**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Combining the ethos of triage (not working from your inbox and minimising notifications) with the reporting oversights, very useful workflow templates and future focused weekly newsletters.
Another notable point is the fast cadence at which Karbon listens to its user and rolls out useful feature and bug fixes.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

The ability to view client history across many users and interactions is the best part of Karbon. You no longer have to wonder if someone responded to a client or followed them up - you can open their record and see this immediately.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Searching capability can be clunky sometimes. The search view can be tricky to navigate, and you may not find what you are looking for even when using the correct and specific search terms.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have several people across the globe working on each of our jobs and with each of our clients. We can also work at different times. Karbon enables us to keep up to date with work statuses, tasks, and new client information all in the one place. There is no guessing about when things have happened because everything is time and date stamped. Associating time with tasks is also great too. I love that you can view your day and see what you have worked on and add your time from there - super helpful when working on many things at once.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

1) Client-facing tasks allow you to automate tedious things such as monthly document collection.
2) It is easy to create and/or customize templates to automate common work. Daily, Monthly, quarterly and yearly. 
3) Karbon provides hundreds of premade templates, including specific templates for specific nations. I am Canadian and found templates for our particular tax requirements.
4) Our clients freaking love the Karbon portal...no seriously...we got dozens of compliments within a couple of months of implementing Karbon.
5) Interoffice communication is easy, especially when multiple people work on the same file.
6)  You have easy access to all emails sent to a client from everyone in your office. You can see emails from the other members of your office. This helps avoid spending lots of time trying to catch up on a client file if your colleague is out of the office or on vacation.
7) You are able to drag existing work directly into your Outlook or Google calendar to block schedule. This is a great way to plan your entire week.
8) Karbon provides a number of educational opportunities, such as blog posts and webinars. Many are specific to Karbon but others are of interest to people in the field in general.
9) The Karbon community is amazing!

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

1) There is a learning curve, and it will take time to fit Karbon into your workflow. You need to put the time into Karbon from the first time you log in. An excellent training program mitigates this.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) Keeping client work on track, especially re-occurring work.
2) It Provides an easy and secure way for clients to upload sensitive information.
3) Simplifies the way we share communications from clients and about clients.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

I am absolutely blown away by Karbon software! This platform has truly revolutionized the way my organization manages tasks, time, and communication. From the moment we started using Karbon, we knew that we had found something truly special.

One of the standout features of Karbon is its unbeatable task management capabilities. With this software, our team is able to easily create, assign, and track tasks, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks. The user-friendly interface and intuitive design make it easy for even the most technologically challenged team members to use, and the customizable workflows allow us to tailor the platform to our specific needs.

In addition to its top-notch task management functionality, Karbon also excels in time management. The fact that all client correspondence, documents and internal communication linked to a specific client and work item, can be "tagged" to the relevant work item to easily track and access it.

The email integration : I do not quite like the display when creating new emails. The formatting and view should be more aligned with G.mail

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

If you are ready to move your firm into the new era of accounting, this is the software you need.  It is very collaborative with the team and clients.  I love how easy it is to link client communication in their timeline and how it facilitates our team's work by creating a robust database within your workflow and collaboration hub. I am also giving a 5 stars review to Karbon's team.  They are readily available to share their tips and knowledge on improving your setup and workflow.

The learning curve is steep....be ready to invest a lot of time setting up Karbon but mostly learning how to use it properly.  We implemented the system about 18 months ago and I believe we have mastered only 50% of all their functionality so far.

Work Management and integrated email would be the most important features - we would be lost without access to work templates and recurring work items. Outside of that I love the beginning of Karbon AI and hope to see more soon!

There are still some key features that are missing that make things have to be done outside of Karbon. Some challenges that come to mind - capacity planning, lack of shared mailboxes, data integrity, billing

Helps with transparency across the firm, everyone can see where a specific work item is at based on activity and statuses. Automation is also helping reduce the load of some administrative tasks.

Its flexibility in Work and task items is fantastic. You can easily create one big work item and deligate it out accordingly. This is a useful feature for having multiple people work the same file. I also find the Notes feature useful for leaving messages for other workers (like when you leave a note at their desk in the physical world).

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I find it frustrating to not be able to prioritize work for the day. I wish i could say this is my number 1 work item today and move it to the top of the work area or in the my weeks working on section.

It allows us to make work items for a client's file and delegate it to the appropriate worker. The work item then contains all the instructions for the work within the tasks.

The clean and neat visual of every project/task and its stage. it allows me to see exactly where im standing and all of the communication around it and their documents.

Missing a scorecard dashboard style that shows how many projects/task are due or overdue for this week, this month etc.
that would help my see the workflow in figures with out going into each project or workflow

we can manage the firm, each team member knows what is assigned to them. and it only gets to us when the prior steps have been done. the client also know whats outstanding

I love that my entire team can access any client and the progress of their journey through our firm at any time.  I can also ensure our team is delivering on our promises.

Searching within a client's timeline can sometimes present in a less than clear fashion, but this may be on our end and not necessarily a shortcoming of Karbon specifically.

We were less than great in our follow-up game.  We are finally utilizing To-Dos more effectively, and we have dropped far fewer proverbial balls meaning happier clients and fewer headaches.

Karbon is the ideal online tool to keep client data organized, thereby giving you the information you need to create efficient work flows and never miss a deadline! Karbon has been instrumental to the organization and growth of my firm. Karbon community is extremely helpful and interactive - I'm thankful for the support and brainstorming with other users.
Now, I honestly don't know how I functioned without it!

I would love to see a quoting functionality within Karbon ;)

Using Karbon, I no longer worry about deadlines - as I program every job/task (one-off OR recurring) into my workflow. Triage is an excellent interface for managing a busy inbox efficiently. With Karbon workflow templates, I can more easily set up work and delegate it to a colleague.

I think the thing I like most about Karbon is it keeps me organized--emails, tasks, and client processes there is a place for it all.  I love that Karbon is constantly changing and improving.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I dislike that Karbon does not have an internal live chat feature--I do love the comments but I would love for them to add an internal chat feature similar to if I was to chat with someone at Karbon.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon solves most of our problems but I would say the biggest problem it solves for us is the problems related to process and organization.  I have worked at other firms that didn't use Karbon and tasks would get missed and emails overlooked but with Karbon it's very hard to do that.

Organizing my work life! From creating TO DO's right from an email, to assigning emails with DUE DATES. Karbon ensures each client's tasks are neatly organized in a methodical manner that allows efficiency and productivity!

I personally do not have any dislikes but have found that individuals who struggle with technological changes find it difficult to integrate Karbon into their daily routines.

Karbon organizes multiple workflows for multiple clients, which ensures our teams know exactly what is expected and by when. This allows for productivity, efficiency and amazing communication.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Triage of emails means you need never lose them. The 'My Week' feature means that all the jobs I need to do are listed and can be separated as I need them. Work templates mean I can capture knowledge so I don't keep having to go through the re-learning process. Superb value for money.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Top 10 recently worked on (expanded from 3) would be nice, ability to amend column sizes in My Week would be useful and the ability to edit details without going through multiple screens. Overall though its all there.

Keeping on top of all the various moving parts is time saving.

The comments you can add on emails and adding emails to a type of work - makes it easier to find stuff.

Least helpful is the work tasks under the work checklist (but this could be unique to our work). Also, the to do list and work in progress seems like the same thing.

To find emails and links and documents quickly, since it's categorised by type of work, thus saving time (efficiency). Also, to discuss emails in the comment section.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

There are tons of features to accomplish whatever your goals are. I am using Karbon to schedule and plan my daily tasks, and the My Week tab is perfect for that; it even posts to my Google calendar. My favorite feature is the connectivity with my Google account; I can answer emails and connect those emails with new or existing jobs.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

The biggest negative about Karbon is that organizing your account is time-consuming; you have to individually click into jobs to change the status rather than be able to do it in a batch. Also, I love the ability to post to Google Calendar, but once you post to the Calendar, nothing links that post to the Karbon job.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Karbon keeps my notes organized in a single place. I used to make paper notes, but would have a problem finding a note when I needed it, with Karbon, I can keep the notes organized, and Karbon has a lot of features which simplifies that.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Triage and my week are excellent features.  Work items and the work item Kanban view are great tools, and the work can be split down further into specific weeks that the work is due.  Tagging/messaging colleagues in Triage is a priceless feature.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

It isn't quite as easy to create a task list as I would like e.g. vs Microsoft ToDo, and then create team task lists etc.  However, improvements have been made and continue to come - mainly with the Assignments feature.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team collaboration and visibility of information.  
Using the Timeline view we can quickly see all correspondence with a client, so we are in the picture with the full teams dealings on that client.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon is very effective for planning, but there are a few small little things that can be improved upon to make the experience better, e.g., it would be nice to have an alarm bell or screen that opens when you login with all tasks that is due today.
The dashboards are user-friendly.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Finding the correct email correspondence can be very difficult at times.
Images cannot be resized
Cannot insert a table in the message. This needs to be done elsewhere and then pasted in the body of the email.
My week: other people's tasks appear in My week which I don't believe should be there until it has been assigned to me
It would be nice to be able to invoice clients from within Karbon and not use other software.
When creating a repeating schedule and you selected a monthly repeat rather than annual, there is no way to easily fix it as these fields are greyed out. You actually need to end the repeating schedule and start all over again.
Timesheets: If a template has been set up with a specific task type in the budget, then the user should be prompted to use that task type when entering their time

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Planning, if it is done right, but there is a lot of user-intervention required here. It would be better for the system to remind you of certain deadlines, e.g.,  when you login - to get a summary of all tasks due today and tomorrow

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

As soon as I hired my first team member, I realized that the system I'd been using to manage bookkeeping work wasn't going to cut it. Karbon is great because it's created specifically for accounting firms. A lot of the features I'd been trying to recreate in my own system (repeating monthly work, assigning emails to clients and projects) I realized were already there in an accounting-firm-specific app. What really got me though was the name of the email inbox. It's not called Inbox, it's called Triage. I love that. When I go into my email, that's exactly what I'm doing - sorting through the priority items, and deciding what to focus my attention on. Karbon makes it easy to do that, you can tag certain senders (such as emails from mailing lists or routine notifications) as low priority, so those go into a separate inbox, and your Triage only contains priority messages. And you can also attach the emails to different work items so that the info is all in one place. Team members can also see those messages, making it so much easier to keep things from slipping through the cracks.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon has two ways to sort through your "To Do" items - My Week, and To Do. My Week is solid, although generally, I'm working in the Kanban layout work screen, and with that I've got an eye on everything I need to do. But the To Do section... could be better. The one-off tasks that aren't related to any particular work, those can be added as To Dos and will show up in the To Do section, but for me, this list tends to grow and sprawl and it takes some tinkering with the filters to get it to show what you need to see. So I generally avoid the To Do section, and use the My Week section instead to track my individual To Dos.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of clients, all with similar monthly bookkeeping work. The monthly work for each client are mostly similar but not identical. Also, they change over time as the client adds new accounts, starts payroll, etc. Without a work management system in place, there'd be a pretty low cap as to how many clients we could take on, since the complexity of it would overwhelm us. But with Karbon, I have work templates set up to start a new client, and then that client's work can be customized. Also, the repeating monthly work items inherit changes made to the current monthly work item - that's crucial. So it's a bit like each client has their own work template that you can constantly improve upon and adjust. It's made us a much more efficient firm.

**What do you like best about Karbon?**

Karbon's Triage setup and mindset helps organize and prioritise work. 

Email transparency throughout the team and internal comments and notes are AMAZING functions to help improve team communication flow.

Work templates and recurrences are wonderful assists in automating a good part of the administrative work of each engagement.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Billing (in beta) doesn't seem to be coming along as well as we initially anticipated, requiring us to look outside this solution for that functionality.

Certain reporting we would like to see is not readily available (it can be requested and provided, but not "at our fingertips).

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The transparency and team communication improvements offered by the email integration and automated sharing function has broken down silos of information and ensured client communication (from all team members) is readily available for whoever needs to jump in and help, and/or as a reminder for those previously involved!

The Work Items provide the right guidance for both experienced and new team members (additional guidance can easily be provided, but doesn't bog down those who don't require). Work Item recurrences are wonderful for helping populate our workflow and assisting with forward capacity planning.

Karbon works great for project management, checklists, client communication, scheduling out the projects on a calendar, and internal team communication (and there are probably more features I don't use). The best part about it is that when we started using Karbon, there was no functionality that would tie to my outlook calendar, but their development team listened to their customer base feedback and rolled out a calendar feature called My Week earlier this year. I have been very happy with the software and can't recommend Karbon enough. Thank you Karbon for helping our firm's bottom line along with helping me find a work/life balance as a small firm owner. We were lost without you, I would never go back.

It is rare, but sometimes the system lags or goes down completely. I know that the developers are working to correct these issues, and they have been great at receiving feedback and implementing changes in the past, so I know they'll address these issues and make the software stronger.

We were having problems with projects slipping through the cracks. Excel sheets were not cutting it. Karbon helps us track the project so that our team knows what they're supposed to be working on and when. It also tracks client communication as a CRM so all team members have visibility into the client communication.

Karbon brings all our essential tasks and communication into one platform with clear transparency. I've used Karbon to systemize and streamline how services are delivered while having enough flexibility to customize the specific details/processes for each client. I can assign tasks to team members directly from emails received from clients, which saves a ton of time, and by doing it this way, I am looped into the conversation when my team member picks up the work and responds to the client. As the owner, I can see progress on tasks and view communications to/from clients even when I am not part of the conversation. Karbon allows us to connect emails directly to tasks, so all relevant communication is where you need it instead of digging through email, and we can add notes and internal communication as well.    It's been a game changer in y business and ideal for a remote team.  
The customer support is excellent.  They host a very active community forum page where they regularly glean new ideas and improvements to take to their development team.  I feel like they care about their clients and are developing this product so I can be successful.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

I am still waiting for more audit trails and time-stamped time cards.  But the program integrates nicely with QB Time which provides both of those.  My only other complaint is I can't seem to get the face palm emoji in the comments section, which I would use more than I should as I am trying to keep a positive spin on things (complain about clients less), so I guess it's best it isn't there.

I love everything about this tool. It took some time to master all the tricks and tips, but you can't stop using them once you get them. The reporting tab might be added to the insights model to track and print out all the company's and projects' KPIs and desired metrics (for management purposes).

We manage many clients' engagements, and keeping track of communications, attachments, due dates, etc., became very cumbersome. Karbon helped us organize our workflows and gave us a central location for our client work. It allows us to view progress at a macro and micro level and, if needed, communicate directly with team members on any given task or work item. The client task requests are a game changer and cuts down on requests for documents and information.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Though Karbon integrates very well with email, I wish there was a way to manage spam other than to clear it from the Triage. It's not a full-fledged email client, so I can understand it missing some features, but further development in that area could make it so I rarely have to log in to my email account directly to manage spam or create rules for specific emails.

We needed a central location for all of our tasks, client communications, and documents. Karbon solved all of those issues very efficiently in a way that did not require a TON of additional training. We can set up recurring work items and tasks easily and love the ability for our senior team to check in on work without a lot of back and forth between them and the team members. Being able to view all email communications with a client is absolutely a game changer when you have multiple team members contacting the same person, or needing to find info from conversations with another team member. And making comments and tagging people! It's like facebook for workflows and the ease of communication is so key in our team's work management.

There seem to be a lot of recent updates on Karbon KPIs, which, as far as I have seen, are not what people are asking for the most. We are looking for certain features to be improved on such as being able to send the client requests to multiple people at once, yet it seems that has been put on hold in favour of something that is virtually useless to our team.

Karbon invests in its open API. Many of the staff are willing to help implement DIY customizations.

Where do I start? Client portal, yes, it's got that.  Client task lists with doc uploads and comments. Yes, it has that too. Automated reminders?  Check. Clients comment on our excellent personal communication. We don't tell them it's automated.  Karbon work templates help keep my staff on task, and I can track their progress.  Oh! Did I mention integration with our document storage so everything is in one place? YES!!! I can't believe it took me so long to get my firm on Karbon. No matter how many calls I get from other software providers, Karbon is stuck with my firm for life.  Thanks, Karbon!

In a perfect world, Karbon would have multiple timers for client work. It's a pain when a client calls with work, and you already have a timer running.  That being said, Karbon has a community forum where you can post your requests and ideas for upgrades.  Others can vote if they like your suggestion or comment on a workaround.  Fingers crossed, three of my suggestions are "gathering interest."

Managing email through Triage and My Week is novel and much more effective than managing one's work life the typical way, through an email inbox.  Moreover, the ability to assign emails to staff for action/follow up, comment and @ mention staff on emails, and the fact that emails are visible to staff even if they weren't copied on the message facilitates team collaboration and streamlines everyone's work.

Managing client work through Karbon work items, especially being able to create standardized work templates and repeating work, is how our firm stays organized.  We've recently integrated timekeeping in Karbon (through an integration with QuickBooks Time) and are now using Karbon to manage our project budgets.  Our next steps are to begin managing our firm's capacity using Karbon.

Where Karbon particularly excels is in the integration with other key apps.  Our tech stack includes Ignition (proposals) and QuickBooks Time (staff time tracking).  When a client signs a proposal, these integrations allow for automated creation of the new client in Karbon & QB Time, automated creation of Karbon work items from templates, and automated setup of related time codes in QB Time.  This results in significant time savings and allows us to focus on the more meaningful aspects of client onboarding to enhance the client experience.

Karbon has a vibrant user community, and they regularly provide helpful content for accounting practitioners in the form of blog posts/email newsletters and engaging webinars.  Many of our staff enjoy scouring the Karbon Community site for past webinars on topics relevant to our firm and share them across our firm.

Lastly, I'm amazed at how regularly Karbon updates/upgrades the software and adds new functionality.  They listen to their users' requests - users can suggest enhanced features and vote on others' suggestions).  This tool keeps getting better each year.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

Karbon doesn't do email signatures well - we use CodeTwo as a simple and inexpensive way to get around this.

Karbon's calendar functionality is limited, so we still use Outlook to manage our calendars.

There isn't currently a way to have an assistant manage your Triage on your behalf i.e. delegate access like you'd find in Outlook.

We have put in several enhancement requests - to better customize views in My Week, date formatting in repeating work items, etc.  None of these are reasons not to use Karbon, but they are tweaks that would make working in Karbon even more delightful.

Karbon helps us standardize our workflows, keep track of ownership and status of client deliverables, manage our budgets for client deliverables, and use email more effectively.

The most helpful thing regarding karbon is we can access all of our tasks, deadlines, and emails very quickly and easily. Comparatively, this product is better than other products available.

**What do you dislike about Karbon?**

There is nothing to dislike about karbon. The only issue I have faced is forwarding the emails from the timeline. There should be an option available where we can forward emails directly from the timeline.

Client contact information.  It is terrible! We actually link a Notion page because we can't get the information in Karbon in a useful way.

**What problems is Karbon solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When used properly anyone on our team can pick up a piece of work and move forward.  I run a lot of reports to keep on top of workflow and Karbon allows me to run the reports that I need.
