onboarding materials and more end-to-end "starter project" tutorials in the official documentation would shorten that ramp-up considerably.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a Liferay implementation partner, we use Liferay DXP to solve a recurring set of problems for our enterprise clients: fragmented digital landscapes, slow time-to-market for new digital experiences, and high integration cost across CRM, ERP, and identity systems.
Typical client situation before Liferay: several disconnected systems, a legacy CMS for the public website, a custom intranet, and a separate partner or customer portal - each with its own content model, user management, and integrations. Branding drifts across channels, content is duplicated, and every new initiative means another silo to maintain.
With Liferay DXP, our teams consolidate these into a single platform. The unified content repository, multi-site architecture, and built-in SSO give clients one source of truth for content, users, and permissions. The headless REST and GraphQL APIs let the same content power websites, mobile apps, and custom frontends (React, Angular, Vue) without duplication. Service Builder, OSGi modules, and the standard connectors let us deliver custom integrations far faster than building from scratch.
Measurable benefits we consistently see across projects:

Time-to-publish for new landing pages and microsites typically drops from several weeks to a few days, because client marketing teams can compose pages with Fragments and Content Pages without developer involvement.
Integration effort for backend systems is reduced by roughly 40–50% compared to greenfield custom development.
Clients usually retire 2–4 legacy systems after migrating to Liferay, cutting licensing and maintenance costs.
Personalization and segmentation drive double-digit improvements in engagement and conversion on targeted journeys.
Long-term TCO is favorable because the open-source foundation prevents vendor lock-in, and our clients can extend the platform themselves once we hand it over.

  ### 7. Central platform for scalable portal solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raphael C. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What we like best about the Liferay Digital Experience Platform is that it is far more than a traditional CMS or portal. For us, Liferay is a true platform for digital solutions.

We use Liferay to implement customer, partner, supplier, and employee portals on a common basis. This allows us to create consistent and modern user experiences that can be flexibly adapted to different target groups and use cases. The UI and UX possibilities are very versatile, allowing for both classic and highly individualized frontends.

A major advantage is the strong integration capability. In most projects, Liferay serves as the central interaction layer over existing systems such as ERP, CRM, or specialized applications. Especially in mature IT landscapes, this is a decisive success factor, as existing systems can continue to be used and meaningfully integrated.

We have also had very good experiences in terms of performance and scalability. Liferay is suitable for both smaller entry-level scenarios and large, business-critical platforms with many users and complex requirements.

We also greatly appreciate the clear architectural approach. By separating standard and individual extensions, we can build solutions that remain maintainable and upgradeable in the long term. This directly impacts the ROI, as further developments and operations remain sustainably plannable.

In the area of support and onboarding, we benefit from an active community as well as professional manufacturer support. With the appropriate experience, projects can be set up in a structured manner and implemented efficiently.

The development in the area of AI and automation is also exciting. Liferay increasingly offers opportunities to support and further expand personalized content, intelligent search functions, or automated processes.

Overall, Liferay enables us to realize scalable and future-proof digital platforms that go far beyond traditional web solutions and offer real added value to our customers.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

As with such a comprehensive platform, Liferay also brings a certain complexity with it. Especially for smaller or less complex use cases, the initial setup and architecture can seem relatively demanding.

The familiarization for new developers or departments also requires time. To fully exploit the potential of the platform, a solid understanding of the architecture, concepts, and best practices is necessary.

In terms of UI and UX, many possibilities are available, but the implementation of very individual or cutting-edge frontends often requires additional development, as not everything is fully covered out of the box.

Liferay's strength is very evident in integrations, but this also means that integration projects must be planned and executed cleanly. In complex system landscapes, this can initially lead to higher effort.

However, from our perspective, these points are manageable. With the right experience, clear architectural principles, and a structured approach, the advantages of Liferay can be utilized very specifically and the mentioned challenges can be well addressed.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Liferay, many of our customers faced the challenge that different stakeholders such as customers, partners, suppliers, or employees were served through separate systems and channels. This led to media disruptions, inconsistent user experience, and high coordination and operational effort.

We often had the situation where information had to be maintained in multiple systems and digital processes could not be fully implemented.

With Liferay, we were able to consolidate these fragmented landscapes onto a central platform. Today, we are able to map various portals and use cases on a common basis while seamlessly integrating existing systems such as ERP, CRM, or specialized applications.

This has specifically led to processes becoming significantly more efficient. Our customers benefit from seamless self-service offerings, reduced manual efforts, and a clearly improved user experience across all touchpoints.

In many projects, we were able to noticeably reduce administrative effort and shorten the time-to-market for new functions, as new features can be directly integrated into the existing platform instead of building separate solutions.

Another important effect is better scalability. Solutions can be gradually expanded without having to repeatedly make fundamental architectural decisions.

In summary: We previously had highly fragmented system and process landscapes. With Liferay, we create integrated, scalable platforms that increase efficiency, reduce operational costs, and at the same time lay the foundation for new digital services.

  ### 8. Amazing Low-Code Platform with Powerful Out-of-the-Box Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rimpy M. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Low-code platform with amazing out-of-the-box features such as commerce, objects, and headless APIs. Even a non-technical person can build pages using simple drag-and-drop and standard configurations, with nothing to code.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Important issue is search. If we have lakhs of entries in the objects, searching can take too much time, and sometimes the search doesn’t work properly either.
Another important Whenever we use custom development with client extensions in Node.js and React.js, the server sometimes can’t handle that much load and goes down.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Make best use of our of the box features of liferay such as objects, headless APIs etc. No code just go and create object addd picklist relationship actions everything via UI no need to do anything by code.
Data retrieval is the best just go to the o/api search for the best method you want to use and use it in your code.
No DB queries Nothing we have to do

  ### 9. High Performance CMS with Streamlining Web Content and Portal Management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Upal S. | Senior Liferay Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Performance is higher with inline Content management. headless API is useful to integrate data with cross platform. integration of workflow to manage publishing. features for managing data and actions through objects. Also supports user segmentation. With web content, AI integration help to generate content quickly. The faster page load improves overall web traffic of portal. All menu options are easy to access.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

There are some complex requirements where the out-of-the-box (OOB) components aren’t sufficient to handle them, specifically Objects when multi tables are dependent with each other.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay DXP helps to built many type of platforms. for eg community site, customer survey portal. Earlier, one of our client was using multiple sites for same type of sub site. Liferay helped with site template, that leverage user to create new site with same designs in just few hours. It has improved productivity and helped with reducing costing also for support and new onboarding of site.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Liferay Keeps adding new features, some time it is difficult for new developers to stay up to date.
Liferay should provide more headless APIs to manage day to day work.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides best performance, It provides low code and no code capabilities to boost the development. Well tested features reduce the testing cycles.
We can use existing frontend code written with any language. we just need to convert them in client extension. We can define schema very fast using object and liferay provides API for that.
We are using Liferay to to handle big onboarding process where Liferay object and workflow helps us a lot. Also we are integrating ERPs and other systems with Liferay.

  ### 11. Liferay DXP: Powerful, Secure, and Highly Customizable All-in-One Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diksha R. | Senior Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

There are a lot of things I like about Liferay

1. User Management System: It is easier to manage user just by using control panel. In addition, admins can impersonate a user to test the look and feel from the user’s perspective.
2. Security:It’s an all-in-one solution with a very good user management system. It also offers a solid level of security, and the DXP version is GDPR compliant, which makes it a strong choice for user security.
3. Personalization: User can easily change look and feel according to their choice.
4. Low Code/ No Code: Non-technical users can also make significant changes. The developers can focus on what to build not how to build.
5. Integration: It is easy to integrate with external systems. DXP version gives integrations within itself for some softwares.
6. Customization: Easy to add new functionalities using OSGI.
7. Objects: Easier to manage data tables and columns.

10. Pricing: It comes in paid and free tier versions.
11. Support: The DXP version has full enterprise support while free tier has good community support.
12. AI: It is easy to integrate with AI and easy to add chat bot.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Honestly speaking, the only problem is that for the first time user, it is overwhelming to see all the features in one place.
Another problem is that sometimes users don't know how to take full use of latest features and Liferay capability.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s an all-in-one solution: whether it’s onboarding, CMS, or commerce, it can handle it all. It can support multiple instances and manage multiple sites. With a single system, you can manage anything and everything in one place.

  ### 12. An impressive journey from the 5.2 era to the modern DXP stack

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hector P. | Development Team Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What is most helpful about Liferay DXP?
The most helpful aspect of Liferay DXP is its unparalleled flexibility as a "Swiss Army Knife" for digital experiences. Unlike rigid CMS platforms, Liferay allows us to bridge the gap between a public-facing website, a secure student portal, and a collaborative faculty intranet—all within a single environment.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Continuing from our perspective as a user at University Pompeu Fabra, it’s important to be candid about the hurdles. While the platform is powerful, there are specific "pain points" that can frustrate even the most seasoned IT teams—particularly regarding the update cycle and the PaaS (Platform as a Service) environment. The "Heavyweight" , Learning Curve and LTS vs. Quarterly Release Confusion

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our experience at University Pompeu Fabra, Liferay DXP isn't just a "website builder", the platform addresses specific university business problems and the core capabilities that make it possible. Solving Information Fragmentation (The Unified Platform), Ensuring Brand and Governance Consistency, Bridging the Gap Between IT and Marketing (Standards)

  ### 13. Liferay DXP: The 'Reset' for Our Legacy Portals

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mattheus P. | System Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

I have been working with Liferay for about a year and a half, coming from a development background and now acting as a coordinator. To be honest, what really 'got us' and justifies the use of the platform in our daily routine are two main things: the portlet architecture and, mainly, the access control system.

As a developer, the idea of portlets is a lifesaver. We can modularize our applications very well. Instead of building a monolith, we create independent and reusable components, which greatly facilitates maintenance and task distribution within the team. Everyone can work in their own 'little box' without major headaches.

Now, as a coordinator, what really gives me peace of mind is the permissions system. The granularity of Liferay's access control is what we use the most. Defining roles, teams, and specifying exactly who sees which portlet, on which page, is fundamental to our business. This gives us the assurance that a certain group of users will only access what is allowed to them, and we can configure all of this natively, without needing to develop complex permission logics manually. It is robust and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

He is powerful for what he sets out to do, especially in the back-end and security aspects, but all this robustness comes at a cost in complexity, performance, and a certain slowness in the development cycle.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being very direct, the main problem that Liferay is solving for us is the technical debt of very legacy portals we had here. We were stuck with old technologies, with an architecture that no one wanted to maintain anymore. Any small change was a hassle, and the experience for the end user was quite poor.
The great benefit that Liferay brought was giving us a 'reset'. It put us in a new development cycle. Instead of patching a system that was already at the end of its life, we started building on a more modern and structured platform.

And the turning point for us was, without a doubt, the ability to use React for customizations. We got rid of that feeling of a 'rigid frontend' that I had already mentioned. Now, we can create modern and dynamic components for the user, with the agility that React gives us, but without giving up the security and back-end structure that Liferay offers, especially in access control, which is our pillar here.

So, in practice, the benefit is this: we are managing to modernize the user experience at the front end with React, while, behind the scenes, we have a solid and secure base for content and permissions management. Liferay is serving as the backbone that allows us to plug in these newer technologies, something that was unthinkable in our old portals.

  ### 14. Easy and scalable content management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wendy Stephany J. | Project Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Content management within the platform is intuitive and simple, for example, the use of snippets to load information or even keep data hidden. The workflow functionalities, module organization, dynamic templates, among others, make the work easier and allow functional needs to be addressed very quickly. The creation and configuration of portlets is also very fast.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The configuration of the responsive design should be more automated. Nowadays, we have to design images in desktop size and in responsive size, which takes more time. The subscription costs are very high, and although organizations like ours have the financial muscle to acquire the subscription, the payment for this concept is widely questioned, especially when it is understood that other types of cloud technologies provide optimal web portal services, whose upgrades are faster and at lower costs.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our institutional web portal is hosted on Liferay. The platform has allowed us to improve the performance of our portal in terms of efficiency and scalability; the implementations of forms, content, fragments, among others, are very fast. Additionally, it has enabled us to have better performance in terms of information security.

  ### 15. Exceptional Flexibility Faster DeliveThe Perfect Balance Between IT Control and Business Autonomyry

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oscar R. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The best part of Liferay DXP is its exceptional flexibility for managing complex multi-site ecosystems. Its master templates and modular architecture allow us to push global updates instantly while maintaining autonomy for each business unit.

It has drastically improved our delivery agility: the combination of low-code tools and an API-first approach enables us to launch new web assets and services in record time. It is the perfect solution for balancing robust IT governance with the speed that the business demands.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

The platform is so vast that the initial learning curve can be steep for new developers. Because it offers such extensive enterprise features, mastering its full potential takes time. This is why working with an experienced partner is crucial to ensure a smooth implementation and to truly maximize the platform's capabilities from day one.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay solves digital fragmentation by centralizing multiple disparate sites into a single governed infrastructure. This eliminates silos and ensures brand consistency.

The main benefit is operational efficiency: IT maintains a secure core while Business units gain autonomy to manage content. This has significantly reduced our time-to-market for new services and simplified technical maintenance across the organization.

On top of that, its growing AI and intelligence features strengthen personalization and support more data-driven decision-making.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

One area where Liferay Digital Experience Platform could improve is the occasional presence of bugs, particularly when using newer features or after updates, which can affect stability in certain use cases. The headless APIs are powerful, but they still have limitations around flexibility and consistency across endpoints, which can make more complex integrations harder than expected. In addition, I’ve run into issues with the batch APIs, including bugs and inconsistent behavior during bulk operations, and that can reduce both efficiency and reliability. Addressing these points would go a long way toward improving the overall developer experience.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Encarni A. | Information Technology Department Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

From my experience, what I value most about Liferay DXP Cloud is the peace of mind it offers at the enterprise level: it operates very stably in cloud environments (with Kubernetes and autoscaling), has good performance, and greatly simplifies deployment management. The interface is quite usable, although with a certain initial learning curve, and it stands out for its integration capability with other tools. But if there is something that really makes a difference, it is the support: I have seen that they respond well and provide real value in complex projects, which generates a lot of trust. Additionally, in terms of security, it is a very strong point, as the platform is ENS certified at a high category, which ensures it meets the most demanding standards for critical environments, and the evolution towards AI capabilities and personalization positions it as a very complete solution prepared for the future.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I like the least is that the documentation can be complex and is not always easy to find. This makes it more difficult to resolve doubts quickly and ends up prolonging learning and development times.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our corporate website is deployed on Liferay DXP Cloud in PaaS mode, and the main value it provides us is scalability: it automatically adapts to demand peaks without us having to manage the infrastructure. I would also highlight the stability of the service and the interface itself, which facilitates the management of the environment and day-to-day operations.

Additionally, the platform helps us comply with the security, accessibility, and regulatory requirements demanded by our organization, aligned with standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017, ISO/IEC 27018, SOC 2 Type 2, CSA STAR, and the National Security Scheme (ENS). Altogether, this gives us a reliable foundation consistent with corporate standards.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yolanda L. | Web Portal Project Manager., Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

i appreciate its strong integration capabilities. Liferay makes it easy to connect with different systems through REST services and APIs, which is especially useful in complex enterprise environments.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I like least about Liferay Digital Experience Platform is the lack of simplicity when it comes to migrating pages and web content between environments. The process is not as straightforward as it should be and often requires additional effort, which can slow down deployments.
Another important drawback is the inability to easily propagate permissions across folders, documents, pages, and web content. Managing permissions can become complex and time-consuming, especially in large environments, due to the lack of more efficient and centralized mechanisms.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

has solved many integration challenges with modern technologies. It provides strong support for APIs and REST services, making it easier to connect with current systems and architectures.

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I like most about Liferay DXP is how flexible it is without becoming a mess. You can go from a simple site to a pretty complex digital platform using the same foundation, and it still holds up. The modular architecture, the way it handles customization, and how it balances out-of-the-box features with real extensibility

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

One downside I’d point out is that Liferay can feel a bit complex in certain scenarios, especially for teams that are just getting started with it.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay DXP addresses the challenge of fragmented digital experiences scattered across multiple systems. It brings content, users, and integrations together in a single platform, making everything easier to manage and evolve over time.

For me, the biggest benefit is having a strong foundation to build on so I can deliver more consistent solutions, integrate with enterprise systems more smoothly, and avoid reinventing the wheel for essentials like authentication, content management, and the overall user experience.

I really like the practicality and versatility that the platform provides; everything is very simple and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

We use SAAS, so we don't have direct access to the server or advanced logs; this issue with the logs is only directed to one person.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Liferay Digital Experience Platform solves the problem of centralizing and managing digital content, allowing the creation and administration of multiple sites, pages, and experiences in a single environment. **What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

I really like the part about integrations with OSGi modules and the creation of themes in the Liferay Digital Experience Platform. This makes the product extremely flexible and robust. Customization through modules allows delivering effective value to the client, whether by customizing a visual interface or integrating with a service bus using REST API, for example. Moreover, the initial configuration is extremely easy, especially using the images and containers currently available, which greatly facilitates a new installation, regardless of the platform.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Currently, it is an excellent product, I have nothing to complain about.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the Liferay Digital Experience Platform for its architectural flexibility. It solves most user and architectural problems, making it easy to start simple and evolve into complex solutions with integrations and automations.

  ### 22. Enterprise-Ready DXP for Complex Portals and Long-Term Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Liferay DXP’s enterprise flexibility lets us build secure, tailored websites, portals, and intranets. For clients like OG+E, that adaptability helped us integrate smoothly with existing systems, support complex content needs, and create a platform that’s built to last.

What we love most is how Liferay streamlines operations by consolidating key capabilities - like content management, workflow, search, permissions, and personalization - that would typically require multiple tools. Bringing these functions together gives clients a better digital experience, while giving their teams a stronger foundation for governance, scalability, and ongoing improvement.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Liferay DXP delivers the most value when it is aligned to well-defined business requirements and supported by thoughtful planning, governance, and technical ownership. As a best practice, organizations should approach it as an enterprise platform best suited for more complex digital experiences, integrations, and long-term scalability rather than as a lightweight CMS for very simple use cases.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay DXP brings content management, user access, workflow, search, and integrations together in a single platform, helping solve fragmented digital experiences. For us and our clients, this makes it possible to replace disconnected systems with unified websites, portals, and intranets, and to deliver solutions that are scalable and easy to enhance over time. It’s especially valuable in scenarios that require secure, role-based experiences and smooth integration with existing business systems. Overall, it improves the user experience, reduces platform sprawl, and gives our clients a stronger foundation for digital services.

  ### 23. Liferay 7.4: Low-Code Freedom and Upgrade-Friendly Client Extensions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Liferay 7.4 has completely changed how we balance “quick wins” with “complex builds.” On one side, the low-code empowerment through Liferay Objects has been genuinely liberating. I can now create custom data models and connect them to workflows and forms without a single deployment or needing a backend developer. It’s turned what used to be an IT backlog into something much closer to a self-service reality.

On the other side, when we do need to write code, Client Extensions have addressed the “upgrade dread” we used to feel with OSGi modules. Since they run out of process and communicate through APIs, our developers can work in React or Vue without having to be Liferay Java experts. That kind of decoupled architecture is exactly what a modern enterprise needs.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

While the platform is extremely powerful, the initial learning curve can be steep. Moving from traditional portlet development to the newer Client Extension model takes a real shift in mindset, and that adjustment can slow a team down during the first few sprints of adoption.

With the fast pace of the Quarterly Release cycle, I sometimes notice that the official documentation trails the newest features by a bit. As a result, it can take some trial and error—or even a support ticket—to fully grasp the nuances of a brand-new 7.4 capability.

The administrative interface is also very feature-rich, which I appreciate, but it can feel a little UI-heavy. Having to click through deeply nested menus to locate specific configuration options for Objects or System Settings can be tedious until you’ve memorized where everything lives.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay has helped us solve a long-term maintenance headache. By using Client Extensions, we’ve been able to decouple our custom React code from the Liferay core. As a result, we can stay on the Quarterly Release cycle and pick up new features every three months without constantly worrying that our customizations will break during updates.

  ### 24. Highly Configurable with Powerful Headless Capabilities

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

What I like best about Liferay is how flexible it is also it doesn’t force me into a single way of building things.
ex:
- Headless APIs (GraphQL / REST): I rely on this a lot. It lets me fully control the frontend and work with modern design systems instead of being tied to Liferay’s UI.
- Structured content & dynamic pages: Once it’s set up properly, I don’t need to hardcode pages anymore. Content becomes reusable, and business users can manage it without coming back to dev.
- Built-in enterprise features: Things like roles, permissions, workflows, and staging are already there, which saves a lot of time and avoids reinventing the wheel.
Integration-friendly: It fits nicely in complex environments (SSO, APIs, backend systems) so I can use it as a central layer instead of building everything from scratch.

Overall, it makes my life easier because I can focus on the architecture and integrations, while the business team handles content.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

- Too many DOM wrappers, Fragments and widgets add extra layers in the HTML, which makes it harder to control layouts and match clean design system implementations.
- The native theming/UI isn’t as flexible as modern frontend approaches, so I often end up going headless to get full control.
- Performance needs effort, It doesn’t always perform well out of the box—you need proper tuning (JVM, DB, caching), especially for production.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fragmented digital channels, one platform for web, portal, intranet, and e-commerce
Content management at scale, multilingual/RTL, workflows, role-based publishing
Integration complexity, connects to back-end systems (CRM, government APIs ...) out of the box
Unify content, pages, and services, instead of using multiple tools, everything is managed in one platform, which reduces complexity and maintenance effort.
Enable business users, so non-technical users can manage content and pages directly, which speeds up delivery and reduces

  ### 25. Scalable, Interoperable Platform with a Friendly UI and Great Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

I've been using Liferay DXP for a few months now and honestly it's been a smooth ride. The UI is clean and intuitive — layouts are well thought out and it doesn't take long to feel at home. Navigation flows naturally, and the overall design feels modern without being overwhelming. Performance is solid with no lag or surprises under load. Integrating it with our existing systems was easier than I expected, the APIs just work. And the customization options are genuinely flexible; as a developer, I can shape things the way I need without hitting walls. Still early days, but so far I'm impressed.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

A few things could use improvement. The learning curve is real — getting up to speed takes time and the documentation isn't always as clear as you'd hope, especially for edge cases. Onboarding without dedicated support can feel overwhelming at first.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Liferay, managing multiple digital touchpoints was scattered and inefficient — different systems, inconsistent experiences, hard to maintain. Liferay brought everything under one roof. We can now deliver unified digital experiences across channels without juggling multiple tools. The integration with our existing systems saved us significant development time, and the flexibility means we're not paying for custom builds we don't need. It's still early, but the ROI is starting to show — less time spent on maintenance, faster delivery of new features, and a more consistent experience for our users.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Simplified UX/UI integration through the Low-Code capabilities of the solution and the integrated management of design systems. A flexibility of integration adapted to the most demanding environments in terms of security and compliance. Liferay is a solution designed to operate and support high usage loads and the design of critical systems. Liferay is one of the most competitive enterprise DXPs, if not the most competitive, in terms of pricing. Liferay is based on proven functional and technical standards, making it easier to handle than other competing solutions. Liferay offers numerous AI-related features such as secure semantic search, for example. It integrates very well with most LLMs on the market as well as with orchestration and automation tools such as n8n or Camunda. Finally, Liferay offers its own agent design tool: IA Hub.

**What do you dislike about Liferay Digital Experience Platform?**

Some features that are not really turnkey and sometimes require integration effort to work. The advancement in technical skills is hindered by the lack of up-to-date quality documentation.

**What problems is Liferay Digital Experience Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Liferay allows solving various problems, such as the fragmentation of the user experience (and data), the lack of fluidity in user journeys, the lack of personalization, as well as the lack of consistency in the experience across different channels (web, mobile). It also helps to expose data in a secure and reliable manner, among other things.
