What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

JAMF Pro is a feature-rich software tool that is easy to use. In addition, JAMF Pro updates are released before Apple releases software upgrades. It's great to have support in JAMF for Apple's new features before they are released. This allows us to identify and test the impact of new features and prepare ahead of an upgrade. Finally, their customer support is the best of any software company I've worked with! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

Nothing! I haven't had a bad experience with Jamf Pro, or Jamf Software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Jamf Pro:

Compare the other vendors who have similar products and choose the one that will best suit your needs. However, you will not find a better Mac Management tool on the market or a company with better customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our school district is using iPads for our 1:1 program. Each student has an iPad, every teacher has an iPad and MacBook, and every classroom has and Apple TV; all managed with Jamf Pro. This equates to over 15,000 devices we manage. We have one Jamf administrator who can manage all of these devices using JAMF Pro effectively and in a timely manner. Without JAMF Pro we wouldn't be able to support our staff and students efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

Jamf Pro has a user friendly interface that is easy to navigate and figure out as a new administrator. I appreciate the simple layout and built in templates that Jamf Pro includes to make configurations easier to create and maintain. I also appreciate the in depth administrator guide they created. It is a great reference manual to learn how to use Jamf and provides an easy way to look up topics as needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

I wish that Jamf Pro would include a way to automatically name devices from within Jamf. Currently, this is a very manual process due to the limitations of options within Jamf in this regard. Would love to see more options for naming both IOS and OS devices. I also wish that the Select All and Deselect ALL buttons in the pre-stage scoping area were either removed or able to be used when filtering the list of devices without it still selecting or unselecting ALL devices. Many users think it will only select the items that have been filtered in the list and is visible, but it actually still selects the entire list, disregarding the filter. This causes confusion and mistakes often by new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Jamf Pro helps us distribute apps to devices over the air as well as being able to set settings to better ensure our devices are secure. We have many remote workers and being able to handle most task over the air is extremely helpful to manage devices that are never physically on campus. We are working toward zero touch deployments and look forward to using Jamf Pro to set this up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

When it comes to JAMF I think the thing I like most is the community. JAMF nation has a vibrant and interactive community of users who are not only excited to use the product but also happy to help with it. Should the time arise when you need support or advice there is someone there for you! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

JAMF Pro is an excellent tool because you are free to create, and in some ways with smart groups only limited by your imagination. At the same time you could be working in a nested series of groups, come up with a great idea, and there's just not a way for you to specify a specific group. I would like more granual smart group control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Probably one the biggest issues JAMF is helping me with is automated device enrollment. Being an all remote company, JAMF really helps streamline the issuing of laptops and helps me get people up and running fast. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

The preferred option I can recommend as a device management solution to deploy for a customer. Small or large amounts of devices, Jamf Pro scales very well.

Easy to maneuver interface. Easy to enroll devices, both using prestage zero touch enrollement, or user enrollment of devices already in use.

Zero touch enrollement leaves all the guesswork out for the end user, leaving more time for productivity within the first hour of turning on the new device or Mac(network speed and amount of software to roll out permitted). End users can get software directly distributed at setup or any time later, which is such a treat for IT used to image computers.

My favorite? SSO Kerberos extension distribution works really great, reducing time spent on logging into various web tools your organization use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

For a novice user, you will want to either set aside quite some time to get to know the interface and advanced options well or bring in someone who does. Otherwise, you'll be left out of the more advanced (read: the best) capabilities of Jamf Pro.

Interface has a lot of space left over if used on a high-resolution screen/fullscreen browser window. On the other side, this also makes the interface less cluttered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

First time setup experience for end users is much better.

Rollout of the mentioned SSO extension solved a lot of login-issues. Time spent helping with end users not being able to do work has dramatically decreased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

As Apple’s device management journey continues to evolve Jamf has been able to be a “swiss army knife” in how it manages devices. The binary and policies for macOS are powerful tools to get things done whatever possible and as Apple moves more into the “MDM bucket” they have evolved and supported that story. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

Sometimes workflows or features that are commonly repeated are not better incorporated into the product. The community in some cases, even Jamf’s own staff, create cool solutions that would be even more powerful within the core product. Even though not everyone will use it (like creating Mac user accounts using payload vs script/package), it lowers the barrier to entry to get a job done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Jamf Pro:

Try it out. You have needs, see if it fits them. No system is perfect but with the right support (aka the jamf community) you will be able to make life easier for IT and end users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

As Jamf Pro can be a bit of a “choose your own adventure” novel, with many pathways to achieve the same thing, I have realised the benefit of not only automating manual tasks, but putting them into repeatable and predictable series of events that’s easy for end users and front line tech staff to understand. Making hard things simple both with and without Jamf Pro Pre-existing has been a joy. The cool thing is it all depends on where an organisation is at, creating a profile to push a WiFi config, vs creating a full automated and reliably repeatable Automated Enrollment workflow for example. What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

I love the amount of customization that Jamf Pro provides, and how, once groups are established, most things just work. Ever since using Apple School Manager along with Jamf, the control we have is extremely granular, hands-off, and applies quickly. When we receive a new computer, we can have it fully set up and ready for the end user in under twenty minutes, with very little work from our techs. Being able to use custom triggers and call those triggers from another script leads to very controlled and predictable workflows. Jamf customer support is fantastic, too. They always respond quickly and teach me how to better use the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

Most of my complaints about Mac management have to do with Apple, not Jamf Pro, such as how it's impossible to remotely allow screen recording for classroom computers.

For Jamf though, the only thing that bothers me is that I can't "push a script" in the same way that I can on Windows. It's a little frustrating to be on the phone with a customer and say, "I've scoped you to a policy that should fix this. Wait fifteen minutes and call me back." "It's been two hours and you still can't work? Oopsie, guess I'll head over in person." I wish there were a management command that triggered a "jamf policy" check. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Almost every aspect of Mac management is covered by Jamf Pro. Remote access and privilege elevation aren't quite there yet, but having so much control over configuration and policies is fantastic. Before Jamf, we couldn't imagine a world where managing Macs was easier than PCs, but now that's a reality. We're deploying Macs quickly and keeping a great user experience. What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

We adopted JamfPro back in 2016 cause we noticed our Apple fleet was growing exponentially. So we needed a platform that allowed easy implementaton and use for a small staff. Jamf has continued to implement new features that makes manging our devices easier and helps integrate them in to our infrastructure. A day doesn't go by that i am not in my Jamf dashboard adding new apps or software to our devices. During the pandemic customer support was vital in moving from our on premises implementation to a cloud hosted solution so that our campus could continue to operate. Since then Jamf Pro has been a vital tool in our IT toolbox. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

I don't have too many complaints regarding Jamf Pro. I do wish for a few user interface features like embeded groups, multi select of policies to apply to a group devices. I also wish you could have groups for policies that could be applied. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

Jamf Pro allows for easy access to all the information needed to keep our work macs up to date with quick groups to know what building users are in and if we have to make any changes to the apps allowed on the computers. I love how easy it is so add new applications and policies and the ease at deploying them. I enjoy being able to test out policies to specific users before deploying to all users. I can easily assign specific access to other members of the team without having to worry about them changing something they shouldn't by accident. Being able to create new policies in a test enviroment prior to releasing it on production is a huge help! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

My gripe with Jamf Pro at the moment is that when you erase a mac and re-image it, it deletes all purchasing info in relation to the mac. I would like the mac to still retain all the data that's been placed in those fields. I'm also having issues where AppleCare information such as purchase date and warrant information doesn't get imported from GSX after integrating it with Jamf Pro. When wiping a Mac using the command in Jamf Pro, the operating system as times does not begin the install and the Mac ends up flashing with the question mark. When troubleshooting remotely, this causes issues as users freak out that their computer has failed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Jamf Pro is helping with push out new security measures and productivity measures across both Macs and iPhones. We recently deployed Self Service for mobile devices to allow users to install important applications without having to login using their personal Apple ID or create a new one with work email. Ontop of this we have several policies in place to make sure users have the latest version of web browsers to combat zero day exploits. I love that I can easily view from my Dashboard all the devices that have the latest policies and those that are a bit behind since it helps me circle back to those users to make they are set rather than having to check in with everyone. What do you like best about Jamf Connect?

Each student can sit down at any computer running Jamf Connect and log on with their Entra ID credentials. It will create a local account for the student if one doesn't yet exist, and then sync their Entra ID password with the local account. The just-in-time account creation makes this product perfect in lab enviornments where you do not know ahead of time who will need to log onto the computer.

Another awesome feature is the ability to customize the login window completely. You can create a polished, professional, branded login window that really looks good. It's awesome to have the school's name and logo right there where everyone logs on.

Jamf provides a great utility to help you implement the product. It's very easy, especially if you also use Jamf Pro! If you don't have Entra ID, it can integrate with other identity providers such as Okta or Google. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Connect?

The only dislike I have with it (and this is not Jamf's fault, it's an Apple limitation) is if you have enabled FileVault, there will be two logins when you turn the computer on. You will first need to unlock the hard drive with the FileVault password, then enter your Entra ID credentials. It is for this reason that I mostly use it for lab environments or other shared desktops.

The double login only occurs after a restart, so it's not really that much of an inconvenience to be honest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?

It gives you the ability to seamlessly log onto the local computer with Entra ID or other IdP credentials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jamf Pro?

Jamf Pro is very comprehensive, highly complex endpoint device management system. It allows a dedicated admin the ability to craft policies, configurations, settings, accounts, etc with a minimum of fuss. One of the things differentiating Jamf from other similar offerings is the Jamf binary, as it allows management of items not covered by Apple policies... essentially Jamf offers a tighter integration into the OS itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jamf Pro?

Cloud instances are of course highly dependent upon a number of variables, and quality of service can be hugely impacted by enterprises choosing not to follow vendor guidance re: ports/protocols.

The initial ramp-up can be a bit daunting as there's a bit of a learning curve. The cloud portal could be a bit cleaner as well, as there's a lot of clicking around. Certain functions could very well be consolidated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jamf Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?

Jamf Pro allows us to quickly onboard and managed Apple mobile devices in a primarily Windows-centric enterprise. It allows us to very, very nearly replicate the policies implemented by our AD teams, manage AD creds, auth to VPN/other corporate resources, map drives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
