Licensing Behavior Is Problematic The most critical issue with JAMA is how it handles floating licenses. When a Creator license is unavailable, the user is automatically downgraded to a Reviewer role. Unfortunately, a Reviewer can only access requirements that are actively included in a review—meaning they are effectively locked out of the full set of requirements. This restriction is highly problematic, especially when we're attempting to align our workflow and documentation practices around JAMA. We expected that a Creator without an available license would be downgraded to a read-only role, rather than losing access to essential content. Difficulties Managing Multiple Products JAMA works reasonably well when focusing on a single product. However, managing multiple products simultaneously becomes overly complex. The system does not provide an intuitive or visual way to differentiate or compare between products. For example, there is no visual overview of differences or changes across product versions, making it hard to track progress or ensure consistency. Limited Visibility into Requirement/Test Status Another major pain point is the difficulty in retrieving the status of only a subset of requirements or tests. JAMA lacks flexible filtering or dashboard views that would make it easier to focus on a specific area or segment of the project. One of the features I appreciate most is the "Review" option , which streamlines the review and approval process. It significantly reduces the need for frequent meetings by enabling asynchronous collaboration, which in turn improves overall efficiency and keeps the project momentum going. In addition, the customer support is excellent. Response times are quick, and communication is clear and efficient, which makes resolving any issues straightforward and less time consuming. Additionally, I have encountered issues with data import functionality (In this case from Jira to Jama with JCI). In some cases, imported items were present in the system but did not appear in the filters as expected. These kinds of inconsistencies can impact trust in the tool's reliability, especially when working with critical project data. Ensuring robust and transparent data handling is the key. A lot of features, easy to use from the first day even for a complex topic as REQM. The knowledge base to learn how to use and possible scenario is very well done and you can learn by yourself if you have sufficient skills in the argument. We had to ask for the customer support in a few cases and this was fast and appropriate and give the solution in a fast way. The aim of "Connect" it is really to integrate with a lot of systems, and this is one of the main aspects done in a good and simple way. It is easy to implement because there are a lot of samples, cases and preconfigured options so it is likely to be used for quality assurance of products on a regular basis on several scenarios. The review of individual items the loose the big picture and ends in looking for the thing that changes from item to item. The test part is really software-oriented and would have gained integrating some small feature that enables an increased sample size, rather than type-test or reuse whole set of protocol. Jama Connect is a great tool for Requirements Management. It is web-based and has a modern interface. Thanks to the versioning and item history you can see all changes in a Project. The Review functionality allows for great collaboration across multiple teams with comments that can be tied to specific text-sections through highlighting. With the REST API you can also develop your own tools to interact with the data in Jama for integration into other processes. Thanks to the available training videos users can easily onboard and understand the basic functionalities. Even if you get stuck, you can reach out to the Support team and get help quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Jama Connect? There are a few rules in the tool that you need to get used to. Special items always need a 'Set' as a parent item, even if you only want to add a single item to your project. Another shortcoming that we experienced is that in Review mode you can't have the tabular view which is available in Project view. What problems is Jama Connect solving and how is that benefiting you? It gives us a centralized storage space for all our requirements that are accessible for everyone. No more Excel sheets that are stored locally on everyone's machines with different versions. Jama is easy to use because the traceablity that is defined in the system also generate a complete overview of the trace tree. The example that are in the system gives good input for how to setup your own project.
