I think telling people what clause to use would be considered legal advice so their algorithm surfaces what is the most relevant result and leaves it up to the user to determine if that works for them. Much of the database created by a custom search is helpful but much of it is not. The organization and easy comparison of various clauses make this far more useful than free services, and a much better value than much more expensive services. This would be really helpful. Also, you only deal with the US jurisdictions really. It would be great to add some other jurisdictions. If you had some relating to the major areas such as Hong Kong, UK and maybe Switzerland/Germany to get a civil law component this would round out the program. **Recommendations to others considering Law Insider Contract and Clause Search:** Be aware that it is only the US jurisdiction. New York is usually pick but this is handy to see what other companies are actually using in their contracts. Coming from a common law background (non-USA), it is hard to know which jurisdiction to up-skill into in order to benefit my company and have a jurisdiction that the legal team is comfortable with when dealing with US partners. ### 16. The people who operate the site are competent, articulate, receptive, and are working diligently to take this great resource and make it even better. The fact that there is a dictionary which links to each clause is very useful. It loads very quickly, and I like that you can open a new search without moving away from the page that you are on. **What do you dislike about Law Insider Contract and Clause Search?** I don't like that the advanced search is somewhat limited. For example, I cannot search for words within a certain number of words from each other. On the preview of search results, the program does not always show the most relevant preview. The search also doesn't seem to automatically consider related words. Perhaps the most annoying thing is that you often get duplicate results or near-duplicate results, and it would be nice if you could exclude companies or exclude deals. **Recommendations to others considering Law Insider Contract and Clause Search:** It's good if you sort of already know what you are looking for, but if you are even slightly unsure of what words to use or what type of clause you need, it is a very slow process. **What problems is Law Insider Contract and Clause Search solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use LawInsider to double-check the efficacy and customary phrasing of provisions I have to integrate into contracts in my law practice. I work in emerging companies law, where there are not a lot of publicly available contracts for certain types of transactions, so having something to compare with is nice, even if it is not 100% applicable. ### 33. What's not to like? **What do you dislike about Law Insider Contract and Clause Search?** Really the only weak point is that the categorization and filters appear to be clumsily generated in software, so while you can find *precisely* what you want if you know what you're looking for, to gather broad-level ideas you can't really drill down by category through subs until you find the type of document you need. Eg. the "loan agreement" category contains 10k+ results from small personal loans to multi-billion dollar deals, and is supposedly different from the "loan and security agreement" category. Of course, some of the agreements themselves have drafting issues, and overall the collection should be taken much like one would when seeking examples from a library of filed briefs. I find it works best to develop a strategy, write an outline, start drafting, use LawInsider for both boilerplate and drafting ideas for tricky sections, then check for validity and agreement per usual. Minor criticisms aside, this is an essential tool in my practice and I thoroughly recommend it. **Recommendations to others considering Law Insider Contract and Clause Search:** It's a very specific tool, I suggest taking advantage of the trial. **What problems is Law Insider Contract and Clause Search solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm a solo business law practitioner without a big firm's library of previously-drafted materials for reference. LawInsider gives me one and lets me search it at the individual clause level. That saves me hundreds of hours in my drafting process- allowing me to brainstorm; identify useful language and potential contingencies/concerns; and see how better-resourced firms have approached problems. It saves me and my clients time and money... and I'll never again have to totally rewrite one of those profoundly one-sided exemplars from a major research database. ### 34.
