It is easy to use, lightweight application with practical features. I use it on my computers as the default image viewer. It has translation for my language (Portuguese - Brazil), and it can open almost any type of file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some editing resources are missing, and often I can't find a function. The visual is very characteristic of the 90s, it deserves a modernization with more buttons and icons for the main functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

According to me, it is the best image viewer available on the internet till date. The performance is just tremendous, it can open almost all the formats whichever the major sizes in micro seconds, I mostly used opening a 32bit HDRI image from that and that too with lots of easy panning and zooming feature. Nothing but the editing is very basic, and it is only available in windows. else everything great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So I've been using IrfanView at least since around the 2010s. It was one of the first included photo viewing software i used back in Win XP-times. It is a very, very basic viewing platform, though it can be extended with plugins or personalized changes; though I almost every time only used the very basic version of IrfanView. It's a very small, good and comprehensive image-viewing software, though, for editing, scaling or optimizing images, IrfanView wouldn't be the software for you. IrfanView hasn't changed at all, so it's "Skills" are very limited. It was from the beginning and still is a very, very basic photo-viewing software and nothing beyond that. So for most modern exercises, I think IrfanView is the wrong solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been a fan of Irfanview for quite a while. I was introduced to it by a friend and never looked back. A great tool, especially for pictures. Compared to competitors, the program has more options than any other. i like that when wanting to add effects to an image, one can select the effect desired or choose the product pallet and have all of them at your disposal. One can also see the result of the effect on a second display. The program can even open files that no other program can. The AUTO ADJUST COLOR is a fantastic feature. When I think I have a quality image, this feature improves it instantly. I run all my pictures thru this routine. The CAPTURE SCREENSHOT feature is excellent because the image it captures meets the quality standards I would expect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only pitfall I find is when working with the app, and one rolls the wheel on the mouse thinking it will zoom, it does not. It goes to the following picture or displays a message that one has reached the end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that it has such a small footprint while being a relatively speaking powerhour is really awesome! The fact that it is still kept up over the years. Been using it since the XP days and it's on the top of my list after every reinstall / OS upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had to go looking for plugins at times that did not work, probably would have worked with some troubleshooting, but it's still got that 90's way of doing such things, to make it a very 2023 kinda software, it needs to auto download required dependencies IMO. It opens quick even on older systems and makes browsing through large sized images also v fast. unlike the inbuilt photo app in windows which is slow in opening large files this has a much faster open time for viewing pictures. the editing features make it a worthy option to even edit the pictures. The UI is not the most modern and looks a bit dated. Also now in 2023 we expect some ai features to be inbuilt in most tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IrfanView is one of those programs where you almost forget it isn't part of the operating system once it is installed. It fits in that well. The depth of plugin support and customization makes worrying about file types a non-issue. Simple actions like browsing images in a directory are seamless. IrfanView has just enough image editing tools to make opening another program unnecessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In my opinion, a few of the default settings are not the best. Changing these settings does add some time to the initial setup process. I have not yet explored the options for configuring an INI file to make setup easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

it is lightweight photo viewer and editor with all the basic features necessary in order to view and edit all types of images usually the other competitors are relatively heavy in size and don't run well on older machines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
the main disadvantage of using irfan view is its classic interface and some advanced editing features are not available, such as layers and non-destructive editing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

IrfanView is one of the first programs I install when I reset my PC (or get a new one). It is easy to use and will create/modify any type of image that I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IrfanView is very deep. It does so much, the learning curve is a little intimidating. Once the curve is behind, editing is more than adequate for most users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
