Nice way to get things going quickly for any size project. The Visualizer built tool recently underwent a rewrite and is very flexible; more so than in the past. Building out our data model is presented in a nice visual. Easy to use and manage. Birst has added a new tool designed for power business users. It is ideal for department level data analytics. The tool allows for internal Data Lake tables ro be assigned for use to a power user in conjunction with external data sources. The UI is easy to use if the power user understands linking table and provides access to the Visualizer tool for report creation. The Visualizer tool provides is comparable to most other BI tools. It does allow for custom coding within a Dashlet (object on a Dashboard). It also allows for use of D3 objects is we are trying to deliver an exciting visual for Marketing or Sales. The Notification function is used extensively by our user base. Many times the users want a report or visual in email; and Birst has robust notification system. Standard functions for authentication are easy to integrate. Support is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. One of the best support outfits we've worked with. **What do you dislike about Infor Birst?** Birst's presentation layer can be slow if you are displaying a considerable amount of data or are using multiple languages. The new version has address most of this with the redesign of the back-end. Visualizer is not a pixel perfect report writer, but has been moving in this direction for more than a year. The promise is we will have this by Q4, 2020. Another work in process is dynamic presentation regardless of display size. This has gotten better, but (again) we have been promised a responsive design by the end of the year. **Recommendations to others considering Infor Birst:** We use the appliance version because it provides more flexibility. I'd recommend you look into this. **What problems is Infor Birst solving and how is that benefiting you?** We deliver internal reporting to Marketing and Sales on customer product usage for use by both Hunters and Farmers. Most importantly we provide five separate BI applications based on each of our product lines providing BI insight into product usage. Compared to the old data table information our new visuals with Drill Downs to the underlying data allow our customer to easily identify critical points which could not be seen in a data table. ### 32. It looks pretty simple and friendly for report consumers, no matter how complex the data model behind the scene. It's getting better and better with every new release. **What do you dislike about Infor Birst?** I don't like the situation when something got broken because of 3rd parties tools and it takes ages to fix it. E.g. excel attachments come broken in Birst notification because Mimecast checks and 'fixes' them. It happened only with Birst attachments. For 2 months we cannot use Birst reports in Excel format. I don't see why in the situation like this Birst engineering cannot talk to Mimecast specialists to fix the issue. Fortunately, problems like this happen not very often. **What problems is Infor Birst solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's mostly operational reports - daily/monthly/yearly progress, KPIs monitoring; resources utilisation, the volume of work monitoring; quality of work; the cost of work; asset management; Birst helps our staff to get information much faster, especially when reports include a lot of calculations. It makes the process of communication with subcontractors and clients more transparent. It also gives managers a tool to measure staff productivity - from data stored in other business systems. ### 33. The import and mapping functionality has a bit of a learning curve compared to other products, but works very well once fully understood! **What do you dislike about Infor Birst?** During our time using the tool, we have noticed that the time to process the data is rather inconsistent. Sometimes it is quick and sometimes it takes almost a full day. I also think better user guides and training documentation could be helpful for admins and end users while first getting started. The opening speed of visualizations is very good. That's maybe the only one thing I liked about it. **What do you dislike about Infor Birst?** I worked with Birst more than two years in total. The journey was full with advanced BI development items that the Birst tool was not able to do. The back-end of the tool was very heavy, complicated and required long reloading time to get things fixed. The tool lacked dynamic and on-the-fly aggregation features. The tool often gave error messages without any guidance on how to move forward. Birst support was not helpful. Instead of fixing a bug in the software, once they offered me to live with a workaround. I could continue with this list of issues with Birst... Overall, working with Birst gives a completely opposite experience as working with a few other BI tools which can handle any advance needs essentially error-free in a simple and clean way. **What problems is Infor Birst solving and how is that benefiting you?** Nothing anymore since a few months ago. Often the user interface is often interrupted when filters are added that also leads users to assume that it is really bad, just wait a few seconds and that's it. It's basically a really useful tool. We are pleased to be able to carry out an ad-based campaign number cost-benefit study. We had bi-monthly calls with them, but there was little progress to show, and no prioritization to correct long-outstanding major functionality that simply didn't work. It initially provided a great environment for customers to visualize business performance.
