What do you like best about lemon.io?

Their engineers are actually good - I hired a supposed full stack engineer, but he turned out to be an excellent Front Engineer only. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about lemon.io?

Customer service, CEO and overall experience are TERRRIBLE.They tried to bait and switch me. I asked for a FullStack mid-level engineer. They found only 1 candidate (which I was suprised by), I interviewed him and hired him within a week. Two weeks into the job, the candidate told me he is a front end engineer only and that he was coerced into taking this job by Lemon's staff. I and he alerted lemon about this and Lemon arranged a call the next day since now I can't complete the project.

1. They said on a call they would like to make it up to me by covering the full cost of the backend engineer. I said ok. Apparently they were lying.

2. They bring on said backend engineer who was a CTO at another company and he pulled apart my app and said the whole thing needs to be redone after two different calls with him. This CTO said he has to "Consider if he's even going to work on this". I didn't realize freelancers were so demanding.

3. I get on another call now - not only are they not covering the cost of the engineer - they have increased my original estimate. I lost it.

4. Their manager - Malky - was a mess. She contradicted herself on several emails an finally TRIPLED my estimate saying that if I don't pay they don't proceed.

5. I contact their CEO - who supposedly is "not involved" in the project. I write a detailed timeline of this project and share it with him over zoom. He grovelled on the call, said he lets his team make decisions, but overall was useless. Didn't even apologize for the behavior of his team.

I fired them. I lost 5 weeks to them and it set my project back significantly. The only good thing here is I got my refund the same day.

Their CEO brags about building in public, but admitted to me on the call (which I recorded) that they have a staff shortage of engineers. But dude, isn't that your whole business model? Why are you bringing in CTOs from other companies to complicate things?

DO NOT HIRE THEM. This is a scam. I also found that i was getting cold emails from lots of people after I signed up for this service. Horrible customer service and no remores. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Malky Volodarsky of lemon.io

Hi S.!

It's Malky here. First of all, thanks for your honest feedback! We fully acknowledge our mistake, and I wanted to apologize here, too, because I feel terribly sorry about this situation and your experience with Lemon.io.

I also wanted to shed some light on the situation one more time and explain our decisions that left you frustrated:

1. You requested a developer that would create an app for you in Swift and Kotlin as well as develop an API. Since you had tight deadlines, we matched you with a perfect Senior Swift developer hoping to find a great Kotlin Back-End one in the meantime. Our mistake at this point was a lack of clarity. We should have been more clear about the fact that finding a professional experienced in both iOS and Android software development isn't too common. Very few specialists have this stack and can jump right in on an ongoing project. So, aiming to save your time, we decided to split the task between two different people so they can start right away. We're sorry that we didn't clarify this enough, and that came as a shock to you. We feel bad this was your experience with us: we aim for full transparency - and we dropped a ball here.

2. At this point, Lemon.io matched you with one of our top Back End Kotlin developers that conducted initial business research, ran an estimation, and crafted a plan for the development. We covered all these expenses to make up for the mistake we made before.

3. We understand your frustration with the growing cost of development, too. It did grow after our Back End developer did his research, and I see how that can be disappointing. The estimation grew due to tons of refactoring and rewriting of the code your other outsource team had previously written. Again, to make up for the situation and to resolve the issue, we offered you the first 40 hours of Back End development on us on top of the other expenses we had covered. And when that wasn't acceptable to you, we did a full refund to your account and even let you keep the Swift code.

We're sorry we weren't able to help you. Even though we offered you guidance and assistance along the way and fully reimbursed you, several misleading steps on our side in the beginning surely changed the whole course of action in the wrong direction.

I wish you the best of luck with your app, and I sincerely hope that you found a great team to implement it!

Best regards,

Malky

What do you like best about lemon.io?

The initial intake call went well, but it went downhill quickly from here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about lemon.io?

Poor communication and accountability.

I've previously had a lot of success with other platforms but found lemon and though it was worth trying out. Lemon came out slightly cheaper than some of the other options I was looking at, but it was an extremely poor experience. Looking at the previous reviews, it feels like they've may have been stronger before, but clearly have issues at this point in time.

When using any of these platforms the value really stems from the ability for the company to 1) filter/find talent quickly 2) provide support when issues come up.

Had an issue where the developer assigned was billing hours they were not working and it was/is painstaking to work with their team to dispute the hours and end the contract. (actually still ongoing where they asking for painstakingly detailed proof and really unprofessional comms)

Had another issue where we were looking for additional support, but requests were effectively ignored/passed off. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is lemon.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

I was hoping lemon was going to help me resource quickly, but it has cost me months of time and a waste of $$. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Malky Volodarsky of lemon.io

Hi David!

It's Malky here. I appreciate your honest feedback, and I already passed it on to my team so that we can take measures to avoid such situations in the future. I wanted to address this issue and apologize here, too, for your poor experience with Lemon.io. We aim to provide our customers with full transparency, and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy our collaboration.

I'd also like to offer some context for the situation and explain certain things you found frustrating.

When we last talked, you mentioned that the developer logged hours into the system on a day when he (the developer) was, in fact, out of office, and you started a dispute with Lemon.io requesting a refund for the hours billed. I can understand how this situation might have seemed confusing to you, and I can totally relate.

So, we checked the situation to make sure there was no mistake on the developer's side - and found out that he was only logging the hours for the previous week. I'm talking about specific 32 hours billed for the tasks he completed the week before your claim. The mistake here is that he was logging them late making you feel confused and frustrated.

To resolve the issue, we offered to seek your CTO's assistance as an impartial mediator so that he could check the scope of work reported and the hours billed for it. Unfortunately, you refused so we couldn't proceed.

Finally, we couldn't offer you a full refund because you kept the code, and that would be a violation of our IP agreement. So, as much as we wanted to help you there, we were legally bound to stick to the initial agreement.

I'm really sorry, David, that this wasn't a good experience for you, at least after that particular situation. But, with this lesson learned, we'd be happy to work with you again and offer the best service. In any case, I wish you the best luck with your project.

Best regards,

Malky

What do you like best about lemon.io?

The best part of lemon is that one need not check for his developers to develop and modify and design his sites and other pieces of stuff here and there. it's all in one place and that too easy. They help you with the best in business and that too so easily.

All of this is so easy and so good that at first, it's hard to believe. I still remember the day when someone told me about this perfect solution for all my needs, at first I was not able to believe but yes I did believe once I used it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about lemon.io?

Not much but yes the I didn't like the UI of the website that much appealing which it should have been. The UI doesn't attract you that much towards taking this as an option. It should be clear to get this message for a user, he should not find it hard to proceed.

Appealing it should be.

In addition to all, I said I would like to add one more point to get the contact details available easily and efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering lemon.io:

I would say that this can be given at least one try because i am pretty much sure that you will love it.

The problems it solves, the solutions it provides is all a perfect shot.

Must be recommended.. ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is lemon.io solving and how is that benefiting you?

The basic problems which have been solved with this unimaginable thing are to find an appropriate search for your different and variety of development needs, all of them at a single place and too quickly and very efficiently. I personally observed the process of finding my needs much quicker than any other source.

All included its really good and I personally recommend this to anyone.

Earlier I have used many platforms for my similar needs but none of them provided me that support which I got from Lemon, my personal recommendation is this product.

Surely give it a try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
