Before Kartra, I was stitching together a course platform, a separate checkout tool, an email provider, and a membership plugin—and they’d constantly fall out of sync. With Kartra, my courses, memberships, and checkout flows all talk to each other natively. When someone buys, they’re automatically tagged, added to the right sequence, and given access to the right content. No Zapier hacks, no broken webhooks at 2am. The checkout pages have been a quiet standout, too. The built-in order bumps and upsell flows took me maybe an hour to set up, and they’ve added a noticeable bump to my average order value without needing any extra tools. Email automations are genuinely powerful once you wrap your head around them. The behavioral tagging system (open this, click that, visited this page) lets you get pretty surgical with follow-up sequences. It’s not perfect—the UI has a learning curve, and some pages feel like they haven’t been touched since 2025—but once you know where everything lives, the workflow becomes pretty smooth. For anyone running a real digital product business, it removes a lot of the “duct tape and prayer” that comes with piecing together five different tools. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** The UI is the biggest friction point. It works, but it feels dated in places and some screens haven't been modernized in a while. Navigating between pages, funnels, and products can get clunky when your account starts filling up. There's no quick global search, so finding a specific email or page buried in your account becomes more annoying than it should be. The learning curve is real. I wouldn't call it beginner-friendly. It took me a few weeks before things clicked and the documentation doesn't always cover the less obvious stuff. Some workflows require more steps than feel necessary, like there are just a few too many clicks to get to where you're going. Video hosting is functional but basic. If you're serious about delivering course content with any kind of analytics on viewing behavior, you'll probably want to host elsewhere and embed. Pricing is on the higher side, especially if you're in an earlier stage. The entry plan has limits that push you toward upgrading sooner than feels fair. Things like the number of contacts or pages can sneak up on you. And the mobile experience, both for builders and members, is not great. Running a digital product business means you're constantly managing courses, emails, checkouts, and memberships and before Kartra I had all of that spread across different platforms. The time I spent maintaining integrations and troubleshooting sync issues between tools was genuinely eating into time I should've been spending on the actual business. Kartra consolidates all of that into one place and the benefit is less about any single feature and more about everything just working together. A new member buys, gets the right access, enters the right email sequence, and shows up correctly in my reporting without me touching anything. That kind of automation reliability adds up over time. It's also helped with conversions in a pretty direct way. Having order bumps and upsells built into the checkout natively, without needing a separate tool, made it easy to test and keep running without any maintenance overhead. From an ROI standpoint it's not cheap, but when I actually added up what I was paying across five other tools, Kartra came out close to even and in some months cheaper. The bigger benefit though is just the hours saved not managing a frankenstack of integrations every time something breaks or an API changes. The Calendars component is great for scheduling paid appointments. The chat support is decent, available from midnight to 4am PST and 8am to Noon PST weekdays. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** The page redirection feature presented as a solution to protect content is cookie-based, meaning it will function correctly for maybe 30% of visitors. Even if a user is logged into one of your memberships that is hosted by Kartra, Kartra does not look at the tags they have associated with their contact record to determine if they are allowed access to one of your pages in Kartra. 100% cookie-based. So every visitor would be required to allow third-party cookies in their browser settings for this to have a chance at functioning. Third-party cookies are disabled by default for almost all browsers. There are bugs in the email builder, page builder and membership builder that should have been worked out by the beta release. Working within these builders is very tedious and time-consuming as a result. They do host videos for use in your memberships, but they must be uploaded and processed in real-time. The size restriction per video file is 999MB, which is not great if you have high-resolution videos. Be prepared to split them into several files. The media upload tool has the option to queue up videos for upload, but in my experience, it is smarter to do one at a time because the queue has a tendency to fail and all videos in the queue are lost when that happens. So you must upload the video and then wait for it to process which takes 5, 10, 15 minutes each. There is no functionality for creating reports and the analytics are basic. The Funnels function they seem to be super proud of is nothing more than a mock representation of what might happen if you built out the pretend model that you can create in their Funnels function. It has no real use, it is all make-believe. **What problems is Kartra solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have been able to create some automations that have improved some of our processes, but honestly, nothing I couldn't have built with most other all-in-one SaaS solutions. ### 10. They give you every advantage under the sun to be successful in your business through their features and individualized customer support. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** Well since my first review. Alot happened. Shortly after I did this review, something very strange happened. I woke up, did my thing and sat down in front of my laptop to login to my Kartra account. Everything seemed normal, entered my username & password then clicked login. Next thing i know, a popup appears telling me I have been blocked and to contact chat support. Now aside from trying to figure out why i was blocked, I now needed to find a way to contact chat support, from the outside of my Kartra account. Not an easy thing to do. My only option was to wait until I was in a different IP and try and login. When all of those methods failed , days had turned into weeks, and weeks into months. I had an associate who I iknew also had a Kartra account forward a message for me to Kartra support, explaining the situation. Another few weeks later, I was finally contacted by someone at Kartra, who never really told me anything. Just that I was no longer welcome at Kartra. This sudden lockout, cost me an entire years worth of commissions. Because as soon as I was locked out, everything in my account failed to renew, failed to re-activate and so on. None of my optin pages worked, my funnels were no more and basically my entire online business dissolved. To this very day, I have never been told WHY this happened, or anything. You would think that for something to end like this, the way it ended, that you would want to let this customer/client know exactly what happened. So they may learn and gain a better understanding of what happened. Kartra in this matter chose to ignore me, lock me out of everything, blacklist me. Totally breaking my online into tiny scattered pieces that I couldnt rebuild quite the same and it never did gain traction again. I wish I had more to tell you but even I dont know and will never know why , out of the blue, i was locked out, never to return to Kartra. **Recommendations to others considering Kartra:** My advice. If you are serious about your business, and are looking for a platform that will give you the most solid foundation to grow and provide outstanding value to your clients and customers, then you owe it yourself & your business to make Kartra your home. While the product itself is excellent, if you are unsure about something or dont have much experience with a funnel builder service like this, i would shy away cause as soon as something goes wrong, youll get shut out, shut down and out of business before you even know what happened. **What problems is Kartra solving and how is that benefiting you?** The major problem that I had was being able to see exactly what I had as far as campaign 'pieces'. You'll wonder how your business ran without Kartra because when you dont have to log into separate websites for software, autoresponder's, Domain & Hosting vendors and page builders, are able to address ALL those aspects and more under 1 roof, you'll never want to use any other platform for your business. ### 14. I want the ability to customize the login screen for specific content exclusive to members only. However, the default login screen is uncustomizable at the moment. Also, I'd like to see a little more robustness when setting wait states within the Sequence builder for minute increments instead of the default of 1 hour. **Recommendations to others considering Kartra:** Understand that Kartra is not a Blog tool like a WordPress site! Although you can build a blog and website, if you are looking to integrate your blog site to use with Kartra, consider keeping your website just for the blog and add Kartra for your primary website. Otherwise, you will be a bit dissapointed there are no RSS feeds available currently, and there is much setup necessary to get a blog site up and to run using Kartra. **What problems is Kartra solving and how is that benefiting you?** Kartra solved the problem of having multiple systems for my marketing, sales, communication, and website to provide a single solution. Additionally, it allows me to have a calendar for appointment setting and scheduling. I also like that I can build a training portal to offer memberships for my training and teaching video products and services. With the addition of Quizzes and Surveys, I can add them to my classes or send them out as lead magnets or reviews. One is the functionality of getting to emails and editing them. Within a sequence or automation, you have to click through very tediously to get to the email, open the email, edit the email and save the email. I would also mention some API integrations are not evident, and there are some hindrances in their checkout processes (minimal products). You are forced to create a Product for people to register. Even if you set the dollar amount to zero, registrants are still required to provide payment information. that was a real dealbreaker. The email marketing system is simple to use and an email blast can be sent out rapidly and efficiently compared to my experience with Mailchimp. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** The calendar system, in particular, is repetitive and cannot be cloned to create additional classes. Rescheduling classes is difficult, adding text in certain areas for instruction while booking is not intuitive and if you add these instructions where it allows space, those instructions are also used on a second page, after the reservation is made, where it looks like an error because it's completely inappropriate placement after booking. There are so many little issues like this throughout the system. With customising the content, some areas us RGB color scheme, others use HEX and yet others cannot be customised at all and you need to select one of the colors in the array given. The membership areas are not nearly as customisable as the pages, which is a disappointment because the flashy sales pages may bring in the customers, but the membership area is what the audience pays for. Importing an email list that was collected from Mailchimp or other source can be difficult to impossible and I have had several lists not approved. I understand that Kartra is a very complex system, but it is far from ideal and the requested upgrades are painfully slow. I've been using Kartra for 10 months now and I have two memberships built, numerous pages, and over 10 classes on two calendars. It's been a frustrating system and difficult company to work with. **Recommendations to others considering Kartra:** Be willing to put up with quirks and slow upgrades of Kartra. Calendars/scheduling is the newest feature and the most troublesome, in my opinion. It goes far beyond just designing a website/landing page or sending an email. They cover all the bases - from websites, landing pages, email marketing/automation with sequences and tagging, funnels, simple e-commerce, digital downloads, membership sites, help desk, scheduling, forms, affiliates and now an agency solution. If you'd like to consolidate the many platforms you use, Kartra can handle 95% of everything you throw at it. Their support group on Facebook is second to none. They truly care about their people and it shows; it's like a family. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** Learning the platform was a long, complicated process. They have people lined up that will help "onboard" you and while that's extremely helpful and effective, I think it's always beneficial to know your platform inside and out so you can make necessary changes as needed and not have to depend on the support team, or others. Because of the complexity, there's a time-consuming process you'll have to undertake before you can "go live". I mean, it makes sense due to the fullness and depth of their platform, just be sure to go into it knowing: (1), the trial is not nearly long enough to know if it's a right fit for your business, and (2), it'll take time to setup your workflows and make sense of how everything is integrated, and (3), host your videos elsewhere or you'll get eaten alive in bandwith overcharges. Kartra has what they call Kartraverse, which is like a step-by-step training course on how to use their platform. It's superb and very informative; however, it's still in its infancy and you have to wait until they create the next lesson before you can do in-depth with whatever topic they decide, and that was often frustrating. With that said, however, they also do a lot of webinars that are in-depth and full of insight, but sitting through a webinar to find one answer is a bit defeating when you're in a hurry or just not really sure what exactly you're even looking for. Their documentation leaves a little to be needed. Their page designer is also a bit on the clunky side without a lot of flexibility, and that's one place where they lost me. I don't like being held to rigid flows, templates and outlines. There's also not a way to remove their branding from emails, just so you know, in case that's a big turn-off for you. Kartra requires a lot of back and forth and in the beginning that can be extra confusing and frustrating. Once you get to know their method, it definitely makes sense, but it just seems that there has to be a better way of doing it so it's more user friendly. It saves me from having to subscribe to many different service providers. I truly love the (almost) All-in-One approach. There are many training videos and the Facebook group is an awesome resource for extra tips and immediate help. I am happy with Kartra, because it allowed me to really upgrade the online presence of my business, and to automate my sales and the communication with my clients. It enhances my ability to have a detailed database of my clients, their purchase activity and browsing behaviors. Once I learned how to utilize the different modules, it became very easy to duplicate existing segments or modify templates. I also appreciate, that Karta continues to work on the integration of even more features. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** There are new features added frequently. That is in itself a good thing. But it requires keeping up with the changes. A couple of times it resulted in me having to redo things. In spite of the videos and online Wiki, this is a very complicated system to configure. The payoff once everything is set up is that it's mostly hands-off and runs itself. It's super easy to attach your payment processor(s) and create different payment options for your products. Setting up each area is accompanied by inline, easy to understand instruction that even self-professed non-techies can conquer. **What do you dislike about Kartra?** One issue I had with Kartra was that each element had to be published before it could be attached/linked to another, which means a lot of back and forth when you have a product that has multiple parts: product, landing page, membership portal + all the little pieces that made each of those up. The other issue, which was an issue for me as an advanced WordPress designer, was the restrictions and having to format each block of the design repeatedly. Admittedly, given time constraints of the project, I was unable to search around for landing page customization tutorials which may have helped to iron out the issues we were having with how images appeared on mobile if even the tiniest modification was made to a preset content block. The saving grace with that part of the cons was that it was super easy for me to create the landing pages we wanted in WordPress and have CTA buttons connect to the checkout page and subsequent automations in Kartra, so it wasn't a total loss. **Recommendations to others considering Kartra:** If total control of the design of elements like landing pages is important to you, you may want to host those pages elsewhere.
