**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Powerful database for time series data that is very feature rich and easy to use. Very useful for a lot of different uses from monitoring to reporting and many other tasks. Database has a lot of built in data features taht are really handy when dealing with time series data that a lot of other databasess don't have. The database is also very efficient at storing the information on disk in a very compact manner.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Having to deal with cardinality and memory consumption can be a challenge. This has created some limitations for us where we have to be careful about what all we put into InfluxDB to make sure that we can have a stable instance.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

If you're looking for a database to store and visualize time series data I think this is one of if not the best solutions available at this time; and it is open source which is really nice. The team has done a great job of not hamstringing useful features behind paid services which is really great to see.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using InfluxDB to store telemtry information from thousands of machines and using the data for monitoring and reporting.

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Getting started with InfluxDB is straight-forward and easy. One of the powerful feature of InfluxDB dashboards and its query language Flux. Influx is fast and efficient. Deploying, managing, backups and upgrading the influx needs some expertise. The query language helps to customize the visualization and to calculate the data effectively. The help documentation is detailed enough to get started.

The monitioring and the alert functions in InfluxDB helps to take appropirate actions when something is deviating. Integrations with third party tools and solutions enables to create seamless pipeline across multiple zones.

The Influx APIs helps in automating tasks and also in the CI/CD pipelines.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Few limitations in the open source version and the security aspects. InfluxDB should develop its own plugins for the performance testing ecosystem. Right now only few integrations are available out of the box.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

If you want to visualize your data in a fast and efficient way, then InfluxDB is the answer. InfluxDB visulization dashboard is all you need to monitor all the aspects in your organization. If you are enterprise, then managing the users, organizations is easy in InfluxDB.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Critical data to visualize the performance, analytics, and more. By having the holistic view in the Influx user interface helps to monitor the whole arena. It helps me to monitor the performance of our applications during the performance testing. By leveraing the Infux DB dashboard, we can easily monitor the response time, throughput, pass/fail count, CPU, memory, disk, network, and other utilization across our instances. It also alerts the respective parties to take actions.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prithwi Raj B. | VP of Product Engineering, Mobile Apps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2019

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

InfluxDB is a simple but very powerful time-series database that is lightweight and can be used at any scale. This database can be easily mapped to Grafana a data visualization tool to display different types of analytics. I love how powerful Influx DB is compared to its competitors. The performance we were observing when running on low-cost cloud compute instances was second to none. For me, it was an overall smooth conversion and I am very satisfied with the overall experience. I did not encounter any major roadblocks during the implementation process.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Nothing major to dislike about InfluxDB. It would be better if it has its own GUI to manage the database instead of using Linux based commands. Also, I wish it has some default graphical data visualization tool for analyzing and tuning the time-series data preparation. It has a simple UI to do some very basic operation but it would be awesome to have nice management GUI and I believe it is required to make this powerful DB more popular.
Another thing I've noticed a few times in 4 years of extensive usage is that the CPU usage went high to 100% for an unlimited time. Restarting the node is the only option I found.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

If you are doing time-series without InfluxDB, you are doing it wrong. I'm saying this because InfluxDB is built for solving problems related to time-series. Most of the other available options in the market are not purely built as time-series databases primarily.
This database can be easily mapped to Grafana a data visualization tool to display different types of analytics. Trust me, it's very easy to get started with InfluxDB. And the ROI is very good over time. You just need to focus and update your thoughts that are aligned to time-series architecture, a little bit different from traditional RDBMS or NoSQL.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use InfluxDB to monitor various types of matrics of VMs, containers, services, web servers, networks and so on. This time-series DB helps me to track different types of events and event-based alerts. Using the Kapacitor of TICK stack it is very easy to monitor data real-time and generate alarms accordingly. We also track different types of user events on a timely basis. InfluxDB directly supports TICK script that helps to identify anomalies in the network of the datacenter.

  ### 21. My experience with InfluxDB

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio P. | IT infrastructure manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2020

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

The simplicity of installation, configuration and development

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

At the moment I don't have dislike about this product

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

If you are a classic DBA or if your skill is only on rdbms, forget everything, in this way will be more simple to approach a InfluxDB

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Well, I have used InfluxDB for two project:
- for the first project the problem was to have a time-series connected with a mosquitto; of course this problem was solved using InfluxDB a some little coding using python;
- the second project was to have a collection of all of the data related to my solar panels starting from 2012 till now. Also in this case I have created a little program with python in order to collect the historical data, then I have created a new program always in python to sync the actual and next data

  ### 22. I used InfluxDB with Grafana to realize data visualization.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keanu(Tianlu) Z. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2020

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

The continuous query is brilliant. It helps me make queries through several databases.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

I think InfluxDB should have functions like joining tables. Since InfluxDB does not support query over multiple measurements or multiple tags, I created a continuous query to collect data from A measurement and put it into B measurement.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solved the problem to record the number of requests received by my service. I used InfluxDB to realize calculating the ratio of good requests and all requests. Since graphite is deprecating, I use InfluxDB to record the time series data. When there is a marker received by the service and it is a duplicate one, a record with tag "cached" will be inserted into the InfluxDB measurement(equivalent to the table in MySQL). Otherwise, if the marker is a new one, a record with tag "new" will be created.

  ### 23. InfluxDB Collects a Variety of Data for Presentation and Forecasting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason L. | IT Support Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2019

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

InfluxDB is a breeze to set up, and administer. We had it up within minutes, and was pouring data into it not long afterwards. Additional instances were just as easy to create, and use cases presented themselves naturally through implementation, expanding past what we initially intended to collect.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

InfluxDB has some command differences from other DB languages, so there is a bit of a learning curve, albeit not an unexpected one. After tweaking queries within the associated Grafana installation, easy-to-digest displays were a breeze to create and use to demonstrate both internally to teammates and externally to stakeholders the health of our environment and needs to maintain said health.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

InfluxDB works best when using a tool such as Grafana to display the data collected, and various agents such as Telegraf to collect said data from all necessary sources. All can be installed and configured with a very low time cost, and the benefits of having such a system in place are immediately evident.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are collecting data that would normally only exist in a real-time fashion, things such as temperature and humidity of datacenters, to traffic flows between particular high-priority network hosts, to performance metrics of high-priority servers. We can properly snapshot our environment to determine current health, and properly forecast how to maintain keeping said health in good standing

  ### 24. Influx DB for Real time data Analysis

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** DURGESH V. | Graduate Trainee, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2020

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

As all we all know influx is one of the best time series database we have now.Adding it's continuous query , retention policies features makes it more stronger than other TS DBs.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

There is no GUI for influx like we have for workbench in mysql.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Go for it , one stop solution for all your problem related to data storage, APM and timeseries data management.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I suggested TICK stack APM in my organisation for application, host and container monitoring in real-time.
Influx Db i have used in my academic projects which were based on IoT.

  ### 25. Managed service for Time Series data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jai J. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2020

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Large supported programming language makes it fit in multiple scenario.

SQL like query language.

It can store string data also, as compared to other TS DBs which simply can't.

In-memory capabilities

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

It can't hold production load (metrics) from 1000+ servers. It has some real problems with data ingestion and ends up stalled and unusable.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

It's a very good managed service for Time Series data. Go for it.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems:

Only one I've got so far, data with same timestamp and tag gets overwritten.

Benefits:

Can directly use the dataframe in multiple services like pandas, spark, etc.

  ### 42. Solid Time Series DB!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan Y. | CEO & Co-Founder, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

This DB sets up time series data in a way that I've always dreamed of making myself - but does it better! You start by filling the database with as much data as possible, that you never intend directly query. Then you setup some reduction policies so that that data gets downsampled into something that is queried at an application/reporting level, with a significantly downsampled dataset. Then, depending on your needs, you can set expiration for your data so that big massive data insert you originally setup doesn't stick around.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Getting started is a little bit rough. There is a lot of good articles, but it simply requires you to dive into their deep end.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

If you need a Time series Database that just works, pick InfluxDB.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use InfluxDB to store systems analytics, user data, and server resource monitoring. We also use it for business analytics for how our users consume our platform. All on 1 machine, for now. We are looking to create a cluster soon.

  ### 43. Great time series database with an easy to usy to use syntax

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dylan E. | Security Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

The syntax is intuitive and easy to learn, as it is very similar to standard SQL queries. Learning the different aggregations and advanced features takes some time, but afterwards they are very easy to use. Downsampling data points to a lower resolution and deletion of older data can be automated very easily and reliably. The data compression is amazing (among the best compared to other time series databases), with a single data point with timestamp generally being less than 10 bytes in total for long-term storage and they are continuously updating the storage engine for even better compression. Integration with other applications in the TICK stack is easy and seamless and allows for even more advanced manipulation of the data. Documentation is

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Debugging the application to determine optimal configuration settings for performance/load is tricky and the documentation regarding this is lacking.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Consider your database design carefully to minimize cardinality, since it can affect the performance of the system in a major way if this is designed improperly.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use InfluxDB as our main time series database, holding data written from 100s of sources. This data can then be manipulated and requested back for business intelligence/machine optimization.

  ### 44. Does not scale

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Flexibility -- you can add database columns on-the-fly at run-time.
UDP or TCP -- go with UDP for efficiency or TCP for guaranteed delivery.
Easy time series data -- that's what it's made for.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Poor performance -- queries to check data would often timeout and fail.
Limited SQL -- very limited SQL syntax was frustrating -- queries from Internet could not be copied and pasted.
Unreliable -- could not handle all of are data, so we throttled and threw away most of the data, defeating the purpose.
Too flexible -- too easy to accidentally create duplicate columns. It's like going back to BASIC programming days where variables don't have to be declared.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Be sure it is fit for your purpose and can handle enough data before you commit to the tool

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it for logging information from mobile apps. Arguably it is not a logging product, but a series of log messages is a time series as far as I am concerned.
The logs did help us troubleshoot problems -- when we could get the SQL syntax to work and not time out.

  ### 45. A good choice for timeseries data

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

The most thing I liked was the ability to store very big timeseries data in very efficient way. In my case, we stored relatively big data with single node which uses casual compute and storage resources

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Although influxdb core is open source and free, using it in production and at scale will require a very expensive license. For example, clusters are only available in InfluxEnterprise which was costy for us in early development phase.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Influxdb is designed to store timeseries data, not anything else. If you data nature is a timeseris that can be displayed in line graphs so go for influxdb, otherwise it may not be the best fit. Influxdb don't have *good* support for strings, and no support for booleans nor nested documents. So double check your data is a timeseries, and you will require lots of time-based queries.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to store our infrastructure health and usage metrics. The most benefit in this use-case was the good support for tool-chains.

  ### 46. Influx DB for operational monitoring

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yves B. | Senior Vice President, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Easy to setup and customize, no performance issue so far (monitoring millions of events daily).
Has proven to scale without having to resort to technical wizardry.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Nothing. INFLUX DB does what it is supposed to do.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Operational monitoring. Facilitates an agile introduction of additional monitoring, independently of the actual source, format and protocols of the information source.

  ### 47. awsome time serise database

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Praveen Reddy T. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

linfluxdb has a greate capability to write huge data and very good speeds while reading data.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

cluster features are not available in the community edition.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

to present the time series data in dashboards.

  ### 48. My most favourite time series database ever!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee H. | Founder & CTO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2017

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

Easy deployment, single binary unbeatable. Compared with Graphite which was state of the art when I started using InfluxDB

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Pseudo-SQL syntax sometimes tricky because of perceived faux familiarity. Also in it's usual habitat (docker container) the REPL has no autocomplete or tab completion which can make editing queries tricky. Fortunately this doesn't have to be done much, as most people with use Grafana in front of it most of the time.

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Look beyond the fact that the vendor wants you to use their whole stack. Their TICK stack has strenghts and weaknesses. InfluxDB coupled with Grafana works wonderfully, and Telegraf is a good "metrics collector" too.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Metrics data in general (alerting via Grafana) and also as principle data store of time series data which is shared with customers via our web application. In that regard, for some of our data InfluxDB is a primary data store for business critical operations.

  ### 49. Amazing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

How easy it is to configure and get running

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

The lack of joins across measurements can be annoying at times

**Recommendations to others considering InfluxDB:**

Understand what your schema should be like and set up your tags and values properly

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting system measurements from various network devices

  ### 50. I have been fairly disappointed in InfluxDB

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt W. | CTO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2017

**What do you like best about InfluxDB?**

How easy it is to pump data into InfluxDB, query it, and downsample it.

The query language is great, intuituve, and well thought out.

It is fairly easy to install, configure, and get working out of the box.

**What do you dislike about InfluxDB?**

Performance. I have very little data (100k points) on an Amazon EC2 t2.medium instance (below recommendations, but I have very little data) and when I query for data it crushes the CPU. And is very slow to return results.

**What problems is InfluxDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking site wide metrics via timestamped events. It allows us to track a variety of metrics easily and query on them as we think of new ways to massage the data.
