Inrule has lowered the time of, and the complexity of adding new ruleapps greatly. It integrates seamlessly into our environment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We need to do additional work to massage data, it would be great if inrule handled that better Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Support in customizing C# code to support generating input data sets and loading of return data sets from the inRule portal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Bit of a learning curve to get used to functionality and customization procedures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Business language editing allows for low interaction with our development staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Getting data in and out of InRule is not as efficient as we would like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
InRule has allowed us to create a baseline of the validations we use for clients to be applied specifically on new clients by enabling them. This has cut the time it takes us to create new ruleapps and add rules dramatically. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the rules where we need additional logic are difficult to know where we are pointed to. Some of the preexisting data doesn't always match exactly what I would expect on our file. More defined or more complex examples would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The application is very flexible, allowing us to send data for InRule to process and receive instructions on what processes need to be initiated. If changes need to be made to the rules, we can test in a lower environment and promote to production very quickly. The support team is always available to assist when trying to solve for new problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In order to save your work, you have to check in your progress even if you are not finished building the rules. You could disable the incomplete rules so they are not used but it would be nice not to have to check it in. If your computer restarts, the login page does not remember your recent catalogs or your username/password. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
InRule has a rich predefined tool pallet, with which the majority of business rules can be evaluated. From very simple ones (e.g. addition of 2 numbers) to very complex ones (e.g. calculating multi-dimensional conformity result predictions for a batch, based on individual measurements on an array of samples, taking into account a specific law-year). and that all without classic software development. I hear all techies think: "yeah, that's right. In the end you come back to us". But unfortunately for you: No. Get used to it. This is what you want.
It allows you to create logic, based on an information architecture perspective, rather than a software development perspective. That is a huge advantage. Further, the ability to call the engine with basic web services enables you to place the engine in the center of your organization. The tool has a very intuitive promotion mechanism (Development, Test, Preproduction, Production, etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Out of the box the promotion mechanism lacks the ability to predefine endpoint deviations throughout the different production stages. E.g: In your Test environment a certain database is located on instance DBInstance-T and in your Acceptance environment in instance DBInstance-A. After promoting from T to A the references to this db instance must be alterd manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to offload work that would historically have to be coded by our software developers to our business users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not something that I disliked, just more of a challenge during our implementation when we were still learning how InRule would work. We had to restructure the workflow and pass in more data than we initially had scoped in our API request so that everything was available to evaluate our various business rules. The staff is very friendly and always keen on solving any problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We are using an old solution and, there are few people at Inrule that have the competence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's easy to train people after understanding the basics. Creating rules is fast. Testing and promoting are quick and easy to complete as well.
I do not work with other software to compare it to, but I would imagine the ease of use is hard to match Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main dislike is the ability to report on it in a user-display way. We can run reports, but it's all tech written instead of layperson's terms.
Sometimes the software is slow to load or times out due to the number of rules and rule apps we have. Promotions can do this as well, but not a deal breaker Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a helpful tool to improve processes and workflows. But it takes an effort from the organisation to establish the process you are working on. It is sometimes easy to underestimate that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I dont really see any downsides. it works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
