Cloud capability for Data Stage not effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The shared metadata between the tools and the ability to cater for technical and business users. In the early days the suite was all about DataStage - a lot of companies only used DataStage and underutilised profiling and metadata lineage. Today there is a lot more appreciation for Business Glossary and Data Quality Scorecards and these have just about taken over from DataStage as the key value of the suite. It has a weak web user interface - especially the FastTrack mapping tool and the Information Analyzer profiling tool. This has really stopped it from becoming more widely used in big organisations. I think these problems are being fixed in the Data Works cloud version and hopefully the InfoSphere suite will have uniform web user interface tools soon across all business user functions. Features are useful but newest and best pieces come in the future releases - have found in difficult to find examples of organizations that have upgraded from one version to another. Have a lot of baggage from the old versions which prevents easy transition.
