What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? crashes, bugs, gremlins constantly causing issues from a software application user standpoint. too many times, a file needs to be closed and reopened, or settings change requiring new prep files or updates do not work correctly and need to be redone. many features are archaic and not updated for our current state; disappointing that Intuit does not do enough for user requests and does their own thing or ignores users tax planner is an entirely similar issue but worse. very proficient but seems like the architecture is 20 years old with no updates. disappointing no attention is giving to tax planner as it "was" a great tool but may get passed by with new applications by other software vendors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. I have been using Lacerte for most of my career, left them for a couple of years due to the cost. Their software is user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? Cost and the dislike of them partnering with other software company to fulfill their shortfalls. What problems is Intuit Lacerte Tax solving and how is that benefiting you? Not sure they are problem solving...the want the who market, from self-user to the professional level. They had commercial running in late October advising taxpayers to fire their accountant and use Turbo Tax. The professionals have not forgotten how disloyal this was to us. They would have to get 322 individual self-users to pay for my one office. The $1M donation to the current administration added insult to injury... Intuit needs to decide what team they are on. What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? Specifically 2024, Lacerte crashes a lot and has a lot of bugs. Everyone in our office has problems with 2024. -I would like there to be a fillable organizer option. Our clients do not like the e-organizer and want a regular organizer that is fillable. -For DocuSign, I would love to be able to go back and read the email that is sent with the initial DocuSign. -I would like to be able to split married clients into two files easily without having to create a whole new file. The software was built in the 90’s and looks like it. I’ve used Lacerte since 99 and I’m basically married to it at this point but the costs have gotten so out of hand that I’m thinking about moving to another software. This software shouldn’t be more than $10k and I’m spending over $30k. I can’t wait for a good competitor to come along and shake up the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Lacerte is a robust tax return preparation software. It has been able to handle every client in a quick and efficient manner. It has handled every client from a simple W-2 return to our most complex and intertwined clients with multiple business and entities. What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? Some form entry sections, like 1099-INT, would benefit from entry boxes having numbers to match the forms. CPA Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 4/23/2025 "Comprehensive tax software" 4/5 What do you like best about Intuit Lacerte Tax? no tax software calculation errors with the exception of local RITA tax though I am not sure I can place the blame on Lacerte as some RITA instructions can be difficult to interpret. RITA local tax return rejections due to 1099 misc income forms not accepted, not sure if this is a RITA error or Lacerte but I always resolve this error by submitting a paper return. I have commented to Lacerte and RITA but each year this error continues. It covers nearly all of the forms I use regularly. It especially has good coverage of local forms on the city/county level, which is surprising but very helpful. There are a lot of bugs, especially starting this year, causing crashes or requiring me to quit out to the client list and reload the client. Lacerte handles complex tax returns with accuracy and speed. The diagnostic tools are strong, it has a powerful calculation engine for advanced tax scenarios, and is able to handle multi-state filings very well. What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? Lacerte is a high cost software with a learning curve, and has add-on fees for features like e-signatures, hosting, and other options. Sometimes, during peak season, there are crashes or slowdowns. There have been some instances where certain forms have not been supported. I like that it helps me fix any errors. I like that it connects to QBO,-implementation obviously, they're both Intuit, but I really like the syncing of it! Customer support is really on top of things, too, you always have a fallback. I like that I don't have to buy every year, frequently. I like the proforma integration. What do you dislike about Intuit Lacerte Tax? The limit on the capacity of scans to attach to a tax return is a problem. We are scanning forms such as 1099-B because there are too many pages to input manually. But then Lacerte says a file is too big? If it wasn't a big file we wouldn't be scanning it! Customer support is something that can be improved. Some of the people are just reading the same troubleshooting articles that we are and don't actually know how to fix an issue.
