Power 9 scaled up grate from the Power 7 servers and provide better performance per core and more memory capacity. Power 9 servers condensed foot print is grate when migrating from Power 7, to improve floor space and power consumption within the data center. Hosting virtual machines allows for multiple environments. **What do you dislike about IBM Power Servers?** Pricing and some software were not bundled but were an option. A learning curve as this server has a specialized system. Proprietary AIX operating system. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power Servers:** If you have heavy I/O legacy applications Power 9 servers have faster CPUs that handle I/O processing over two times faster from our previous system that would crash with all CPUs maxed out, the P9 server was able to handle with no issues and about 60% CPU utilization. Power 9 has a 99.999% up time. AIX is the operating system with the best vulnerability security compared to other operating systems. **What problems is IBM Power Servers solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using legacy software with heavy I/O, the new P9 was able to give the power we needed with the faster CPUs that provide better bandwidth and capacity. Power 9 server has a 99.999% up time and has the RAS features which cannot be compared by any other platform with competitors. The only thing I can say we miss was the straight forwardness of the Logical Host Ethernet adapter that was no longer available. That the one you are planning to buy would be withdrawn soon. or 2. From numerous surveys, sent out to students and staff, I have heard improvements in systems that utilize the new server, for example, the online streaming radio station. We were even able to install a new printing system for students. **What do you dislike about IBM Power Servers?** As new products take time to get used to, the major complaints from staff is the change from HPE. However, the customer service accounts for such issue, as they have been very patient with questions and guiding us to necessary help documents. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Power Servers:** It accomplishes all the tasks required of most other servers at a reasonable price.
