I like that in my free time, I can hit many tools using IP2Location without running out of resources. I find it useful that I can send a lot of records, and it still continues to work, even allowing me to get a weekly summary. I appreciate being able to see how many different locations the IP API has been used for, which is really neat. Since I'm a free user, I would say that there could be more API requests or domain searches allowed in the free version. It's hard to understand the range of items that can be obtained in the comparison table for FREE, STATER, Plus, and Security. It would also be better if you could use the 7-day trial period to implement the API in your application and compare the plans while viewing the response of each pricing plan with production data. I use IP2Location for working with networks and SMM, and it helps determine the type of IP connection, the presence of VPN, proxy, and TOR. I use IP2Location for accounts creation, and what I really like about it is the pinpoint accuracy of the proxies it generates. It's exactly matched to the selected area or state, which is super important for my work. I've tried several other proxy providers before, but they often had high latency or generated proxies from different locations than I had chosen. I like that IP2Location gives me a general idea of where someone calling might be from. It's really helpful to find out if someone calling from a number I don’t recognize is local or not. I use IP2Location’s IP list for a self-hosted GeoIP setup, primarily to detect data center, proxy, and VPN IPs—and in this area, it outperforms MaxMind. The granularity of proxy-related data is a major strength, especially for identifying public and commercial anonymizers that MaxMind sometimes misses.

The Free Plan with 50,000 API queries/month is more than enough for personal or light commercial use, and the downloadable IP list integrates smoothly into my local stack. It’s a great supplement to MaxMind when you need more aggressive proxy detection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

That said, the list includes only about 1 million IPs, and updates are less frequent than I’d like. If you’re relying on real-time threat intelligence or need broader IP coverage, this could be a limitation.
