**What do you like best about Knock?**

Knock makes it easy for our organization of multiple teams to jump in and create new email, in-app, and push notifications. The visual template editor allows our developers to quickly create and modify new notifications, and gives us the ability at a glance to check the behaviour of our existing notifications.

Our contacts are fantastic and were quick to answer our questions and provide new features for us when requested. Their insight and availabilty allowed us to implement Knock into our existing (large) product before our set deadline.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Knock is very developer focused and still requires a decent amount of technical know-how to operate/trigger notifications. This is fine, but we'd like the ability to make email design/creation more accessible to our designers. The ability for developers to create custom drag and drop components (like the existing out of the box button component, for example) would enable us to provide building blocks to our designers to use in the creation and design of new emails.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our original notification infrastructure required significant time investment to create new notifications. Each new in-app notification required backend work and also required us to modify each of our frontends that host a notification feed (ex. website, chrome extension). When all this work is measured, implementing a new notification could take anywhere from 3-4 weeks or even longer depending on the complexity.

Knocks backend HTML rendering and template editor has made it easy for us to create new notifications and push out updates to existing ones. Instead of spending upwards of a month on creating and modifying new notifications, we can now do it in hours or even minutes.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

Knock makes it absolutely trivial to achieve multi-channel notification support in your app. It supports emails, SMS, Slack, and everything else any reasonable app could ask for. It makes delegating copy and design to others easy through the online template editor.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Knock has some issues, particularly with bugs and production readiness. They have a sub-par Golang client that makes heavy use of untyped data, and their payload format doesn't support strong typing. Knock has no clean way to manage payload specs in git, despite having environment support. Their environment system lacks branching capabilities, meaning many developers must share the development environment which can sometimes cause issues. The commit system is a good idea, but lacks the info required to be truly useful. It doesn't show the author of a commit or what was changed.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knock solved our problems with having multiple vendor implementations maintained by us lying around in our repository. These would frequently become out of sync and our codebase had no easy way to have multi-channel workflows.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

Until discovering Knock, I used to dedicate weeks of engineering resources to building out proper notification infrastructure. I recently tried Knock for a new project and was blown away by how quick and seamless getting notifications up and running was. Focusing on business logic and having Knock handle all things infra is a massive boost in value. I'm moving all of my current projects over to Knock and will be using Knock for any new projects that come along. Knock is now my go-to recommendation for notification infra.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

There's not much to dislike. The only thing we've given (well-received) feedback on was subscribing users to types of notifications (e.g. when a notification of type X goes out, it should reach an audience subscribed to that type). The easy workaround is to bulk-send to all relevant users on our end in batches of 1000, which has been working fine for us.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed an in-app notification feed along with the infrastructure to send push notifications to both android and iOS. Knock slotted in as a perfect solution that met all of our requirements. The ability to flexibly use their in-app feed components saved us so much time.

Knock has been an excellent choice for our notification messaging needs. We appreciate the ease of setup and the user-friendly interface, which allows our team to create custom workflows and templates quickly. It's great that Knock consolidates all our customer interactions across different messaging channels into one accessible platform. 

The team behind Knock has been exceptional – responsive, open to feedback, and dedicated to implementing improvements based on our suggestions.

We genuinely have not encountered any issues while using Knock. Both the platform and the team have consistently met and exceeded our expectations.

We've discussed general improvements, feedback and nice to haves with the platform and the team have been ontop of it with letting us know where it fits in their priority and roadmap.

Knock addresses the challenge of managing customer notifications across multiple messaging channels by offering a centralised platform. This consolidation simplifies the process, enabling our team to create and manage custom workflows and templates for various notification scenarios efficiently. Setting up multiple environments that simulate application environments and testing notifications is a breeze, making it an ideal notification platform for our needs. The product is complemented by excellent developer documentation and outstanding customer service that goes above and beyond, especially the CEO Sam Seely. The Knock team responded quickly during the implementation process and provided detailed beta features with accompanying developer documentation.

The platform's workflow engine is a standout feature, offering flexible and extensible flows for notification types through integrations with notification providers and functions like batching. But what sets Knock apart is its exceptional team. From the onboarding process and beyond, the team's immeasurable assistance and open communication have instilled unparalleled confidence in the product. Knowing that any arising issues will be addressed promptly and effectively is reassuring.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Our experience with Knock has been seamless. In the rare instances where we encountered issues, such as bugs or feature requests, the team was readily available to address them. The bugs, although minor, were resolved within hours of our report. Moreover, the team was open to our feature requests and even incorporated some of our suggestions into their roadmap, which was greatly appreciated. Overall, the responsive support from the team has made using Knock a hassle-free experience. In full transparency, we did experience a rare outage with Knock that went unnoticed for a few hours. However, the team quickly took ownership of the issue and immediately implemented plans to prevent similar occurrences. They even provided a proper root cause analysis (RCA) and extended night support during recovery. Evidently, the team takes accountability for their platform's performance and is committed to delivering a reliable and resilient service. We appreciate their dedication to ensuring customers are always satisfied with their product and support.

Knock's notification platform has been invaluable in managing the complexities and nuances of notifications within our platform. One of the most significant problems they have addressed is notification fatigue, which they tackle through their batch function. In addition, Knock's platform streamlines the process of sending notifications to various channels, while improving the internal workflow for adding and updating notifications. This has made a significant impact on our team's productivity, as we are now able to deliver new notifications in a matter of days instead of weeks. **What do you like best about Knock?**

Once you have one notification workflow set up in Knock, it is extremely fast to set up and tweak new ones and to update old ones. The UI is fairly straightforward and easy to understand, with simple monitoring of messages and users. And I love that it's super easy to switch between Development and Production and that there are safeguards for committing updates to prod. The few times we've needed to reach out to the Knock team with questions, they responded promptly and were helpful.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

The message template editor for emails is pretty basic. While there is syntax highlighting, I can't say I enjoy using it. But this is a very minor complaint and ultimately it does get the job done!

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Knock to manage both our in-app notifications and email notifications that result from actions users take while using our product. It's great to be able to manage both of these in one place. The Development environment works well for testing before we commit our notification workflows to Production, and it's helpful to be able to turn them off and back on quickly if we need to handle a bug.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

Hard to name just one thing! We loved the ease of use, fantastic developer documentation, and above-and-beyond customer service.

Throughout the implementation, Knock was incredibly responsive whenever questions came up. They also regularly released beta features to us that were delivered on time and came with detailed developer documentation.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

We didn't have any issues using Knock. Whenever we had problems (bugs or feature requests), we reached out to the team and shared our concerns. For bugs (which were minor), the team usually fixed them within hours. For feature requests, they incorporated some of our suggestions into their roadmap. Some of our feature requests included integrating with more channels, supporting translations (which has now been released), and more advanced workflow management.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making it easier to send notifications to a variety of channels, as well as improving the workflow internally for adding/updating notifications. Our team is able to deliver a new notification in a matter of hours now (instead of days or weeks).

**What do you like best about Knock?**

The workflow engine is a fantastic offering powering some truly flexible and extensible flows for our notification types through notification provider integrations and functions such as batching. Beyond the excellent product, the team is truly what I like most about Knock as they've been immeasurably helpful both during the onboarding process and beyond. The responsiveness and openness of the team has instilled a unparalleled confidence in the product as I know any issues that may arise will be resolved promptly and effectively.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

There's nothing I can say I dislike about Knock as both the product and team have not only met but exceeded all expectations. I only wish they had an OpenAPI definition publicly available so I could help improve and extend their .NET client.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knock handles the complexities and nuances of notifications within our platform and solves an immense problem of notification fatigue through their batch function, enabling us to ensure users are receiving important notifications without being overwhelmed at the same time. The UI/UX of building out notification flows prompts contribution throughout both the development and design teams as we can contribute to new and existing notifications, only requiring engineering to setup the foundations. The inline user identification solution makes integration a breeze as syncing users between the two systems isn't necessary, instead we're able to provide the necessary data at time of dispatch.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

Knock is developer-oriented and is incredibly easy to implement.  Love the fact that we can setup multiple environments to mimic our application environments and test the notifications.  Knock is exactly what we were looking for in a notification platform.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

It seems like it's a bit early in the product cycle, and I am looking forward to new features in the future.  I would love to see more capabilities around managing properties.  It was pretty confusing at first trying to figure out how to go to production but we eventually figured out you had to "commit" your changes first to be able to deploy to the next stage.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a notification platform that was quick to implement but would also have the features we needed for the future including sms and in-app notifications.  Knock perfectly fits the needs and we're looking forward to expanding our existing use case as we continue to develop new features in our application.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

I love how you can clone workflows and steps in workflows. Easy UI to work with. I like how you can add conditions to the steps. I like how I push from dev to production environment. I like how I can go back and look at messages sent to users and what data was sent with the email.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

If I don't have preview data for an email template it doesn't display anything on the preview. I usually rely on sending a test email because the preview tab doesn't always seem correct.
When working with adding bullets and a paragraph after, the white space is finicky. I have tried to create variables to use for text after bullets but it always seems to tab to where the bullets are.
Would love to have details be able to be saved on preferences.

Can send out different emails but use the same workflow. Allows Vercel to make pretty emails without doing it ourselves. We don't have to send emails ourselves. We can just trigger them based on data.

With the Knock platform, we can easily set up new notifications and trigger them based on our data and existing service patterns.

It would be helpful to have a React-Native library for the in-app notification feed, which is not available at the time of writing this review.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

It's incredibly strait-forward; we've been able to carefully design and deploy our business needs while not having to spend too much time and resources setting up the platform. Another source of value for us was integration with other services, such as SendGrid, with ease, and the multi-platform support was no issue.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

We think the templating experience was good, yet it was some improvements that can be added. Writing HTML was not straightforward. We instead wrote our HTML templates elsewhere than just copying and pasting.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having a single place to manage user communication through email and push notifications, as developers, our productivity definitely increased, while been easy to understand for the business development team.

Super simple to set up. Non technical people can drop in and make copy updates without bothering me, Mr Developer. The drop in widgets intergrated seamlessly into our stack.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

There's a serious lack of conditional logic available. Comparing to our old provider, CustomerIO, we had a much more granular control about who got what message/notifications when. We miss that feature.

Simply providing push notifications to our users at the appropriate time. Not having to manage this infrastructure is incredibly helpful as we can focus on doing what we do best.

Knock is great! It helps save so much time and effort for us. After the initial setup, defining workflows and setting up new notifications is straightforward. I love the ability for anyone to get into the product and see visually how each workflow is set up.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Nothing in particular. It is made for developers and does a great job at being that.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knock primarily helps us batch notifications together before sending them to our customers. Notifying users about similar things could be annoying. Hence, the ability to batch and send updates once in a while vs. sending updates all the time is a much better experience for our customers. Thus, our notifications (primarily emails) for some use cases are more helpful and engaging.

Like authentication, notifications are part of a system that users expect to be there and work but don't provide a ton of strategic value to a product. I dreaded building out a notification subsystem for our application. I knew it had the potential of becoming just as significant, if not larger, than the rest of our product. Knock was super simple to integrate, implement, and handle all of our use cases, plus some!

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

I don't have anything negative to say about Knock. Knock has built out more API surface and use cases than I even have a need for.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knock solves our in-app notifications for when our background processes error out and require user interactions.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

The core selling point of Knock is that it helps you get to market quicker. In most codebases, you'll have the dispensation to send notifications. Setting up code and infrastructure to support most notification use cases is not complex. But Knock does it better and helps you roll it out faster; these effects are even more profound if you need to launch with nontrivial notification features. Also, their support is great!

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

You'll have to think about notifications differently in your code (e.g., you are no longer asserting on rendered email content but on an API call). You no longer own notifications as a core concept, and that tradeoff might not be appropriate for your product. You are reliant on an intermediate party for contacting your users.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Knock powers our notification system (primarily email), which is a core part of our product. It allowed us to ship advanced notification features more quickly and let us focus on our core product rather than building notification features.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

Using Knock's separated development and production envionments allows you to thoroughly QA and test without having to hack together a solution yourself. The workflow is set up naturally to what a developer would expect; making changes in dev, testing, and committing to the production environment. It reduces risk without having to spend time setting up.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

There have been times when the documentation could have been better. However, I contacted support directly, and they solved my issue and consequently updated the documentation.

**What problems is Knock solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a startup finding product market fit, we don't have time to build everything we need. Knock allowed us to integrate a highly customisable, stable notification service very quickly. We use Knock to send notifications to individuals and teams, but batch the notifications in different ways depending on the action/how many actions were performed. We also send email notifications if an in app notification wasn't seen in a certain amount of time. This is basically just the standard knock notification flow modified from one of the templates.

**What do you like best about Knock?**

As a software engineer on a Growth team, what I appreciate most about Knock is the platform's advanced capabilities, such as the scheduling feature and the Fetch functionality. The ability to schedule notifications ensures that our end-users receive timely and relevant updates, while the Fetch function allows us to execute HTTP requests within a workflow, acquiring additional data for our channel step templates.

The Fetch functionality is particularly powerful as it enables us to retrieve data that may not be immediately available when a workflow is triggered. This feature is especially useful when combined with a batch function to gather trigger data for a group of activities after a batch window has closed. Additionally, the Fetch function can be used to trigger side effects in our systems as Knock processes the workflow.

These advanced features, combined with Knock's API and user-friendly dashboard, simplify the process of designing, controlling, and delivering notifications. This saves our team time and effort while enhancing the overall user experience.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Though Knock excels in many aspects, one area that could benefit from further development is the integration of more comprehensive analytics. Providing deeper insights into user interactions with notifications, as well as real-time performance metrics, would help optimize notification strategies and improve the overall impact of our campaigns.

Knock allows us to keep our notification code simple in our various applications.  We simply report basic user information to Knock, and then trigger workflows.  All our workflow logic, and templating is in Knock, and our app code doesn't need to change. We've evaluated other notification systems along with Knock. Areas they excelled at (compared to their competitors) were documentation and SDK; they were up-to-date and easy to follow. The people at Knock have also been helpful with their fast response to requests and concerns we've raised.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

Knock is still a newcomer (or is one of them) in this field compared to its competitors. This made it a bit harder to convince our leadership about Knock. There were also very few infrastructure blips due to the volume of notifications we've been sending. But they were able to recover within hours, were transparent about the root cause, and outlined their plan for improvements.

Improving our notification system has been an ongoing discussion internally within our company (i.e. centralizing different notification channels into one system). One of the major concerns was the velocity of how we can deliver the improved notification system (if we were to build it ourselves). **What do you like best about Knock?**

Our development team needed to build a notification system that worked in our web platform (React Native + NextJS) and to our Mailgun + Twilio systems. We needed to notify our sellers and buyers of their orders. Knock was able to get us to do that reliably. They were able to integrate with Segment -- which we needed in order to have all of our data movement centralized in one point.

**What do you dislike about Knock?**

There was a few bugs. Data wasn't sent in the right places. In-app notifications didn't get pushed right. Thankfully, whenever I pushed the bugs, the customer support team ACTUALLY fixed my problems. This was great. 

Especially for a product that is so hybrid with SaaS and DevTool, it was very helpful to get direct product support when something was wrong. They were even willing to check my code -- to see if it was my implementation error or theirs.

Creating transaction notifications in one centralized location without having to hard code it into our system. This makes it flexible. What's great is the app logs the event notifications. This gives me security in knowing our sellers and buyers are ACTUALLY receiving the notification.

It's not very practical to send notifications in several languages. If you have several branches, you will have to duplicate your workflows. When you start getting several whitelabel branches this can get annoying

It's super easy to implement new push, sms and email communications, 
the templating system makes it so we're very fast at deploying new workflows.
The configuration options for workflows are unmatched, allowing us to schedule, add delays based on payload, and even make API calls in the middle of a workflow to dynamically change behavior.

Not having an extra way to group workflows, currently we can group by category, but it would be nice to have a folder of sorts.

We've offloaded all our communication integrations to Knock. It's much easier to add and configure new flows just by going to the dashboard. There's no need for engineering work to iterate or change communication flows.

Although the web user interface is good, sometimes I want to be using an API to control changes. Knock's team has said that this functionality is coming soon, but we'll see.
