Comprehensive Office suite for free with constant updates from the open source community. Easily opens all the Office files I need to work on. The constant updates are important as the the original OpenOffice project appears to be dead in the water. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Once in awhile there may be some compatibility issues but they often get fixed in updates. Some of the commands and such aren't quite the same as MS Office so you may have to hunt around a bit if you're used to MS Office or if you're learning it via a class. Doesn't come with One Note which is part of the Office 365 suite. Sometimes formatting is off with complex Word documents and trading documents with Office 365 users.
