## Jellyfish Reviews
  ### 1. Metrics aggregator delivering fantastic analytics across engineering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Goran P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish allows me to gain insight into my team and organization from many perspectives with ease. I can see how my team aligns with our stated initiatives and where we are experiencing creep.

I can even provide insight and effective feedback at an individual level with the benchmarking tools as well as monitoring change over time.

With the forecasting tools it also helps in my planning and ability to foresee issues with capacity or over-comittment.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The tool can be a bit jarring when first entering. It would be nice if the experience could be tailored to a particular role to start, and allow for customization as you familiarize yourself with the wide set of features.

I also think there are just some nice features missing -- things like marking non-work days, or allowing you to mark when a particular person is OOO. Right now it is unclear if these events affect metrics inside the app.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Engineering alignment to our stated goals and initiatives
- Providing constructive feedback to individual engineers, as well as the whole team
- Tracking org-wide initiatives

  ### 2. Actually a pretty good tool that helps presenting insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrei P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Combines Jira data with Git information that is easy to get to and action. I think presenting this information makes it much easier to the C level execs. This also helps during retrospectives and planning for the future. It's easy to deploy and get going as well.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Ease of use also means that the customizability isn't quite there and it's hard to accomplish some tasks. Though the biggest issue is in the nature of the tool itself. It's good at presenting numbers which creates a want/need to chase better numbers, regardless of how that's manifested in the real world. This isn't quite the tool's fault per se, but it's easy to create a situation where less work is being accomplished but the charts look good so the goals are 'met'!

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us solve the retrospective and goal setting issues and presenting the status and progress to upper management

  ### 3. Aggregate analytics in a few clicks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish gives me immediate insight into how my team is doing, with line-level detail at a click of a button. It's also interesting to see the benchmarked data of any group against any group; team against company, company against external companies, team members against the team, etc.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The user experience is a bit jarring, depending on the platform user. For an executive, it's easy to see data for the entire organization. However, for an engineering manager, the default view is too macro. I want to default to my team on practically every page, but the default is always too large. I'd also prefer to dig into the configuration myself with the settings entirely at my disposal, such as what I have access to (self-service). Finally, finding what I'm looking for is difficult—I know the data is in the platform, but where? I'm not sure.

I want a dashboard to drill into the current team's metrics or velocity, with a metric that suggests whether a team member is being overworked and needs work to be spread out. LinearB, a competing product, has a dashboard like this.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aggregate insights into development cycle metrics. Communicating our engineering value. Focusing on what's important and digging into where our time is being spent.

  ### 4. Fantastic tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Tracking deliverables and viewing scope creep or off-target dates is fantastic for keeping on top of goals
Team health metrics like predictability and speed are an excellent way for us to support teams in achieving velocity and flow.
Life cycle explorer has helped us identify and remove bottlenecks in our processes.
Customizable views and dashboards help us keep focused on what's most important to us
Financial reporting has been a game changer for our finance teams to easily understand capitalizable R&D work
Very responsive support team who resolves bugs and configuration requests quickly
Customer Success team are knowledgable, responsive and continuously support optimizing value

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish has industry and company benchmarks but you can't set custom targets - would love to be able to have target metrics

No system performance metrics (eg. RUM, Downtime, Sev1 incidents) or product usage metrics which can tend to make the metrics output rather than outcomes focused. Ideally would be able to integrate with DataDog.

Unable to report on all deliverables - you can only view those in progress or complete - which makes it challenging to report on all quarterly goals (including those note yet started) for example.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identify and resolve process bottlenecks, increase speed of delivery, track deliverables & identify risks, improve sprint predictability & completion, financial reporting

  ### 5. Great tool for tracking metrics and KPIs for the Engineering Organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish provides a great aggregate view to get insights for the organization or specific teams based on data in Jira and source code repository. The UI is simple and intuitive, and the customer success rep is great in terms of providing support and resolving issues. I consistently use Jellyfish to track progress of Initiatives, and also report KPIs to executives on a monthly basis. The DevFinOps module is a significant timesaver for doing software capitalization reports for the finance team.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There could be more self-service support in the product, for example the ability to save deliverable views. The DevOps Also would be good to have an API to pull information into other tools. The DevOps metrics were a bit cludgy to set up, and didn't work well, so we're not using those.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish helps us:
* Track progress of development work
* Understand allocation for new features work vs bugfixes vs tech debt/infra
* Generate reports for the Finance team for software capitalization

  ### 6. Great Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Great way to get insights into an organisation, drilling down to a per team/per user view on demand and view, all based on GitHub/Jira. It is very helpful to track how the company is performing, but also drill down and see what the teams are working on and where we can improve.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There is a lot of configuration to be done before you're able to get meaningful data, and depending on what you're looking for, it can be difficult to get to the place where you'll get the data you want.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish takes & analyze data from various sources (such as GitHub or Jira), and aggregates & process in a way that makes it easy to see how the company/teams/individuals are performing and what they're working on, something that would be much harder to understand otherwise.

  ### 7. Outstanding Metrics!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The most helpful option so far has been around PR metrics. Having the ability to identify time to completion as well as quality of review has been very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I do not disklike anything particular. The only area I would like to see a little more granularity is around calendars. Seeing an ICs time spent on calendar events would be beneficial in cases time boxing needs to be discussed.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps identify team cohesion, communication and performance gaps and then confirm with metrics when they have been corrected.

  ### 8. Good Product, still has improvements to make

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish has a great UI for viewing aggregated Jira data.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There are still some naiveties in it's implementation. For example, if an engineer starts a jira task on the first of the month, then goes on vacation for the rest of the month, Jellyfish considers that engineer to have been working on the task all month. The engineer is then allocated for 8 hours a day for 30 days to that one Jira ticket, creating some weird data.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish helps us to give insight in our teams' performance to our leadership

  ### 9. Jellyfish- Streamlining Cost Cap Process, Tracking Deliverables, and Promoting Team Health

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lulu S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I am thrilled to share my positive experience with Jellyfish, a remarkable tool that has greatly benefitted our company. This review highlights its outstanding features, including automating the cost cap process, facilitating deliverable project tracking, providing high-level allowance visibility, and fostering team health.

One of the standout features of Jellyfish is its ability to automate the cost cap process. This feature has revolutionized our financial management, saving us valuable time and effort. With Jellyfish, we can easily set and monitor cost caps, ensuring we stay within budgetary constraints while minimizing manual intervention. This automation has streamlined our financial operations and empowered us to make more informed decisions.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

One area where users have expressed a desire for improvement is the flexibility and customization options for certain newly created features, particularly in regard to life cycle management.
Another feature that users have expressed interest in is the inclusion of meaning and suggested action items behind each numerical data point in Jellyfish.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking project deliverables is a breeze with Jellyfish. The tool offers a comprehensive and intuitive interface, allowing us to monitor the progress of various projects in real-time. It provides a clear overview of milestones, tasks, and deadlines, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks. With Jellyfish, we can identify bottlenecks and address them promptly, enabling us to deliver projects on time and with exceptional quality.

  ### 10. Jellyfish is a powerful tool for Engineering team insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish (JF) gives you a LOT of data and insights into your teams. While much of this data is available in source tools like Jira or Github, JF makes it very easy to get aggregated information, extrapolations, and insights gleaned from their algorithms and combined metrics. We also use the Cost Capitalization module which is game-changing for our Engineering teams. We get most of the Cost Capitalization data/reports for "free." The Cost Capitalization module has meant our Fiance teams don't need to bother Engineering teams to get Cost Capitalization data (time spent on projects, etc), respond to audits, etc.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Not a dislike, but an acknowledgment of "garbage in, garbage out". For JF to become useful, your team's processes and data practices need to be clean. If Jira data is incomplete, Jira or Github practices spotty or inconsistent, then the information in JF will be poor. A powerful effect of adopting JF has been a concerted effort to clean up our data and processes. It can't be understated the amplification effect in JF if your source data in Jira nd Github are poor. While it's been a heavy lift to clean up data/processes, it's been a significant benefit across our Engineering teams that extends well beyond just JF.

One challenge in JF itself is its learning curve. It can be a complex product and requires commitment and consistent adoption to see value. But if you're willing to work to clean data and learn the ins and outs of the tool, it is very powerful and valuable. More/better training resources and some UX changes could make it more intuitive and easy to pick up quickly.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish (JF) provides a lot of easy to see metrics and insights that used to take us a lot of time, forensics, data processing to get before JF. It's difficult to quantify Engineering effectiveness. There is no single metric, piece of data, or silver bullet to tell you how an Engineering team is doing and if it's effective, productive, or healthy. Where are teams feeling pain? Do we have bottlenecks? Are we being efficient? These are notoriously difficult not only to measure but to interpret and act upon. JF's super power is giving us fast, easy access to a lot of data points that let's us spot trends -- but then has the ability to double click and drill into areas we have questions.

  ### 11. Good for project projections

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lilli N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Scenario planner is a game changer, and I like the ability to star projects

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Can't always get all the details/data I would like. I also don't find the weekly email updates helpful.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish helps my team see the work remaining to deliver a feature, and the direct factors contributing to the estimated delivery date.

  ### 12. Metrics across all of engineering at a glance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katherine V. | Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I can quickly and easily see where my team spends our time (new product development vs. technical debt vs. support work) and help ensure it aligns with our organization goals. Following a sprint where we over-invested in one area, I can suggest work items to balance it out in the next sprint. I can also quickly see how the scope changed during a sprint to help gauge the accuracy of our planning and look for trends with becoming less or more efficient in planning and handling disruptions. I also like that Jellyfish allows me to review my team's work output (and my output) to see how it compares within the department. It can be beneficial when it's time to perform an end-of-year performance review to identify trends and improvements for myself or others. Within the organization, we also have a way to report bugs directly to Jellyfish within a slack channel and support has been very responsive.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I don't have any particular dislikes. There are some features that leadership would like to have which are not currently available (such as a quarterly toggle only available for Company investment allocations). Still, Jellyfish already has work planned for some of this and is continuously improving.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish is helping our leadership members assess if where we spend our time aligns with our larger departmental and company goals. It is also helping to track if we are hitting our milestones and release dates with roadmap product work and technical initiatives. Jellyfish also provides proactive support to help us ensure our metrics are set up exactly how we need them.

  ### 13. Provides visibility and insights team by team into the investments made and work being done

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I can quickly see where teams are investing their time and energy in times of projects and in terms of value. I have the ability to talk to any product manager on my team and ask why we are making “this investment”. I can identify what teams need help with which aspects in the development process. We can have meaningful conversations about which investments are too big or when the “Works in Progress” load gets too high. As engineering and product leaders, we can collaborate to understand which teams need more coaching regarding their development practices. And best of all, I can quickly and easily provide clarity to the rest of the executive team and the board about where our bandwidth is being used. Simply put, it allows me to focus on the strategy and the people rather than the administration.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There’s not really anything that I “dislike”. Like any tool, there are things I want to do with it that are just not completely built out, but those things tend to be stylistic like colors and ordering on graphs and charts. However, for anyone that is thinking about Jellyfish, understand that there is an investment that needs to be made in understanding the product, evaluating how you operate Jira, and determining how to make those work together. The team at Jellyfish has been great, but there’s a certain level of understanding you need to have to partner with the team to get it set up to be effective for you.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the visibility into project work. It helps me talk with product managers about the size of the investment relative to the value that we get from the investment. It helps me collaborate with our engineering leaders to understand where teams need additional support to be successful. It helps me explain to the organization where the team is investing their time and energy at a holistic level, which helps the conversation about what we can take on in terms of new initiatives and in what timeframes.

  ### 14. Great service to track your team performance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ze'ev V. | Senior manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

With a few clicks, you can find a wealth of information about your team members and get deep insights into their productivity. The insights are coming from different angles; you can see team members' code-writing productivity and collaboration efforts as it translates into PR reviews, etc.

It is important to note that, given the depth of the information, it is not easy to manipulate the results!
This is of course shouldn't not be the only way you evaluate your team members, but it gives quantitative results which can be super helpful.

Also, the support from the Jellyfish team is just amazing

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

It is hard for me to get a good snapshot at the team level, but that might be due to how we are organized.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting quentative info about my team members, and help in manging team velocity.

  ### 15. A useful addition to our Scrum Master toolkit

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noelle H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish has been a useful addition to our Scrum Master toolkit. It has contributed to improving our team's agility and productivity, and I would recommend it to fellow Scrum Masters looking for a tool to streamline agile processes.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

It can sometimes be difficult to narrow down to exactly what you are looking for and it breaks down velocity by week as opposed to just giving the full month.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish makes it easier to pull information which means less time on filling out spreadsheets.

  ### 16. Insightful for Directors and Managers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael S. | Director of Engineering / Ruby Lead Software Engineer in Internal Tooling, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

As someone sitting in Director of Engineering role, Jellyfish gives me insightful data about my teams. On a weekly basis, I can identify patterns across teams in a way that I can start brainstorming experiments to address issues and reduce risk.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

My company uses Jellyfish data to present the "state of engineering" on team level and department level every month. As part of that, we take screenshots from charts in Jellyfish. That is a really timeconsuming process, and would be great if Jellyfish had a "presenter mode" that allows us to choose widgets with charts that we want to present.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's really the only tool that I know that gives me overview data that matters about my teams in the engineering department. Without Jellyfish, I'd have to running all sorts of complex queries in Jira, which means that I'd just not do it consistently because it's too time-consuming.

  ### 17. Improved Visibility and Insights

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Time to value with Jellyfish is pretty fast. We were getting better insights into our processes within the first couple of days of turning on the connection, and it's only improved as we've added more data and addressed some data hygiene issues. I like how it's easy to see what areas the teams are investing in, what initiatives are in flight, and how groups are doing or which ones might need help.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The lack of self-service configuration can be a point of friction as you're tuning your processes. They are working on it though, and have already added some capabilities that weren't there when we first started.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping us align teams with company goals and helping us continually improve on team processes for development and delivery.

  ### 18. Useful insights, deep dive into data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francisco M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I really like how data is summarized, and how you can deep dive into the details of it. This is pretty helpful for the managers, peers and even for my self; this helps on planning, tracking execution and performance.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

At first looked a bit overwhelming, but it's really easy to navigate and learn how to use everything.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of planned things and how they got executed; and personally, measure efficiency as well as the work done.

  ### 19. Driving Business Alignment and transformational change within Engineering

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean H. | Fractional CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

All companies face several engineering challenges, with most having a root cause of 'lack of alignment'. As a CTO/CIO, we must align investments and see ROI. JellyFish has been instrumental in understanding our investment distribution and allocating team members to products. We've seen an immediate impact with alignment (are we indeed focused on Roadmap/Innovation, or is the reality "KTLO/Bugs"). Additionally, the new scenario planner will help support tactical strategies to remediate late Epics (projects). We've improved Speed, Processes, Productivity, and Collaboration.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Nothing yet; however, one feature we'd like to see is scenario-based benchmarks to drive high-level organizational goals (OKRs with baseline metrics).

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We strategically staffed a product and aligned expectations using the investment distribution. This has helped reduce operating budgets and level-set expectations with business partners (product management + executive leadership). Additionally, we can focus on behaviors/actions that generate value.

  ### 20. Discovering the world of JellyFish

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Camila Natalia P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

It is a new tool for me. We are looking for new ways to measure information to obtain better results and make better decisions and that is how we discovered JellyFish as an innovative proposal that facilitates information management and provides innovative solutions to problems that as a company we did not even think were so relevant. I think it is a very useful tool full of attractive features for the business

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Beyond finding something that I don't like, I think that something that can be improved is the accessibility to courses and training to learn how the tool works. It would be very useful to have a small certification in the use of JellyFish

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manage information and translate it into a friendlier environment. Incorporate the tool with the new developments that the company has to analyze the impact. We are starting to use it :)

  ### 21. A single platform for solving many complex tasks, from tracking project execution to cost allocation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander Z. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

A lot of tools work out of the box and many new valuable features were added during a short period.
A lot of metrics help to have confidence in resource allocation, progress, team performance, and health.
Great support with the desire to solve all business-specific requests.
Jellyfish is the must-have tool for planning, review, 1-1, and performance assessment in our company.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

As a source of metrics, i'd like to have API to pull these metrics to internal BI to merge with business and HR metrics.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Measurement of time and cost allocation, delivery progress, team and individual performance, and team health.
Jellyfish helps to align business goals and real allocation of engineering resources.
To show allocation from different angles - teams, investment categories, and business units.

  ### 22. Love JellyFish !!! Super productive & intuitive tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pratibha X. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

It is a very modern tool and understands to the core the pain points of measuring output and have an awesome solution. It overcomes most of the challenges I faced when I used Jira reports. It is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Faster roll-out of features and many more intergration

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

JellyFish touches and consider all the activities the team do and its integration with github/Jira and other apps is most benefial for me

  ### 23. Great experience all around

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The support team is amazing! We've brought up issues we're seeing and they've rolled out fixes in the same day.

The metrics Jellyfish provides are fantastic. It helps us determine areas of improvement, focus on pain points, and measure the effects of changes we've implemented. This kind of visibility is supremely useful as we try to balance our efforts between features, bugs, and technical changes.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

While I was not personally involved in this part of the setup, the overhead and organization needed to get Jellyfish up and running is not insignificant. It's very important to get it right. Garbage in leads to garbage out.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish provides a one stop shop to see and investigate cycle times, allocation of work, individual and team productivity stats, sprint metrics, and epic progress.

  ### 24. Nice overview of data from multiple sources

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Being able to see, for my team, the breakdown of time on epics, time by individuals on certain tasks is really handy. The high level overview of issues by type also makes it quick to see what's going on at a glance.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

One of the challenges as a team manager is the lack of detailed information on the signals Jellyfish uses to drive some of the reports. The signals are great as it combines information from a variety of sources however not knowing clearly what they are adds an area of doubt to the reporting.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping to expose data from many locations and centralise reporting efforts.

  ### 25. Best Engineering analytics product I've used

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryce C. | Senior Vice President Of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

* Great single-pane-of-glass for project management and source code management insights.
* We can customize it to meet our needs
* Insights compared to competitors are much more authentic (you know what you're looking at, whereas, with competitors, you get a metric and are not quite sure how it's being computed).
* Customer enablement is very hands-on and shows commitment from the company to create value for their customers.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

* Some data is hard to find (I end up clicking through a path that's indirect to get access to what I'm looking for)
* Sprint insights, in particular, is very buried and don't roll-up to the entire organization from the team level
* DevOps / DORA metrics are limited and non-standard and require more customization than I'd like.
* There is no ability to push reports out via email/slack at a regular basis - I have to actively come back into the product to get what I need.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish helps me understand how the Engineering department is spending time. This can be broken down by individual, team, or entire department. This creates actionable insights into whether our quality is sufficient (are we spending a lot of time fixing bugs) or whether our focus on generating customer value is enough (are we spending enough time on the product roadmap). Seeing this broken down by team makes the insights helpful at all levels of management.

  ### 26. All the Bells and Whistles; Encourages one to Play Music

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Once things are set up, Jellyfish hums along. There are direct links out to the external systems of record, allowing one to validate or drill down when needed. Visualization exist for data which wasn't easily visualized before.

I used to check in somewaht infrequently (a few times a month), but as I got more comfortable with all the moving parts - found that I would look into something at least weekly, and for longer periods of time.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There is a steep leaning curve, which seems inevitable given the complexity of what Jellyfish aims to do. I wasn't involved in wiring everything up, but have heard it's non-trivial as well.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Get a better understanding of developer productivity across a variety of metrics. This allows ofr more targeted policies and initiatives, as well as individual help when needed.

  ### 27. Real Time Ops and Post Incident Review Game Changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Really easy to use with a plethora of useful features. It was easy to integrate Jellyfish with our existing processes and then expand on them.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

As soon as I find something I'm unhappy with I'll realy out and let support know. So far its been smooth sailing.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Capturing the impact of production issues and performance trends over time.

  ### 28. Improved Productivity, Metrics with Jellyfish

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Salil Surendra S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

It is an excellent tool for self-reflecting on your progress in Sprints while also allowing you to see how your peers and the organization handle the workload in the sprints.

What helps is the visualization of these metrics.

Having the ability to have weekly and monthly comparisons can help the team/organization identify the projects that need more focus and also recognize other projects which are setting the benchmark.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The metrics do not consider the complexity of the some of the tasks.

Eg. When considering JIRA tickets, Github Pull Requests related metrics, the metrics tell us the turn around time, number of commits etc. but the values for any of these metrics are dependent on other factors i.e in case of JIRA, the ticket may have more dependencies which increase the turn around time.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looking at JIRA sprint wise breakdown, help improve dev. productivity across the team.

  ### 29. Actionable dashboards, hassle-free setup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ravi B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish was the clear winner during our due diligence process for onboarding an engineering analytics tool. Jellyfish's insights provided immediate value, enabling our engineering teams to make informed adjustments from day one. We've incorporated some of Jellyfish's metrics in our sprint reviews and while making data-driven decisions. Currently considering using Jellyfish's DevFinOps features for a more accurate and repeatable software cost capitalization process.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Some of these may be future improvements already in the pipeline. It's tricky to switch to a sprint cadence view instead of a monthly or a quarterly view. This approach probably makes sense because Jellyfish's primary users are executives and engineering leaders. Occasionally, it's tricky to understand if a particular metric has Jellyfish's secret sauce calculations or if it's verbatim from Jira / GitHub.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a better understanding of engineering effort allocations across single or multiple projects. We are getting better at sprint and OKR level predictability by using metrics like sprint churn, cycle time, issue lifecycle, etc.

  ### 30. Jellyfish: A must for Engineering leaders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian C. | Director Of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish provides me invaluable insight into the productivity and quality of my team's delivery. I can view GitHub commit patterns, predict when I'll deliver important features, and see how my team performs in accordance with DORA (DevOps) metrics. The Jellyfish team is responsive and continually iterating on their product.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I would like to see continued investment in their DevOps tooling. They have made good progress but still have a few ways to go regarding specific branching strategies.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish provides me with insights into the development trends of my engineering team. I am able to spot performance gaps and leading indicators that I have not been able to see in the past.

  ### 31. The Power of Data Visualization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

* Seamless integration with Jira and GitHub.
* Good set of metrics.
* Good visualization of metrics.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

* Dashboard loading takes a long time.
* Some feature are experimental (lab).

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* See the development team's productivity visually.
* See the type of development tasks visually.
* Visualize inefficiencies.
* Make data-driven decisions.

  ### 32. Still Learning to use it

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

SSO seems to work well. I've only ever logged in a few times.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I don't really feel compelled to use it as an engineering manager for an internal team. I don't have so many direct reports that I don't have a good idea of what they are working on and how things or going, so for me, I don't really see how Jellyfish helps me. Maybe thats the fact that I missed the training though...

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think this product is more for product-facing engineering team who have more developers and where insights might be harder to glean because the teams are larger. I don't really have any problems with our team or their efficiency that I don't think I cant solve or understand by simply talking to my team directly.

  ### 33. Give me more Jellyfish!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The three things I like most about Jellyfish are:
1. The views of investment allocation, and the ease of seeing these by product vertical, by organization, etc.
2. The almost "click a single button" ability to see how any individual is doing. This is super helpful when integrating new team members.
3. The life cycle metrics. Such a pain to get out of Jira, and SO helpful for interpreting some of the other metrics, being able to tell a full story.

Also, their customer support is AMAZING!

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I'm not sure there is anything I dislike about Jellyfish, but there are a couple things I wish they did more/better.
1. DORA metrics. The integrations are not great at the moment.
2. I wish I could have multiple saved dashboard views

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Efficiency and alignment.

  ### 34. Powerful Insights to Guide Decision Making

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I have been using Jellyfish now for several years. It opens up a plethora of insights that had historically been difficult to compile. This information unlocks much more powerful decision making capabilities. My teams use it to retrospect and make continuous improvements. The deliverables views also deliver as close to ground truth as possible on the status of your company initiatives. All around great product.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Any time I have an issue or feature request the Jellyfish team is very responsive. They are continuously delivering new and powerful features. Most recently my teams have benefitted from the new Life Cycle feature. It provides great, actionable detail into the software development lifecycle.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Jellyfish to confirm our actual work allocation is in line with company objectives, our teams use the team-based metrics for retrospectives and reviews, and we use the deliverables views for ground truth on the status of our key company initiatives.

  ### 35. Software Capitalization Campion

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The platform's ease of use, simplicity and smoothness and the only platform I have used that does software capitalization cost really well.
From an accounting point of view, managing projects in JIRA while trying to assign engineer costs to each project accurately has been a headache. Jellyfish has been a breath of fresh air. It takes away all the formulas and spreadsheet work of tracking time/cost and has helped improve our team's efficiency, allowing us to report accurate monthly costs.
Customer support has been very impressive as well as timely releases of platform improvements and updates!

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

While the platform becomes better, I think a better/automated way to capture employee compensation and add new employees to the system would improve the overall user experience.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish is solving the way we calculate software capitalization cost without the use of timesheets. Having the platform do all the calculations for us frees time and allows management to focus on other importing problems.

  ### 36. An amazing tool to drive alignment and continuous improvement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oussama M. | Software Development Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I have used jellyfish for more than a year and a half. Over time, the platform has consistently exceeded expectations, providing valuable insights, fostering autonomy, and ensuring alignment with business goals. It has become an indispensable tool for driving high performance in engineering teams.

Jellyfish's operational metrics feature is a game-changer, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. It empowers teams to back discussions with factual data, driving positive change and constant improvement.

Jellyfish excels at aligning engineering efforts with business priorities. Communicating key metrics to stakeholders ensures a focused approach that contributes to product strategy and company direction.

Jellyfish's user-friendly interface and customizable reporting enhance effective communication. It's a pleasure to navigate, providing access to the information we need.

In summary, Jellyfish is a transformative tool for engineering teams. With evolving features, it continuously adds value, offering insights, autonomy, and alignment. As a long-term user, I wholeheartedly recommend Jellyfish for organizations seeking to excel and evolve their engineering teams.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

While Jellyfish constantly evolve to add more value, one area could use improvement. Occasionally, the graph's color palette changes between versions without any apparent reason. This inconsistency can be a bit confusing and disrupt the user experience. It would be beneficial if the color scheme remained consistent to provide a more cohesive and familiar interface.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Jellyfish's operational metrics feature provides valuable insights into team performance, addressing the problem of making decisions based sentiments
- it empowers engineering teams by providing tools for tracking and analyzing metrics, allowing them to take ownership of their work and make more autonomous decisions.
- Jellyfish also helps on the alignment side. it makes the engineering efforts visible, and we can see if they align with the business goals.

  ### 37. Clear information on engineering team spent time for different projects or maintenance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicolas M. | Principal Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The main goal is accomplished: providing view on the time spent by engineering between the different projects and especially the balance between new features and support/maintenance.
We've been able in a year to categorize almost all of time to a specific project or to support and KTLO (Keep The Lights On) and that's really helpful to see how much time this support to customer or maintenance and technical debt included in KTLO are representing.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The setup and the repetitive tasks of taking screenshots could be improved.
Obviously the data needs to be accurate as well and that takes a lot of time but this part is not specific to Jellyfish.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding the balance between time spent on new features and on support and maintenance. It helped us allocating better engineering resources and finding out where there were maybe too much customer issues impacting the engineering to develop new features.

  ### 38. Valuable Sprints View for Scrum Master Coaching Teams

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

As a Scrum Master I use the Sprints View to review with my teams how our Velocity is trending. This view is more detailed than what Jira provides.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I personally would appreciate views/dashboards by role in Jellyfish, for example I'm a Scrum Master and there is information I want to review with the team as a whole, but have to be careful about how the data is seen/portrayed as to not offend or cause alarms around being micro managed.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish has been a great way for us to encourage Jira & Github hygiene

  ### 39. Insightful & Powerful tool for self and management

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rahul A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Excellent ability to get the details about project allocation/work for self & the team, which is very easy for management to track.
Its integration with JIRA, Bitbucket, Github and other engineering tools provides the ability to get the details about both deep and high-level work.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I feel that Metrics are not appropriately used, they can be easily abused.
It would be great if there would be some metrics in future added in jellyfish for Code commits.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration with JIRA and other tools makes the job easier to track down day-to-day tasks and helps in improving the productivity by selecting important task/ work on priority basis.

  ### 40. My experience with Jellyfish has been very pleasant.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

The visualization aspect of project management is amazing. It is super easy to use and implement. The support is great and very responsive. It provides countless features that will make any team productive. Our teams use it daily for planning and managing work and it is great that it is easily integrated in Jira.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I have not encountered anything that I didn't like about Jellyfish yet.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It help with data driven decision making. It helps us prioritize and allocate resources to tackle any task.

  ### 41. VP of Engineering

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Everything is clickable! I can quickly drill down from high-level executive summary views into the details. This allows me to better understand the signals I'm seeing, and quickly garner actionable insights (eg, whether or not I need to realign focus in am area and which team or individual to check in with, fix the way an epic is categorized, check in on a project that is projected to miss target date, etc).

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There is a learning curve. It was overwhelming at first, even with the awesome support from the customer success and implementation team.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Dev allocation, cost reporting, and focus - we used to do these manually every month. It was labor intensive and error prone. And it was a very lagging indicator. Jellyfish does this all automatically for us in near real time. Now we not only benefit from automated allocation reporting on canddnces for quarterly business reviews, financial audits against P&L, and board-level reporting. We also benefit from real time view into where the efforts are going. This helps us ensure our teams are focused on the right things and quickly course correct rather than waiting for lagging indicators like missed deadlines or monthly manual reports.

2. Project management- the project and initiative view allows us to see in one screen how a project is going, what work is scoped vs active, and what the FTE effort/focus has been over time. It also projects target completion date. This has allowed us to easily see and show when there is scope creep, too little capacity, etc. It also shows the cost for the given project or initiative which is hugely helpful in calculating the investment portion of ROI.

3. Manager insights - our Engineering Managers have benefited from viewing their team activity. They use this information to catch unspoken blockers, influx of unplanned work, and metrics around productivity, quality, etc. We are still evolving how EMs use it but so far we have already garnered many usable insights.

4. Operational tuning - we are just getting our feet wet here but the team and org-level metrics are a powerful way for us to see how we are operating and areas for tuning. It is especially helpful that we can see our metrics compared to industry metrics, as well as an individual team's metrics against our Engineering-wide metrics.

  ### 42. A great tool to help measure productivity and roadblocks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fredy Alexander B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jelyfish provides a detailed amount of information regarding teams efficiency when integrated with Jira and Github. It makes it easy to see at first glance which intiative is being worked on and their ETA.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I would like for Jellyfish to have a Outlook integration so I'm able to see the time spent in meetings. Currently the platform only supports the integration with Google Calendar.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a business, we want to know measure our predictability, the pourcentage or unplanned work and team's collaboration between squads and within other initiatives. Jellyfish solves that by providing analytics and insights.

  ### 43. Nice tool to get quick insights

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aliaksandr S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

This tool really helps to quickly get an impression on how things are going on. It's really easy to combine with JIRA and git.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

It takes some time to configure properly according to your processes

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It speeds up performance review process.

  ### 44. Engineering metrics at a glance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish can provide valuable insights into how the company is performing at a high level, then allows me to drill down to the team level and see where we can improve from a day-to-day level.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

As a new user of Jellyfish, the amount of data and information presented can be overwhelming. It takes some time to digest as it's not very intuitive. It would also be nice if the metrics could be broken down by sprints (and not just the generic month or quarters).

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's difficult to quantify "how is your team performing?" and here's where Jellyfish comes in - providing metrics that the team can look upon as success metrics, then backing this up by collecting all of these data behind the scenes.

  ### 45. Insight in your team, department and organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish brings the data from our most common development tools together and creates multiple different perspectives that allow us to monitor our operation. It aggregates from users, to teams, to departments, to organization, giving insights on any level we want.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

There is a fast amount of configuration possible. Not all of them are self-servicable (yet).

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing teams to improve is hard, but it becomes easier if it can be data driven. Jellyfish gives our team insight in the metrics we value as an organization.

  ### 46. Great tool for data insights

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Derek H. | Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Getting data about delivery and team performance is made very easy and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

I'd like a little more control over some of the charts

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need ongoing information about my teams performance. Jellyfish provides that for me.

  ### 47. Nice to have some visibility on team performance metrics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I like that I can see my team's metrics and compare them to other teams within the organization or even benchmarked against the industry.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Based upon how administrators configure Jellyfish to consume data from datasources like Jira, Confluence, and GitHub it can be confusing what any given metrics means at any given time.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps my team track various performance trends over time to get a sense if we are improving or not.

  ### 48. Great insights for Engineering Teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

Great unified metrics! I don't have to go to individual sources like JIRA and Github, too see how i'm doing

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

The interface is not that intuitive, took me time to find what i need to see. As an individual contributor, I mostly care about my own metrics, it should be something i see in the landing page as soon as i login.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows me to be aware of my velocity,

  ### 49. 1 year using JellyFish

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lou M. | Director, Core Algorithms Delivery, Product Development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Jellyfish?**

I oversee four development teams. We use JellyFish to determine how well execution matches plans. JellyFish reduces my workload to answer the basic questions such as whos is working on what and how much effort was expended.

**What do you dislike about Jellyfish?**

Jellyfish is cumbersome when trying to slice data by activity type or by team (organization.

**What problems is Jellyfish solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jellyfish enables me to determine how much effort was expended on each lifecycle activity. e.g. feature development versus bug fixing

  ### 50. Great onboarding experience
