The backward compatibility with new or old MS Office file types, the range of tasks that can be completed, and the fact that it is completely free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The minor compatibility issues with the more advanced features of MS Office, the layout and UI have a bit to be desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My company switched from paying for Excel and Word (and the rest of the office suite) to using the (FREE!) Libre Office package. It has most of the features of Excel and Word. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It seems to crash a lot. It lacks some of the functionality of Excel. We can never get anything with Macros to work. In Libre Writer, there is no way to add more pages to labels with a simple click. All of the buttons are in different places than their Microsoft Office equivalents so navigating takes some getting used to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use LibreOffice every day. It's a complete suite, I can create and modify texts, tables, pictures, slides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the interaction with Microsoft Office is not simple because the documents don't keep the original formatting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that Libre is a free platform that compares, quite well I might add, to the Expensive Microsoft alternatives. Libre is a strong application that does everything you could ever need, and does it well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the stability is iffy. I have had issues with Writer not loading documents with embedded fonts. This is a problem since, as an author, I may have to embed fonts in my documents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that it can generate files with formats that are compatible with other popular office suites like Microsoft Office. There are many templates available to me for the text editor and presentation program. Being available in various operation systems like Windows and Mac makes it versatile and easy to access across different offices and computers. Whenever I have uses using certain features, it's easy for me to find articles and message board posts with tips and solutions. LibreOffice's spreadsheet application Calc works very smoothly with formulas written in other software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Though I feel it has many of the capabilities I need to write and edit common office documents, I don't it's at the same level as Microsoft Office. It can be hard to make the adjustment to LibreOffice if you're used the layout and functionality of Microsoft Office or another similar software. Also, LibreOffice doesn't have the same amount of applications that Microsoft Office has. There is no email client or note taking program. Though compatibility is generally good, there are times when certain files don't open in LibreOffice. It can be hit or miss at times. Finally, the formatting doesn't always match up precisely with the way things looked in the program a file was created with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of access, ability to open writer, calc, draw, impress, math just like Microsoft word. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was taught on Microsoft software all throughout school so the functions and such are very similar its just sometimes when formulating a document it can be a bit confusing at time for functions and tabs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
An excellent alternative, with a very powerful system, which consumes few resources, has a text processor that I find very pleasant and easy to use, a spreadsheet very similar to excel, which makes its use more pleasant Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
