iBooks Author is one of the best ways to make an interactive eBook. It has a very extensive and attractive sets of formats to start, like novel, photo books, travel books, cooking books... You can integrate sound and video, gallery of image, pop up, but the most interesting tool is the Exercise tool, to create quiz for students to practice. It's very easy to use.

Ease of use is what I like best, including one-click publishing! I love the drag and drop template which gives you plenty of design options or start from scratch too. You can add tons of HD video, images, and live links. The interface is uncomplicated and adjustable. There are many widget options including sound bytes, songs, and photo galleries. You can quickly and easily preview your book on your own iPad in seconds which really helps in the creative process. Anyone can figure out this program and start publishing your own books without the need for agents or publishers. If you like to be independent in your work this is the way to go. iBooks Author is no longer supported by Apple and is not compatible with newer versions of Mac OS X. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I just love how simple, easy, and straightforward it is to use. It's very intuitive to use. You write the title of your chapter and continue to writing. It's very straightforward to get your goal accomplished. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's very little I don't like. If anything I wish the editing tools were better, but to be honest it does it's job very well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the iBooks Author, because it allows me to make rich ebooks with multimedia content in a simple way (ideal for textbooks, recipes, etc.), but I can only distribute them in iTunes, I cannot export the work to take advantage of it in other portals. However, I like it because it is probably the second world seller of ebooks, and also serves the users of leading devices in its sector. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its disadvantage is that to access it you have to download an application, and that its compatibility with other devices is limited (outside Apple only works for PC). Apple only supports ebooks in epub format is a limitation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

iBooks Author is incredibly usable and makes creating static or interactive ebooks very easy thanks to the what you see is what you get creation and previewing. Adding interactive content (either created specifically for the project or imported from elsewhere) and photos, videos, and galleries takes seconds and produces elegant results. The ability to import Keynote (and by association, Powerpoint) slide decks as a gallery makes producing second level content simple. Easy to publish publicly through Apple Books store, or internally distribute as an iBooks file (or ePub for maximum compatibility). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's barely updated, basically only to keep compatibility with the most recent operating systems. Minimal additions to the templates provided, and a now very dated user interface (which has elements that still haven't been updated for high resolution Retina displays). Exporting the non-ePub templates as ePub breaks a lot of the formatting and additional features. Having to push copies of the book to the Books app to preview is clunky. I found it really easy and actually fun to put out 2 books now on iBooks using IBooks Author. They look great, and flow well. I do have design background, but not necisarrily in making ebooks or epubs. This program made it a seamless & easy process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It really only works seamlessly when producing a book to release on Apple iBooks. At least in my experience. I think other programs allow more versatility in that regard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how easy it was to create a completely professional looking iBook using iBook Author. This software has templates for different kinds of electronic books that look amazing and are easy, even for someone with no knowledge on how to piece together an electronic publication. In my honest opinion, there isn't a whole lot to dislike about iBooks Author. You don't have to be a graphic designer to achieve a very nice looking book that you can release on iBooks. It's a pretty awesome program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that IBooks is a great alternative to the beast of self-publishing, Amazon KDP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a very clunky system to use. I don't think it's intuitive at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The part that I disliked about iBooks is that some times it is a little slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
iBooks Author is the best digital publishing program I have ever used. What I love most is that is plays videos and has interactive widgets such as photo galleries, pop-up images, interactive images, scrolling textboxes, etc. It is also free, can be installed on any Mac computer, is so intuitive, and is the best thing to come to publishing technology since sliced bread. You can also use Pages to create an .iBook. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I dislike is that the books are only available on iOS devices and on the iTunes Store. I have published 3 books so far, using iBooks Author, and wish that the books were available on Amazon and compatible with Kindles. This would help independent authors make money. If it were to be available on all platforms (with interactive iBooks that play videos), that would be Ahhhhmazing! The fact that is is currently only available on iPads and Macs makes it hard to reach everyone. Yes, one can export their iBook as a PDF but it will lose all interactivity which is the point.
