What I liked most was the idea of having multiple marketing tools in one place. The platform offers campaign management, audience/contact management, landing pages, automations, and SMS marketing, which is why we chose it in the first place. The dashboard and campaign list were fairly easy to navigate, and I liked that I could see the status of campaigns and automations in one place. The concept of building keyword-based SMS automations was also appealing because it could have allowed us to grow our email marketing list. Unfortunatly, while I liked the idea of the platform and what it appeared to offer, the expeience did not meet expectations. The SMS keyword automation did not work consistently for text to join, and the support experience made it difficult and did not resolve the issue or offer a resolution. So what I liked most was the potential of the platform, but the execution did not work for our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest thing that did not work well for us was the SMS keyword automation. We switched form Clearstream which worked flawlessly. We were trying to use Mailchimp to help us grow from SMS campaigns only into email marketing. We do not currently have an email list cultivated, so our goal was to use the text to join SMS keyword automation to grow our email list. We do this through giveaways. Unfortunately, the keyword SMS flow did not work consistently. We tested with multiple phone numbers. Originally two of the phone numbers were already in our general audience from our contact import. After archiving all imported contacts, the two phone numbers texted the keyword again and they finally got the automated response. Two phone numbers that have never been imported into mailchimp tried and never recieved a response, their numbers never showed up in mailchimp as sending the keyword to our assigned mailchimp phone number for our sms platform. Support said they would have to be manually added then send the text with keyword for them to be added to the list. Which defeats the text to join keyword automation. So, we are unable to launch the program, we are unable to be refunded because their platform does not preform as expected by Mailchimp or the consumer (ME). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Thank you for sharing this detailed feedback, Brandi. It's clear this has been a frustrating experience, and that's not the standard we hold ourselves to.
The goal of using SMS keyword automations to grow an email list is absolutely a supported use case, and it should have worked as expected from the start. Your feedback about the support experience has been shared internally, and our Support team will follow up via email with the correct guidance to help get your SMS automation flow working as intended.
