We retained Johanson Group at the very beginning of our pursuit, and used Drata to help manage our controls. Johanson Group was by our side through the entire journey, answering compliance questions that helped us understand the process and all that was needed. When we finally became 100% compliant, it was super easy to request Johanson Group perform our audit. Most of the evidence they needed came from what we had stored in Drata, and the extra information Johanson requested was simple to obtain and submit. The audit did not take as long as anticipated, and the quality of Johanson's work gave us confidence our policies, controls, and practices were effective. After earning our SOC2 Type 1 attestation, Johanson provided materials to help us announce and market our achievement. A few issues came up during the audit process: 1) Timelines were missed. During the vendor selection process we were communicated a 4 week audit window. Our audit window was ultimately ~10 weeks. Our team was on top of our minimal action items as quickly as would reasonably be possible. 2) Timelines were communicated inconsistently during the project. Upon asking for a revised timeline, and interim step timelines, such timelines were also missed. Steps that we were told would take 2 days would take a week, etc. It was difficult to feel comfortable that work was getting done. 3) Lack of sense of urgency from the auditor. Our team was working against external deadlines, which we communicated to the Johanson team up front. Despite continusouly missing deadlines, the Johanson group did not appear to share in the sense of urgency. 4) Lack of quality control. The drafting process required our team to drive simple quality control (e.g., spelling, grammar, etc.). The work from our side was not significant, but the lack of quality was not confidence-inspiring. **Recommendations to others considering Johanson Group:** Consider whether the auditor can meet your specified timeline **What problems is Johanson Group solving and how is that benefiting you?** We engaged with the Johanson Group to complete our SOC 2 Type 1 report.
